Bangkok Hotels

I'll give my two satang on the Silq for I am on my last day of six days here. Booked through their website using the long stay promo at $57 usd per night for a Superior room plus 1000bt food/drink credit.

Booking via the website was painless. They rapidly responded to my many queries (I tend to re-confirm what hotels tell me). I will be back for another 6 night stay mid-January at the same rate. The promo ends 31December but they offered it if I booked now.

Room is a corner room and is very new, modern, clean. NO age factor yet. Unlike the S/G which is going down hill rapidly. Has a sofa chair with ottoman, Bed, as said before by others, is very comfortable and the pillows are wonderful. Many times a hotel will have pillows like a rock or a mile high. Not here. Bathroom is on the small side with walk in shower which I prefer. Hot water is HOT, lasts, powerful. Shower can fit two but it'd be cramped. The door, to me, opens on the wrong side but who knows. Lighting in the bathroom is good. Internet works, bit slow at times, but works. Since I do business via the internet this is important to me.

You can get a lift (elevator) from the 1st floor, bypassing reception. But after 1am or so they lock it and you have to walk up the steps to the reception area. No one there last night at 3am. GF friendly for sure.

I am a news junkie so I flipped through all the channels. If one went by the type of stations offered one would think the hotel is geared for our Arab friends. Many channels of that nature or seemingly so.

I heard little or no noise in the hallway. The maid always came out of a room she was cleaning to say hello. Room was cleaned by the time I came back, be it an hour or longer. Staff friendly.

Great hotel at promo rates but at their normal rates a bit too much for my blood.

I usually use [url]www.Wgfriendly.com[/url] to select my hotel, because they give straightforward information about the 3 things that are important for me:

- joiner policy

- free internet in the room

- in-room safe

Since the price level is also listed, this saves me a lot of time!

Yes but only the JW Marriott is located exactly at ground zero - although another choice is the Landmark. Sheraton and Westin and Grand Millenium are also well located if the primary purpose is mongering. If one needed to be somewhat discretely removed from the action for business purposes or non p4p civilian contacts, the Plaza Athenee, Conrad, and Hyatt would fill the bill.

One would have to literally bring out the chains (NFL reference) in order to decide which is closer to 'ground zero' JW or Grand Millenium. My money is on the Grand Millenium. Anyway 'ground zero' for me is Cowboy as I rarely visit Nana.

nowadays, i never go into either nep or cowboy, as neither place floats my boat. but i definitely prefer the freelancer venues in the vicinity of the jw marriott. but i would agree that there are pretty much two "ground zero" loci, with one being the area between nep, annies, [url=http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord900][CodeWord900][/url] and the biergarten, and the other being the area between thermae and cowboy.

Back at Fx Asoke (FuramaXclusive) and find that corner rooms are better with more wardrobe and less cluttered.
A very good room, except for bed slightly too hard for me.

I just came back from ChiangMai where Chiangmai Plaza beds were very comfortable and overall impression was it was better than Centara Duangtawan. Unfortunately it did not have free Internet.

Its very hard to find a hotel that is perfect in everything including price.

My virgin post! I'll be staying in Thailand for about 70 days starting next month. The Legacy Suites has offered me a very good monthly rate for my stay. I've exchanged a couple emails with the reservation manager whether they are "guest friendly". Either he's being coy, or I'm not being blunt enough, but I can't get a straight answer from him whether they allow or don't. Does anyone know this hotels guest policy? I need to get this booked and greatly appreciate the help.

Have anyone stayed at Swiss Park hotel before? A friend who have been to Thailand before highly recommend it.

Well Im not in the Majestic Suites but ended up with a booking in IBIS Nana. Any knowledge on this place (good or bad)?

Have stayed there a couple of times. Its ok, but nothing special.
I remember they had a special offer at the time. 1200 thb incl. breakfast.
Rooms not big, but ok. and nice view of the city if you get a high floor.

Just booked three weeks at the SilQ commencing 3rd of Feb.

Enquired re rates via their website and was quoted 2295 baht, nett per night. Big jump from my last stay, why I asked? Previous charge was a promotion they said.

Checked on all known agents (expedia, agoda, asia rooms etc) and while I could get a better deal, it still seemed expensive.

Went back to the hotel and said that as I was staying for 3 weeks, surely they could sharpen the pencil and come up with a better rate.

They came back with 1648 baht nett. Great, yes please!

While I can't remember the names, the first offer was by the guest agent, the second offer was by the front desk supervisor. I am wondering if it was simply dealing with a different person that got me the lower rate, rather than my plea regarding the long stay?

The manager is an upfront guy, must remember to run this by him when I am there.
