Changes Within The Chiang Mai Sex Scene.
Over the years there have been many drastic changes within the Chiang Mai sex scene. Not for the better I'm sorry to say.
It`s all become over priced, expensive and big business orientated. These days including a woman as part of your social activities has become more of a luxury rather than as an inclusion to a night out as used to be back in the old days.
The good stuff or in other words anything even half decent have moved on to up market venues outside of the main tourist drags. Acquiring even just a short time with one of these girls can cost you a truckload of cash and I mean literally thousands of bahts. In most cases way over the budgets of the average tourist or for ex pats that like to frequent these places on a regular basis. Even in the most expensive dens of iniquity, the girls can be extremely inhibited and the service mechanical, with ridiculous amounts of money being asked for a quickie session of restrained sex, or wham bang thank you guy, that will be xxxx bahts plus tip thank you, next please.
The problem is the powers that be have closed down most if not all of the back street brothels. If there are any left in Chiang Mai, than these seem to be a closely guarded secret and discretely hidden away in the abyss somewhere.
Regarding online freelancers in Chiang Mai, there doesn't appear to be any. Again it seems like Chiang Mai is a dead loss in the online department. There are the escort agencies where the girls will ask for a starting rate of 5000 baht just to turn up and acknowledge that you exist in addition before even getting down to the required service.
Most of the hot chicks online, including dating sites and personals such as craigslist are in Bangkok and other areas. Many of the Chiang Mai online girls are just silly schoolgirls or college students that are really only looking for online facebook and MSN friends. Some of the Chiang Mai girls profile themselves as being so pure; they almost qualify as being Nuns.
There are decent girls to be had advertising their services online as deksideliner girls. But these are usually strictly reserved for Thai clientele and now many of the girls profiles are being blocked by the police on a daily basis. The only way a Westerner may have a chance of getting into the sideliner scene, that is if he becomes lucky enough to find or know a Thai who is well conversant with the sideliner scene and introduce him to the girls.
What's left of the farang adult entertainment venues are only remnants of what they used to be and today it`s all pretty grim. There are the few grot and skank bars left in the Loi Kroh road. The working women in these bars are mostly rejects that would probably be the last choice of any self respecting monger and not that cheap either, but unfortunately it`s become a case of take it or leave it because there are very few other choices unless willing and able to pay much larger sums of money for anything reasonable. Plus if like me you don`t like to drink that often, than it`s tough luck because there are not many options. Even the Loi Kroh road bars have lately been under close scrutiny of the police and it is possible that these may also be closed down and levelled in the foreseeable future.
Many tourists and ex pats have turned they're attentions to the inner city massage parlours as a substitute for the bar scene and lack of brothels, but this can be very hit and miss. Most of the inner city Chiang Mai massage parlours have become staffed by aging unattractive women that have transformed these establishments into hand job parlours. This after a while becomes boring and non eventful. It can also be expensive drifting around the massage parlours searching for a few and between looker who may oblige with a little more than a hand job. Besides that, most of the massage parlours are bleak, with only curtain partitions, the customer usually lying only within a foot or two away from a customer on the other side of the curtain and are simply not geared up for having sex on the premises. Some will do outcalls, but the customer will have no choice of lady and the odds are that it will be someone's mother or granny turning up for the service.
There are other massage parlours just outside the main tourist areas, but are usually staffed by the same sorts of aging unattractive women as in the inner city parlours, only difference being is that the premises are much superior in cleanliness and surroundings, which is normally reflected in the price. They can charge from twice to four times the hourly rates compared to the regular dumps in the town.
For me as a resident of Chiang Mai, I have become most disillusioned with it`s sex scene and have virtually given it up as a bad job. I'm sure there are those who are going to say to the contrary, but I've seen no evidence of this and if so, I would be interested to read their comments with actual facts, locations and prices. So far what I have read has failed to give me any inspiration or hope for the future of the Chiang Mai sex scene.
The Body to Body Massage Rip-off – Beware. Don`t fall for this one.
All around the outskirts of Chiang Mai city there are new glorified body to body massage parlours opening. Some are called clubs, such as the Pretty Club for example and others actually classifying themselves as body to body massage.
The Pros and Cons:
The only pros are the girls who are prostitutes and all the rest are total cons.
They prey on a first time customer's naivety, the object being to extract a customer of thousands of bahts in the quickest time possible, a sort of blitzkrieg on the wallet.
This is how it works:
A gullible guy walks into the premises. The first site that hits him is wall to wall eye candy, the girls of his dreams. 10 out of 10s, all dressed provocatively enough to wet the appetite of a saint. These are the bait.
Next, the customer will be shown a menu. It`s lists a range of the services offered. Usually starting at 1000 baht per hour for a no thrills Thai massage up to 1700 baht for a one hour body to body oil massage. Printed under each listed service are the words; THIS IS A NON-SEXUAL SERVICE.
If the guy agrees to the full 1 hour oil body to body massage for the flat fee of 1700 baht as listed on the menu, then the girls will demand that he pays the full amount upfront.
Once he has paid, the guy will be given a choice of a girl and she will lead him into the massage room. Now this is when the first great disappointment begins. Most of us are under the impression that a body-to-body oil massage will be done in the nude. Not so in this case. The girl will ask the guy to lie on the bed flat on his stomach. Then she will either just leave her shorts on or both her shorts and bra. She will continue by pouring a whole load of goop onto the guy's back and legs and then proceed to slide up and down the guy. The reason the girl will insist that the guy lays on his stomach is so that she has full control of the situation in case the guy begins getting too amorous before the bartering process begins.
Within 4 to 5 minutes the girl will prod the guy for his attention and ask what else he would like the girl to do for him? What this means is, that whatever service the guy wants over and above what's on the menu is an extra. In other words, the guy's interpretation of what is involved in the process of an oil body-to-body massage may cost him thousands, and I mean thousands of bahts more than the prices listed on the menu. If the guy is unable to afford the extras or declines the girl's offer, than they don`t care because the parlour already has his 1700 baht. In many cases the guy may not even receive the full 1700 bahts 1 hours worth of time.
If in the event that a customer complains, the staff will quickly remind him that it is a non sexual service as described on the menu. Yes, the quoted non-sexual service part is there to cover they're own asses, so the customer has no legalities if he wishes to take his complaint further.
In these places the girls are the carrots to tempt the donkeys or should I say; *******es. You have been warned.
Massage shops, off the beaten track

By "straight" I mean it's a place you can take your mother, but it is also where you, depending on yourself and the woman who provides the massage, can get anything from a HJ to FS. Both of these places also have a wall with pictures of the women working there, so you can choose before paying, both of them require payment in advance, and both of them have walls between the rooms, though one of them only has doors on the rooms used for oil massage (the Thai massage rooms have a curtain instead of a door).
One place is on Chang Klan road. Directions: going south on Chang Klan road out of the city. 200-300 meters after Central Chiangmai Memorial Hospital (on your right hand side) , you will see a karaoke place called "Pink Lady", also on your right hand side. Next to it is a restaurant, with a big parking next to it. The massage place shares it's entrance with the parking lot of the restaurant. Big place with around 50 women working there. A poster is on the wall to your left, slightly before the reception. Confusingly enough the reception booth has two sides open, but you want the one that is furthest inside. That is where you pay and possibly state the number of the woman which you want to massage you.
Prices are 100b / hour for Thai massage, and a lot more for oil massage which I never do, so I'm not sure what the price of that is, but think it might be 300b / hour for that. Note that they will probably try to charge you extra, at least if you're a foreigner and they've not seen you before, but just say "mai aow, krap" and state the correct price (a bit difficult as I'm not 100% sure what the oil massage price is, but.). Rooms for oil massage have a door, rooms for thai massage have a curtain. Women working here get 40b / hour for Thai massage, the shop gets 60b.
The second place is on Mahidol road. Directions: going north on Mahidol road from the Airport towards the city, you may see a big sign on your left hand side, saying "Goldstar entertainment" I think. Not exactly sure what that is, but the signs say Karaoke, Gym (?) and Spa I think. There is however also a big massage massage place at the same location. Prices here are 150b / hour for Thai massage, no idea about oil massage. Thai massage rooms have a door, and I assume so have the oil massage rooms (perhaps the same rooms, don't know). Confusingly enough, the wall with the pictures of the women working here is in the room past the reception so you will normally see it only after paying, unless you walk past the counter and then backtrack. Not sure if I remember it correctly if I say the women working here get 60b / hour for Thai massage, the shop gets 90b.
These are fairly clean rooms with prices no higher than the "dumps in town", or as you can see, actually a bit cheaper than many, but will as you say, be staffed by the same sorts of women you find in most other places. Both of them do however have a few reasonably attractive women, even some who are not yet anyones mother, and you can choose from the pictures on the wall. As said, these are not sex-shops, but you do end up in a fairly private setting with your masseuse, and most will be interested in making an extra tip.
