Mastercard during my travels in Uganda was accepted by Barclays. Others banks had problems bu maybe the situation should have been improved.

Anyway I strongly suggest to have at least 1 visa card to be added to others that are MasterCard.

An International Visa Credit Card works any place any time. Mastercard and Bankcards might work or might not. Never had a problem pulling cash with Visa anywhere unless datalines were down, the ATM was empty or there was no power.

Get a Visa. Period.

I use ATM at entebee airport, acacia mall at kampala, entebee city. As I remember barclays ATM add some extra charges to pull money out so better avoid this ATM. Best to use stanbic bank ATM it was allowed to take me 800000 shillings per one go without charge.
