It could be because this is a forum for mongering and not dating so people discuss mongering here and not dating/getting laid for free. (Although there are lots of reports of about freebies with domestic helpers here but I guess we can include that as mongering as very few of us view them much differently than working girls).
Can you get laid for free in Hong Kong with a nice local lady? Of course, and like most other major industrialized cities it generally takes some courting to get a nice young, professional, smart lady into the sack. These types of ladies usually have plenty of choices and do not just jump on every guy they see, especially someone who is just through town for a day or two. That is not to say that on occassion you may not luck out with a one night stand.
As someone who lives here I can tell you what many others have said it really helps to have $$$ with local ladies. If I am at a professional event, dressed to the nine's in Gieves and Hawkes suit, wearing a Paiget watch and give one my business card you can start to watch some of the local girls getting wet. The ones really in love with money are easy to pick up if one wanted to. If I saw the same girls on a weekend in my t-shirt and jeans and I asked them for the time of day they would generally ignore me.
Often one is looking for something else anyways. After a business dinner yesterday I wanted some fun and a lady I know from Manila got back in town the day before so I gave her a call. Met up with her in Wan Chai where I picked the prettiest of her five friends and we went off and had a nice three-way. It was no hassle and lots of fun. Would have been able to do the same with a couple nice young non-working local girls on no notice. I doubt it.

You really have an attitude. Of course we have to pay for sex. We do not have the time or energy to chase women to get free sex or to hang out in bars when we do not speak Mandarin or Cantonese. That is why we come to this site rather than enroll in eharmony. com.
I don't know about the rest of you mongers on the ISG, but in my younger days I was into the dancing, drinking, partying, courting, pick up lines, buying gifts-dinners-etc. scene. And those routines took a lot of time, patience, money and sometimes resulted in a bruised ego and hurt feelings.
As I get older and possibly wiser, I find it is so much simpler to pay for sex instead of trying to get it for free, which winds up not usually free after all. Often you meet up with and pay for a really attractive girl too. And the best part is you can leave whenever you want to with no strings attached.
If you can get all the so-called free sex you can handle, then all power to you. But I have found that there really are very few truly free things in life.

I think some of the posts on this thread are exaggerating the looks/wealth you need to get laid in HK. I don't look like a male model and I am not wealthy but do get laid regularly. If you really believe you need to be "stunningly handsome" or rich to get laid, then you have lost before you start. I have met girls here who are sick of the "you are so beautiful, check out my watch/car/boat etc". There are guys getting laid all the time, imagining them all to be investment bankers/models is a cop out.
That said, I do fully understand those who pay for it, particularly when you are travelling - its far easier.

Yeh that's true.
However, being rich and handsome really makes it easier to date a relatively hotter girl.
Being rich and/or handsome dosn't always mean the guy is a showoff or jerk. I think any girl would prefer a great AND rich/handsome guy compared to just a great guy. The rich/handsome should'nt make the guy any less great. Just like any guy would prefer a pretty AND nice girl compared to just a pretty girl, hahaha.
Check out any city any street and you'll see fat, slim, tall, short, stunning, ugly, whatever girls with boyfriends. So you don't need to be rich and handsome but selection may be limited compared to the rich and handsome.

Completely agreed. This discussion makes it seem like Hong Kong women won't date a man unless he's a millionaire supermodel. If that were the case, very Hong Kong women would get dates, let alone get married.
Of course the better looking and rich you are, the better your results. But the truth is, most women know that they're not perfect and won't attract a millionaire playboy. So they have to settle.
90% of Hong Konger men get married and have a normal sex life. I assure you that 90% of Hong Kong men aren't millionaires or supermodels. So a lot of the posts here are just exaggerations....perhaps exaggerations to justify why they're in the hobby or why they're hopelessly single.

We are talking about and mixing up 3 totally different things. 1) A local girl having a one-night stand with a random guy who is passing through town, 2) a local girl dating an expat who lives and works here, and 3) a local girl dating a local boy.
You are referring to case number 3 and you are 100% right, it is the same as any country in the world. There are a lot of things that local girls and boys have in common and as a result they meet, date, get married, have kids, and have a normal life. What started this discussion was case number one. Someone passing through town wants to have a one-night stand with a local girl. For whatever reason, we all know that this sort of one-night stand usually does not happen here in Hong Kong.
What we really are talking about is number 2, people like us, expats, who are living and working here dating local girls. When it comes to dating a local girl, it is not as easy as it might be in some other countries. It has to do with Chinese/local culture, girls upbringing, how the Chinese society in whole views inter-racial marriage, etc, etc. Is it possible to date a local girl? Of course! Is it easy? No! Would money and look help? Of course! Back in the US a 16-years old girl feels independent and feels she does not have to answer to her parents where as one local lady, age 31, that I had dated was worried about what her parents would think about her dating me. Girls here, like girls anywhere, look for future security and stability and for the most part we the foreigners are not known to provide that. Many of us are married, many of us do not have the same values that eastern people have, and many of us do not understand Chinese culture and traditions. So here is Ms. Princes, she had been raised by domestic helpers, she has never carried her backpack to school by herself, she has never walked in the rain because her nanny always walked behind her with the umbrella, she sleeps in bed with 50 stuffed animals, she does not do a damn thing all day long, and at night she goes partying in LKF. What is it that I have that is going to impress her? So we take the easy way, working class girls, non-local (Mainland immigrants) girls, domestic helpers, and of course working ladies.

As far as #2 is concerned, I'm too old to share any personal experiences in HK. But I do have a 24 yr old son who has now lived and worked there for two years. He does agree with your assessment that HK is more closed society than other countries (although I'm not sure I totally agree with him, given his limited 'experience' in living abroad).
The girls that go clubbing are looking for the young wel- to-do local and/or expat that will give them what they want in terms of material things. But it's less to do with 'inter-racial' marriage, and more with just being 'gold-diggers'. Btw us, my son is 100% Chinese, so when he goes clubbing, it's not a racial thing per se. He had a 'tough time' meeting locals, but 'broke' into the closed society because he happens to teach and tutor rich honkkies, who then in turn introduce him to young ladder climbing babes.
What happens in HK also is true in some other countries, although maybe not as prevalent. Singapore and Bangkok comes to mind. However in some other places, Jakarta being a prime example, the exact opposite is true. If you're young and hansum (translate = bule), scoring at the clubs with the rich and famous appears pretty common.
