But sad to say, while your western / outside ideas make logical sense, I am not sure that pinoy systems want to tolerate that. The 'Haves' are provided with a docile workforce who won't upset the status quo. The 'Havenots' do not get the anguish and depression of having unrealistic expectations repeatedly quashed.

Sorry to be the eternal pessimist but the reality is that the caste system is very much alive in the PI and other Asian exdictatorships. Having drive and the ability to problem solve is a total waste and can actually be counterproductive. One needs family or business connections to get, or stay, ahead. Without these one's lot stays the same for generations. Having a good idea and drive will not lead to changing the world and flying to Mars. 😊.

I do business in the PH and have a good understanding of the mindset and there are hurdles to cross. It's obvious to me that most 'systems' in the Philippines stem from the local government. In a lot of ways their political system can be seen to be pretty fucked up. But on the other hand, if you take a look at an old crazy orange guy going up against an even older current president in the USA later this year, you have to ask yourself the question, which place is more fucked up? 1st extension-29 daysP3530.

2nd extension-2 months P8950 with acr card.

3rd extension-2 months P3830.

Beeway is the cheapest I found in Angeles. They have a busiess doing this. Go early to them, or any=other reputable agent. Do NOT leave it till after your 20th or so day. Go early. Bring your passport, money, hotel etc details. They do the rest. The commision they earn is nore than worth your while.

Sounds right. There are travel agency 'fixers' who will pick up your documents and go to the BI office and get your extension for you and return it the same day. They typically charge p1000 for the service. You can save the p1000 by going to the BI office and doing it yourself. For example, to get the first extension yourself at a BI office would be about p2530. If you walk into the Intramuros BI office, you will see the fixers doing the job; they wear a purple vest. They often have a dedicated line where they simply drop off several customer's documents (complete with fees) bundled together with a rubber band, then sit for 20 minutes waiting for the extensions to be finished. The fixers get to skip the part of going to different windows. Once the extensions (or other documents) are complete, the fixer picks them back up at the same window and departs the building. The fixers seem to get priority treatment at the BI.

The p1000 they charge is small potatoes for travelers to have the option of not wasting time going to a government office and waiting in line. Beeway also provides other services, including door-to-door Manila-AC transportation (p3500), and generally does good work.

It's a 30 minute process in one of the smaller provincial offices eg Battangas but I'd agree that 500 p is well worth not having to taxi across town and multiple queues in Cebu, Manila or any of the other big centers.

I extended mine this week, took 45 minutes from arriving to exiting. This includes 10 minutes filling the form in. It was just over 3 k including the express service. This was in Cebu. I prefer to keep hold of my passport and do it myself.

I have just received the news from one of his two live in girl friends of a death of a mongering friend of mind in Angeles. As I am in Europe, I am not really in a position to offier practical help.

The guy was a Yank, with a son Stateside. He was renting an apartment and probably has assets of 1 million pesos max in the Philippines. Add a Yankee pension and that is about it.

The issui is this: as the girl friends are semi literates (not bar girls), lawyers are probably out of their range. I suggested they collect all relevant papers (bank books, evidence of ownerships, death cert) and contact a mutual friend, a European, to see what to do next. He was elderly and in bad health, so I doubt they were bonkng him. But thye gave up low paying jobs to look after him and now I reckon they are screwed, with no job, no nest egg and no Yankee apartment.

Any practical advice?
ps: there is no point me trying to exlain probabte, intestate, Phll AND US jurisdictions. They need soemone honest can guide them through. Lawyers are slippery eels at the best of times, but in Angeles.........

The obvious question is are the girlfriends included in the guy's will? If not, it's an uphill battle for a formal and legal solution.

Of course, if they were handling his shopping and finances as he got more infirm, then it's not unheard of for bank accounts to be drained while the legal process is taking place.

Where I'm from (non US), it can be exceedingly difficult for unnamed parties to get access to legal documents due to privacy etc legislation. Don't expect kids and family back home to come running to the rescue of grandpa's hot Pina girlfriends.

Good luck They could be ok if he had plans in place but they may be in their own on this one.

I doubt any PH or US legal court can help them. Doesn't sound like any plans were made. Sadly they are left to self-help.

I doubt there is any US legal system that would chase the girls.

But any profiles with 'fun', a WA number, a TG number are mostly FL. Ones with IG details are usually looking for followers IME.

Many girls looking for serious will eventually meet for money, it may take a number of days chatting but just keep saying you only want fun and happy to help them out.

The vast majority of my messages remain unread, these girls get 100's of messages from guys in the US (I've seen girls inboxes). I think many want to hook them into sending money and not meet for real.
