Sorry, that's bullshit. It's racism / xenophobia all the way.
It doesn't take a PhD in English to tell the price and perform sexual services. A white guy going to those places speaking Japanese would be rejected just the same. Similar places in Thailand have the same communication problems, but welcome foreigners. In fact, thinking about it, ONLY places in Thailand rejecting foreigners are those catering to Japanese.
Absolute racism and that seems to still permeate Japan. Just look at the way Koreans who have lived there for generations are treated. And yes, the "Japanese Only" clubs are overtly racist as are the bars that don't allow Indians. Sad that you still see that sort of thing anywhere on the planet.
Japanese people think they are above everybody, when you are in Japan you are considered to be a guest. Japanese also look down on other Asians.
Many brothels in Japan that are called Soapland are not gaijin friendly, not because people are of different races but because they have communication problems. The problem is more about language barrier. Even other Asians are not admitted to soaplands due to their lack of communication.
Not always. I've been to Tokyo 3 times. Stayed in Kabukicho and had no problem getting into the Soaplands. I'm from Hong Kong and don't speak any Japanese, but perfect English. I guess it helps when you have tattoos sleeves like mine along with well connected Japanese friends. Even in Bangkok, I was able to frequent Thaniya, which is Japanese oriented. The Thai girls who work there as hostesses and bar owners don't want cheap Asians I or Farangs. Those are hostess bars and karaokes, so sex is up the girl even after you pay for the karaoke room, drinks, and tips for the hostesses time. So expect spend about 6-8000 baht, not including take out for the girl. This is their way of weeding out their unwanted clientele types.
I keep telling folks on here that P4 P scene world wide isn't as easy as. "sex for money." Most of these girls have choices, so you better bring you A game and a wallet full of cash. I think some folks can't handle the fact that, that YES, there is racism against those coming from a Western country like America. Oh well, when in Asia, better to learn to play by their rules or go to plan be through Z.

I ve been living in Tokyo for a while, I have never had any trouble in Japan as a foreigner since I was able to keep a conversation in Japanese. I ve never been interested in mongering in Asian countries. Mongering scenes in Thailland is a waste of time unless you are only into Asians. I only monger in Russia, Brazil and some Eastern European countries. Japan is only for money.
I know Japanese people can't stand Chinese people. What they most hate is more and more Chinese people immigrate to their country. The last thing they want is to be invaded by other Asians.

Very insightful and essentially if you insert the word white male instead of westerners, my observation is that as usual, victims at the receiving end of racism are blamed for the prejudice they recieve (clothes money skin color, it's your fault darkie, etc), but when a white male experiences discrimination (Japan etc) the rules are different and it's outrageous.
The fact of the matter is, to Westerners of a certain age demographic, Thailand has been a playground for the men who feel marginalized by progress. Things have changed and they no longer are the perceived top dogs that they used to be and now must get in line. As the world turns as they say.
Not there yet
...Western men are better off in South America these days. Indo is still a decent choice in Asia though.
I am fairly familiar with South America, Tijuana, Rio, and Colombia, but I have also been mongering in Thailand since 2003, for a total of 20+ trips so far. I have been observing the teansition where Thai folks are catering more to Asians. I was shocked when I took a Chinese friend to Poseidon a few years back. I was charged the 500 bahts Farang surcharge and he was not, yet it was his first time in Thailand and the Poseidon staff knew me as I have been there many times. I never went back to that place.
However, I wanted to say that, for me at least, Thailand is still better than South America. Indeed, the white male is treated better there, but the service is still lacking, much more difficult to get GFE.

If its not as easy as sex for money than why do you need a wallet full of cash?
Your comments about Thaiya are also somewhat false or old news.
Many of the establishments in Thaniya are farang friendly now at least as far as letting you enter the premise, and all but a couple will allow Asian looking men. The only problem is that majority of the girls speak very little English and the business model is more catering to Asian tastes.
Most of the bars have 600 baht all you can drink promos. You then pay a couple of hundred baht per hour for the girl and also drinks. BFs are 600-1000 and the girls will go with customers without much hassle and expect to pay 2000-2500 for ST and 3000-4000 for LT. I usually go for a couple of hours and then take a girl out and pay around 4000-5000 all in. Not much different than a night out in an agogo.

I certainly do. It sure was a surprise when I found out that Asia tends to be worse than the West in this regard.

But then again, my idea of racism is based on there being a core element of hate due to a superiority complex in relation to race. While Thais do have some elements of this, it tends to be based on socio-economics, nationalism, and plain old ignorance with the last one being the biggie. But to say that it's the same or worse than the west (not you but someone else said this) is a bit far fetched.
In the West, we see a lot more violence based on this hatred. Also, there is widespread institutional racism and bigotry in the West. And due to the mixing of cultures and races in the West we often see more instances of racism than in a less culturally diverse country like Thailand. This is not an excuse though as this melting pot is the foundation of America but some specific groups continue to let their 'colors run deep'.
Getting back to the P4Pscene, there are just too many instances where we see farangs acting like their shit doesn't stink or thinking that are still in Kansas. For the most part, the Thais just ignore it, sabai sabai but I'm seeing things starting to change. The crazy tourism boom of the last 7 years or so is partly to blame. Also, the abrupt globalization of Bangkok has also rubbed quite a few people the wrong way as well but it at least brought in enough money for many to finally be able to feel that they are on equal or even an elevated playing ground.

To me the first incident you mention is far worse than certain clubs and MPs in Bangkok telling me for Japanese customers only, or I must buy a drink before entry into Bacarra (which I won't risk wasting my time doing due to problem to get a decent seat).
I feel that clubs are not so bad when they select what types of customers they want for one reason or another. Indians have a bad reputation for being the customers that complain the most, cause the most trouble, and spend the least. It is somewhat understandable that some venues just want to avoid those hassles.
The restaurant chef told me that a customer ate the expensive seafood portion of his plate and then complained his food did not taste nice and wanted a replacement or a refund. One guess what nationality he was. Yes it is wrong to assume that all persons of a race will be equally bad, and we should give people a chance to prove the generalisation is wrong. Unfortunately many places think they can sum up the character of a potential customer with a quick glance at him. So it is wise not to look like some stereotype.
I do understand that very full clubs like Bacarra maybe trying to discourage me from being a waste of space in their club, and they seek to maximise there profit. Some types of customers have a lower probability of being good spending customers, and lack of trouble customers.
I have been refused entry to some clubs because I wore sandals rather than shoes and socks. Seems a strange rule to me, but I accept they can decide who they want. There were alternative places that would take me. I almost never wear shoes and socks in Thailand. It's too hot and sticky for that mostly.
I would love it if all bars and clubs excluded stinky customers, regardless of their nationality. Sitting next to someone with severe B.O. is definitely a problem for me. Cigar smoking should also not be permitted. That is also hard to tolerate.

Sandy.
Anyone know where Sandy from Addicts Massage has gone?
I loved those silicons and she was very serviced orientated.

My wording was not quite clear.
Clothes money skin color line was about the comments here about all the reasons why Indians and south Asians aren't the victims of racism but it's their own fault as if to say well if you were more like us you wouldn't get treated so badly. They are cheap, they are smelly they are. This is racism marked up as your own fault darkie. Whatever the rights and wrongs of these sentiments, the double standard is when the white or westerner man experiences discrimination its not their own fault its an outrageous racism from the yellow man to the white man and must be stopped. It's amusing.
