Just for the info of others.
Just like backing up a phone or computer, I save all my new WA contact's phone numbers and pop them on a word doc for future reference or write them down.
I just tap on the three dots up the top in a chat, choose 'view contact' and then jot down their number.
I'd be lost if I lost those phone numbers.
Just my back-up plan as I know when things turn to shit, it's so frustrating.
As for your lost messages and pics G, commiserations. I'll have an SML for you.

Luckily the fix was much easier than expected: simply get another burner SIM, plug in the new number and the refresh automatically read the existing backup. The end result was all messages, photos, videos and contacts were reinstalled ie no loss of data.
Much better than I expected and I did it without the help of an eleven year old. 😜.
I was pretty concerned as is use WA for both meeting good and avoiding bad contacts. I never delete messages or contacts but just mark the psychos with an X. It's amazing the number of time girls will use different names, profiles and photos but the same contact details. The apps quickly recognise duplicates and the X let's me know not to waste any more time and just ignore her.

I know everything has gone digital, what social media apps are the best for hookups in AC now. I know about facebook and the klaw groups, personally most times I tried to meet girls online, it ends up being a huge time suck. So I always opted to go to freelance bars or nightclubs, then there is always the rail at phillys. With the high prices in AC bars, I'll just print business cards, walk into a bar and buy a girl a drink and slip her my business card, when she has a "Problem" she will call.
Lots of talk on the Manila and AC threads about Korean bars and girls prefer Koreans. Does that mean a Westernized Japanese guy like myself is out of luck at these bars same as a Caucasian guy?

The bonus I found one day on my first trip to Cebu was visiting a phone shop / shack on Mactan and a nice, pretty girl got me sorted. Within an hour there was a text message basically saying, "I'm the sales lady. Would you like to meet?
She didn't finish work until 11 pm and I knew I'd be pretty cactus by then.
I ended up 'bar-fining' her boss about 9 pm and had the best night.
Back in the days of the old flip phones, opportunities like these seemed to be better.
"If only we had social media back then" I sometimes think.
But then again, it was all creative and there just seemed to be surprises and opportunities arriving at every twist and turn on your travels in the Phils.
There just wasn't the opportunity to add them to your contact list on social media for next time as there is today.

I talk to a lot of girls in the bars of Angeles and Thailand. I ask them who their favorite nationality is. The consensus is the Japanese. They are the nicest, and they tip the best (overall, on the average). Not all, of course.
Oh, BTW. The consensus is that the Koreans, on the average, have the smallest dicks. Smaller than the Japanese. LOL! Actually, that's good for the Koreans. A lot of the Pinays do not like large dicks. They say it hurts. They like small dicks. That's the common answer when I ask them why they don't want to do Black guys. But that's BS. You have to change the date a few times on the price chart above the menus with the booking info, until you get to the cheapest one. The 1 p is for the airfare, then you pay the taxes and fees, it will show like 1800 p on the chart for the 1 p ticket. I ended up paying 3600 p for 2 pax. That's way cheaper than flying 1 pax to Cebu.

For Pattaya Walking Street gogo bars I would never be worried about running a large bar tab but for places like Pasteur Street in HMC I am more cautious paying drinks per round or two on the first visit. It's more so they can see I'm paying attention.

Each subsequent order (for you, or a LD for a gogo girl or waitress, or the barfine amount) is written on a separate chit and placed in the cup on your table. You should be able to grab all of them and total them anytime you want. This is similar to LA Cafe in Malate.
On Burgos, they just keep track of it at the bar. Its been some time, pre-covid, since I've seen anyone unhappy with the tab that he was presented with at the end of his evening. You can pay for each drink when they bring it, if you like. On occasion when I am sure that I am having just one drink in a bar, I will ask for the bill when the waitress sits the drink down on my table, allowing me to pay for it before finishing the drink, and waltz out later anytime I like. The same goes for some regular restaurants in Phils: If I am familiar with the place and they are often slow to bring my bill at the end of my time there (Bourbon bar and Cubana Cafe on Burgos come to mind, sometimes up to 15 minutes after I ask for it), I ask for the bill the moment the food arrives at my table.
I've just arrived Manila and have noticed some changes:
Compete the eTravel process at etravel dot gov dot ph BEFORE arrival. There are three steps: log in, created account and then click the travel icon and add traveller (s) details. Don't fuck it up as completing at the airport is horrendously slow and everytime the wifi drops out, you need to restart the process.
Check-in at my departure airport needed to see my (fake) onward ticket as I was returning in more than 30 days. NAIA Immigration didn't really care until I asked when I can extent the 30 to 59 days. She then asked where I was travelling and when I was (really) returning. She didn't give me any drama but just keyed in my truthful replies. She did need a hotel name that I was staying in upon arrival.
Visa extensions are now available immediately upon arrival at the airport. No need to go to an external BI office. Clear normal immigration, go up to the 2nd floor and amongst the government offices is a BI desk. 29 day extension available in 15 minutes for 3030 peso. Keep the receipt with the new expiry date.
Getting a Grab at the kiosk is a total cluster fuck. Just download the app before departure, gets local SIM and order your own. The info in the Grab website is incorrect: the kiosk and meeting point are at Bay 4 outside not Door 4. I paid skin tax and got a 30 day unlimited SIM for 2 k. Expensive but saves fucking around later and I needed data at the airport.

Otherwise you will end up with those who didn't do it, trying to get signal to complete it. Just screenshot the QR code and save it in your gallery so you can have it to show (when they decide to actually check it). Same with your onward ticket. I've been asked for it 1 out of 5 times I have been there, and it was my last trip when I arrived in June before traveling on to Gensan.
As for Grab, it is a cluster fuck no matter how you go about it. I only had luck using the Grab app when I arrived at Terminal 2 flying in on PAL. For terminal 1 and Terminal 3, it is just a really long wait. I almost always default to staying at a hotel near the airport that has a free shuttle. I have my Philippines phone with globe sim that I activate on arrival and call them. 10-15 minutes later, I am on my way. I usually arrive late evening after 10, so one night there and then go somewhere else the next day, or go on to province. Whatever you do, don't take a taxi.

I did not know about this. It only took a minute make an account though. I also downloaded the app, but it won't let me use that because I have developer options enabled on my phone.
