In the past I had good luck at the 3rd bar from the end on your right (but not onsite, we went to a room nearby). The name of that bar is a woman's name, Lydia or something. This time I had no luck there, so crossed the road and started to walk back east. And got hooked by this girl as I went past.

Upstairs there was a matress on the floor in a tiny room. Pretty nasty. I do not recommend it.

Guessing it is due to them apparently not caring that people smoke on the second floor, as it stank like hell and after 10s I went down.

Driving through Chiang Mai land a few hours ago I noticed a sign I have not see before, for body to body massage. Not something I plan on checking out, but perhaps somebody else here will be interested. If you're entering Chiang Mai land from Chang Klan road, the sign is on your left hand side, closer to to the highway side than to Chang Klan.

On Chang Klan Road, heading for Chiangmai Land, there were about 1 place on left and 2 or 3 on right, where very pretty girls stood outside their place of work, bar whatever, on the footpath, and wave you down as you pass by. 7's and some 8's in the main. Drinks girls in the main I suspect, but exchange of phone numbers and day time meet should be possible I think. Are those places, girls, still there? Have the number of such places increased lately?

Thanks[/QUOTE]Don't know if they've increased, but there are still places like that there, assuming you mean the Karaoke bars. Never been into one of them my self, but from what I've read here and there, it's difficult to not get ripped off there, even for Thais.

Obviously the places you've tried are places to stay away from, but I don't know if all "body to body" places in Chiang Mai are like that, including the new (? I could be wrong of course, but I drive to Chiang Mai land pretty often so suspect I've would have seen the sign before if it was there). Not sure how one would go about finding out what the service in such a shop entails before paying.

One time several years ago, before I stopped going for oil massages, I was actually offered a body to body massage at a regular massage shop. I didn't immediately understand what she meant at the time, except that she felt it would be "better" for me. Eventually I understood it entailed her taking of her clothes and massaging me with her body, for a 1000B tip. Since the woman in question was someone I would be more inclined to pay money to keep the clothes on instead, I could not help but letting out a small chuckle as I politely declined her generous offer.
