This from an LA Times article in Feb. 2008. Know your facts before you spout off.

Things may have picked up since the article was written, as Tijuana seems a bit busier to me than it was in '08. But it's nowhere near the "good old days" prior to the passport requirements, when Revu jumped all night long and you couldn't sleep for the noise until about 4am.

Sentri card, passport, pass port card, visa & I'd.) , and 1 line for those who DO NOT have their proper documents. Since they created the "expedited" line they only have 3 or 4 windows open to handle the people who have their proper documents instead of all the lines they used to have. I could be wrong because I've only crossed 2 times in the last 3 or 4 months but that was my observation.

I was forced to get a sentri card as I like to go down once or twice per week on average and live so close to the border I can see Tijuana from my place. 10 min. Drive down and 2 hour wait in line to return doesn't add up.

The new system should punish those without documents by only having 1 or 2 lines open (that will teach them to leave the country without a passport). Then the other lines should be open to those WITH passports or pass-cards. But. We are talking government agencies here.

A sentri pass is less than $2 per month when you factor it over 5 years.

From what I see CBP has set-up an ICE unit at the walking entrance and the car lanes heading into Tijuana from USA. Hired private guards to parole the walkway bridge and exit to USA. Many programs intoduced for Tijuana nationals to encourage legal crossing and shopping in USA. Few CPB booths to handle the overall flow. Drug war with fewer CPB booth staff. Rigid government agency which care less on the wait. Overloading the bus lanes for quick cross-over traffic does not help.

Actual American tourist traffic is way down this past year. All one has to do is walk down Ave Revolution to get a feel for this at peak time. Tijuana merchents still had the guts to increase prices by 20% on food items and some hotels, figure this one.

Hello! I had my first visit to Tijuana just over a week ago & had such an awesome time that it won't be my last! Matter of fact, I'm probably going again next week since I have lots of family down in San Diego. I'd been wanting to check out Adelita's sooo bad that I went by myself since my friends / co-workers pussed out on me. I was scared because people & the news talk about drugs / violence, but excited at the same time. The people I encountered during my trip were very nice & courteous and I felt safe the whole time I was out there. Being as cautious as I was, I talked with my cabby about which clubs to check out. He actually recommended some place called Purple Rain. But I had only heard of Chicago, Adelita's & Hong Kong. I decided to just try one place for the night and it ended up being Adelita's. I spent a good 3 hours total, ending the night with a big bang before the long drive back home. On my next visit, which club would you guys suggest going to next? I only want the best (9's / 10's) & I'm not comfortable with streetgirls.

Tell you the zona is "closed") so you can not trust them. Purple Rain is a massage parlor off the beaten track in an area that is dangerous to walk to / from and not generally recommended. Read the previous posts for the information you are looking for.

I cleared immigration at LAX in less than 3 minutes last night. At LAX, there is also a separate line for clearing customs. Clearing both, I was not asked one single question.

One line for US citizens and one for non-US citizens.

It had been a while since I ventured into "The greatest paradise in the Western Hemisphere".10 Months to be exact. I stayed at the Motel 6 in San Ysidro as I always do. Kind of a shitty place but convenient nonetheless. As an added bonus there's a Denny's right next door that's open 24hrs. I crossed into Mexico after a short cab ride from the motel. There had been several news reports that week of violence in Tijuana. I was a bit apprehensive but that's a good thing I guess. As I crossed over to the Cab Stand there were several dodgy characters milling about. I just pushed on.

The cab ride was crazy as usual. Tijuana kinda reminds me of Central Baghdad without all the constant calls to prayer over loudspeakers. The road conditions, and general filth as well as some of the architecture are kindred spirits.

Adelita Bar was packed. Mostly Mexican people enjoying themselves. A few Gringos. There was a nice selection of prime trim in the jernt. I decided to have a few drinks and take in the scenery at the bar near the entrance. I tipped the bartenders well with each beer. They never let my bottle get empty before a fresh one was waiting. Talk about service!

As I was scanning the place I noticed a real stunner near the stage. 5 Foot 6 or 7, Shapely legs, flat stomach, tiny waist, big fat fuckin' motherfuckin' fat fuckin' fake ass tits, gorgeous model / porn star face, and a big wonderful ass! I had to have her. I went up to her and offered to buy her a drink. She smiled and we sat down and started talking. Her name is Samantha from Vera Cruz and she is the best looking, sexiest one in there in my opinion. My spanish is very limited and her English was so-so. The Samantha I was with did not have a tramp stamp tattoo. I don't think she had any tattoos. There were quite a few Number 1 Stunners all three nights I went. That's all relative as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There were at least seven or eight perfect 10's and a ton of 7-9's. A lot of skanks too. Not nearly as many Gringos patronizing as back in 2007. The second night was better than the first. It was pretty busy in there after 10pm each night. For a while it was standing room only after about 1130 pm. I like to get there at about dusk or a little after in order to see the shift change. I try to go about twice a year. I live on the East Coast and the logistics and expenses are high. Worth it though. I've been mongering in Budapest, Hungary, Sofia, Bulgaria, Paris, France, Frankfurt, Mainz, Idar Oberstein, Trier, Schweinfurt, and Baumholder, DE. I found many great European women especially soviets and French. On the flip side far more expensive and not always very nice. Mexican Chicas are just far more warm and inviting. Caught up on the more recent posts in this thread, and can't thank all of you enough for the detailed info / reports! While my first trip to Tijuana / Adelita's ended up going arriba with the infamous Carla (which I don't regret at all BTW) , I was hoping for something a little closer to a GFE. I will be hitting up the Zone again this Wednesday evening, but will be going to HK first before AB since I didn't get the chance to check it out a couple of weeks ago! Although I felt safe there, it never hurts to have an amigo or two around.
