This post isn't directed towards the regulars, they know their style, but rather towards someone who may be gathering info to make a trip and since the topic of safety has been discussed below and there has been a few pages now in here that have followed "Sixty Two Echo" as well as over in the Boca Chica thread and a lot of mongers are giving him the stamp of approval I think it needs to be said that IMO he runs a high risk game and people not familiar with the DR need to know it. I applaud him taking the time to write such detailed reports while on his trip and lord knows we need more people like him that keep the prices down and performance up. I am not advocating that you throw money out the door or allow yourself to be a craven. But playing hard ball with the girls, taxis, etc, or having the police and security getting involved in disputes is not something the non-experienced want to get into, you can quickly find yourself in a mess over very little money and many people have.

I don't even think there is a thin line. IMHO it is cut and dry. I agree to pay you for certain tasks and you perform those particular tasks and I give you the agreed upon amount. Now if something that we didn't mention previously comes up and you feel that you need extra for it then say so right then. Don't come up at the end and spring it on me that I owe you an extra whatever amount that you pull out your ass that I didn't agree upon. And don't get mad if you decide you have to leave earlier than the agreed upon time, in which case I may give you less than the agreed upon money.

i have had some problems in the dr, for instance hiring a person to repair a refrigerator or a washing machine. they offer a very reasonable rate for the job, and of course will come up with a list of parts that need to be bought, which they will add to the bill. in the us few people will really question the mark up on the parts, but in the dr it is best to buy the parts yourself, otherwise you will probably be presented with an invoice for parts showing inflated prices, or inferior parts that will soon break down.

but repairing a fridge is not the same as sex, because sex is a two-way street and both participants have to contribute to make it a memorable experience.

yes, of course it would be stupid to hand out the full asking price to every female you see and there would be no guarantee of better performance, but there are all kinds of buyers and sellers, from multimillionaire russian businessmen to whom $100 means nothing, to guys who are willing to risk going to jail to save 500 pesos towards their next girl.

of course there is a balance to be struck. if you get a reputation for never paying more than 1000 pesos, then some girls will come to you if they want to take your money, and others will give you a wide berth.

just don't think that by refusing to pay more, you are doing something to keep prices down for other people. the market is too diverse for that and if you were really successful, you would drive more providers out of the market. just do the math. if each monger in sosua is spending only 2000 pesos daily on sex, how many women will that support in the market if each needs to make 2000 pesos each working day to cover expenses and provide a working margin?

you can say, if you like, that these girls can live on almost nothing, but the costs of finery, hairstyling, salon treatments and the like is quite high and is necessary to be competitive, and then if the girl has a child, which most do, there is the cost of formula, food, medications, [url=http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord131][CodeWord131][/url], soaps, shampoos, creams, visits to the pediatrician, clothing, and possibly school and school supplies if the child is a bit older, which are not cheap. even the round trip on the bus from santo domingo is 800 pesos, contrary to some information recently posted here.

while you may believe that most hookers in sosua spend all their money on drugs and boyfriends, as also reported here, it is still inevitable that part of their earnings will filter down to supporting their children and parents, and at least leach out into the general economy, so i don't think paying slightly more than the absolute minimum is really detrimental to anyone.

in the end everyone has to decide what is their entertainment budget and keep to it or go broke. some guys might just spend 2500 pesos once a month for a girl at la passion, and think it great value, while others might find this an outrage. but there is no need for a lot of conflict over these things. if a girl isn't willing to meet what you would like to pay, you can just move on without hostility or rudeness. if she likes you, she may come back the next day, or the day after with a counter offer.

it is best to thoroughly interview candidates before going to the room to ensure that there is some chemistry or affection between you, but if things go wrong in the room, for whatever reason, and she is demanding more, it is best to come up with a counteroffer and put the whole thing down to experience.

i have to laugh though, when i read things like "we had only been screwing for 45 minutes when she started to encourage me to finish, so i threw her out and refused to pay her a dime." some people don't have a clue.

Don't worry about Infinity-blu. If you have a regular girl, she will be able to come in, and there are short term rental room like Calypso and Dulce Secreto where you can take others. I generally consider brand promotion to be a scam to rip off consumerized lemmings. But I have to take issue with Frannie over the Hellmans. I have tried numerous cheap alternatives here and found them sadly wanting, which is why I said it is one of my few extravagances.

I bought a 15 fl oz jar in La Sirena for 150 pesos on Wednesday. I realise I could have bought 10% of a young haitiana for the night for that money but in this climate the well-being of my stomach and bowels are paramount.

Better than First Class, which is the La Sirena house brand.

I have tried various "First Class products". Generally poor. And I broke a tooth on a piece of shell in one of their cereals which is still costing me money and hassle. I have never believed much in "you get what you pay for" when it comes to chicas, but it seems to work for packaged foods here.

I just wanted to present the other side of caution because of the amount of reports. He is an experienced monger that has decided how he wants to play the game and I respect that but many of us, especially us Americans can't stand being what we think is being taken advantage of and stand our ground on principle, Hey I have even been there done that but at the end of the day it is not worth the problems you can get into by saving a few peso.

Experienced mongers with good spanish can hold their ground on prices with chicas much easier. Rookies, with limited vocab, is a little harder.

Remember that not accepting someones first price offer in the dr is normal, and accepted, compared to the us. Also remember if a chica turns down your offer, chances are a chica as good, if not better will be right there shortly, and you will not be empty handed for long. Last thing to remember is that you are not back home, and the rules are different, so swallowing your pride, and coughing up a couple pesos in a tough situation could be the difference between a good vacation, and one that you will regret.

I was there about a month ago, it was business as usual. Also went to CMP.

My three friends on this trip have been to DR about 15 or 20 times between the three of them. I have only been there twice. They say Passions is the best place to go, and I cannot argue. The chicks there are hotter and there is "never any drama"! (disagreements or misbehaviour). I also find the layout better than CMP. At Passions the girls are on display in the bar center area and you really get a good look. At CMP they are all sitting down and YOU are on display when you walk in, all eyes are on you. It feels more awkward.

Everyone is entitled to personal taste, but I go more for the thin athletic girls who are towards the Spanish end of the scale than the "curvy" (thick) black girls you find elsewhere in Sosua. I found one beautiful model-type at Passions who was just top notch I spent most of my time with her. Of course each to his own, if you like the "meat on the bones" black chicks, you will be in heaven at Sosua.

As for me, I will likely not return. I prefer the European scene even though it is more expensive and the weather is worse than DR. If you are a pasty white guy like me, everywhere you go in Sosua someone will be trying to hassle or rob you. I encountered at least one pick pocket near Rumba and fended off a number of other threats.

It kind of caught us off guard. I guess that's his style, and it kind of rubs you the wrong way, how candid he is, borderline arrogant". But once you take a step back and realize that's "his personality" then you find yourselves "agreeing" with him. I'm cool with him, but I wouldn't come at "every" situation as hard as he does. It sounds like it "works" for him, but I'm more inclined to agree, with your advice to newbies.

I would imagine the real stuff would be better. They also had Kraft, Mazzola, Baldom, First Class, and some other local brands, so plenty of choice. I have eaten the local brand of sandwich spread. It was execrable.

Hellman's may be better, but I am always sceptical about brands. When eating in restaurants how many people really ask what brand of mayonnaise they are getting on their hamburger, what brand of coffee, what brand of milk in their coffee, what brand of sugar, and so on? Dominicans will always ask for Carnation milk or Colgate toothpaste, but never actually notice if they are given a cheaper brand.
