I think they will have moved on by now. Local non-tourist orientated lady entertainment in straight-up brothels should be about 500 bht by today's prices.

I am visiting Kanchanaburi for a few days as I am currently renting an apartment in Bangkok and decided to take a break form the chaos of Bangkok. It's about a two hour journey by bus from Thonburi bus station in Bangkok or one can also take the train from the Thonburi station. It's the location of the bridge on the River Kwai and POW camp made famous by the movie and book. Also, here are wild life preserves, kayaking on the river, and various jungle hikes. I found the weather cooler than in Bangkok and a very laid back pleasant town. As I decided to take a Thai girl from Bangkok, it lessened my mongering opps but I did have an opportunity to explore the nightlife in Kanchanaburi last night as my girl opted to stay in room.
There are about six bars in a row in the main area of the street where the road curves towards the main boulevard. There were several women beckoning me to come in for a drink. However, I was told that most locals avoid these places. There are also scattered bars and restaurants on both sides of this street, which directly parallels the river Kwai amd leads to the bridge that crosses the river. A couple of girls enticed me to come in to one of these bars and I engaged a girl from Isaan in a 15 minute chat. To cut to the chase, she said that she would come to my room for 2 hours and I could have sex with her as much as I like in that time. Up to you! The cost was a 300 bhat bar fine, 1000 bhat tip to her so the total cost was more or less $40 USD. Since I already had company in my room (I will write a separate story on that), I would have to get a short term room, which would run me another 500 baht.

Spent a couple of days in Khao Lak lately in checked out the local scene. I guess you can call it a "micro scene" that is both small and keeps a low profile. Officials want to maintain the reputation of a family travel destination and won't allow much of a scene to develop.
Thanks to the previous reports here, I started my journey with a visit to Violet Bar. Just returned from a trip to Danok in Sadao and Betong in Yala. Both are border towns catering for Malaysian sex tourists. For Danok report see the Danok thread of Thailand forum.
I got to Betong from Danok via Malaysia. It took quite reasonable 3. 5 h by taxi and buses. Betong enjoys a relatively cool mountain climate and there are nice views from many high-rise hotels. I stayed at the Mandarin Grand, which is apparently the best hotel in town. The town is small and one can walk to most places of interest. The hotel is geared to ethnic Chinese from Malaysia but unlike Danok many Malaysian tourists in Betong are of Indian descent. They probably are less affluent than Chinese because all agogos and karaokes in Betong are staffed only by Thai ladies, available at lower prices than Chinese girls in Danok.
There are several karaoke bars and nightclubs with striptease shows along the street where the hotel is located, especially towards the Merlin hotel. The next parallel street also has a few massage shops, staffed by older ladies.
The main area of nightlife is in the southern part of town, around the Grand View hotel. To get there from the Mandarin hotel you can either take a tuk-tuk for 20 baht or just walk through the tunnel that connects these two parts of town. A walk takes about 10 min. I don't know prices on strip performers in clubs but most ladies in karaokes ask for 2500-3000 baht for long time. Their quality is quite low and in Pattaya they would never get more than 2000 B. While some of them usually sit in front of their establishments, some hide inside and often a papasan invites passing potential customers inside the shop and then calls all the girls for a line up. However, I noticed that the most attractive girls usually are the ones sitting in front so there is no advantage in actually asking for such a lineup.
The Madarin hotel bell boy pestered me with offers of 'beautiful' girls whenever I passed him in the lobby. Eventually I decided to try his contacts and asked him to organize me one. I gave him the exact parameters like height, skin color, etc. Of a girl I wanted. 30 min later he brought several rather ugly specimens totally disregarding my requirements. I sent them all away but half hour later another bunch was brought to my room for inspection. The same low quality. Later in the evening I noticed two white-skinned slim beauties with what looked like a mamasan walking out from the hotel. Food sucks in Betong as, just like in Danok, most restaurants serve only Chinese food. I managed to find one small air-conditioned steak restaurant near the Betong Plaza shopping arcade which served reasonable quality semi-Western food.
To get back to the nearest civilized town with an airport in Thailand I took a 2. 5 h taxi ride from Betong to Yala, and then another 2. 5 h ride by van to Hat Yai. Did not see any Western tourists.
Until Hat Yai. The drive to Yala is very scenic and goes through the mountains with limestone cliffs and along a long lake. Airconditioned taxi from Betong to Yala was 1500 B. The second leg of the trip by van cost only 100 B.
My Thai mobile SIM card did not work in Betong. At first I thought it was a problem with my phone but was told later that due to the security situation there with all the Islamic insurgency only locally registered mobile numbers were allowed connection.
A soon as I got to Hat Yai my phone started working again.
In response to several inquiries from a few weeks back:
Chiang Rai has a soapy massage at the very nice Wiang Inn Hotel. If you are facing the hotel, walk down the right side towards the back of the hotel. You'll see neon lights and the massage parlor. Some times cuties, some times not. A while back I had an absolute doll who pretty much forced me to do anal on her pretty behind.
Kanchanaburi: the action is light other than the silly "Hello Handsome man" bar scene on the tourist strip previously mentioned. But I found two fun places. On the left of the fishbowl they commanded 3,000 B, and 3,500 B on the right. Incredibly expensive for a small cowtown like Kanchanaburi, right? NO! The girls were gorgeous! I happened to choose Miss Thailand (I'm joking, but she would easily meet the bar), her name was Noi. (None of these girls wears a number.) Her face was stunning, her figure shockingly perfect in all ways, she enjoys sex as much as I do, and she doesn't speak more than ten words of English. She was easily the most gorgeous woman I've ever seen in the business in Thailand. I will always see her on my return to Kanchanaburi.
Across the street from River Paradise and backtracking maybe 100 yards as you head back towards where your hotel probably is located (the tourist ghetto), you'll find an older hotel with "Thai Massage" written on the side of the building. There were about five nice-looking girls to choose from. Mine was lots of fun, and her price was reasonable. The place had a pleasant, somewhat sleazy feel to it.

The prior post reconfirms what a local Canadian guy told me several weeks ago. I just did not know exact location. Thanks for confirmation of prices, locale, and talent. And yeah. That's expensive for that cowtown but sounds like it is worth the price.
I was in Chiang Rai in Aug-Sep last year. The night clubs Sperm and Par Club on Ratanaket Rd, widely described in many previous reports on the internet, are now closed. A bit futher down the same road, just before the drive entrance to the Central Plaza shopping centre, a club / disco Sugar Beat (also Sugar House) is open every night from 10 pm. Local taxi drivers pronouce its name as 'sukhabit'. A signboard on the building promises 'supermodels' and 'coyotes'. About 10 coyotes they do have dancing but the girls are no models by a long stretch. Good looking and not fat they are rather short though. Beer costs 110 be. No idea how much the girls are but a taxi driver told me this is considered the club now in the city with the most beautiful girls.
Love motels in the same area seem to have usually a few girls available for hire on the premises. The best of them, the Red Rose Hotel, had about 5 when I went there. Girls were not young and very average in look.
Went to the coyote Thai style establishment in Sonambin Rd opposite the La Luna hotel, not far from the old airport runway. Girls there, about 5 of them, were better and younger than in the motels, but also short.
A new nightclub, named you-turn, has opened on the main road to the airport across the river a few km from the city centre. Don't' bother going there, it's very small, and locals told me it was not interesting.
The Face Bar / Disco at the SaenPhu Hotel, a few min walk from the clock tower down Baanprakarn Rd has nothing to offer to mongers. Teenage clientele, mostly groups, sitting at tables with a band playing. No dancing. There is also a karaoke in the basement of the hotel but when I went there it was empty except for one bored fat girl at the entrance busy playing with her phone.
The massage parlour at the Wiang Inn, near the Wangcome hotel, has about 10 girls in it, all old and ugly.
The massage parlour at the Little Duck hotel, which is about 700 m down the main highway from the Central Plaza, has similar low quality ladies.
There is no massage special service at the Dusit Island Hotel, in case you've read that there is.
The only area worth hunting in for quality is around the Wangcome Hotel in Jetyod Road, especially a strip of massage shops on the left if you face the main hotel entrance.
I walked passed them and on several occasions some of them had very good looking, fair-skinned, and young girls there waiting for customers. The good looking ones don't pay attention to passerbys, only less attractive women try to entice you into the shops for massage. However, from talking to mamasans most of these girls are also available to join you at your hotel. Most but not all. Ask mamasan about a girl you are interested in if she can 'boom-boom' and she will tell you. Don't expect much English language skills from them though. Price was 2000 be.
There are also a few small typical farang beer bars usually with a few hostesses round the hotel too. The girls were average in look and short.
Actually all Chiang Rai girls working as entertainers that I've seen were short. So don't come here if looking for a taller type.
The strip of agogos that was mentioned in older reports in a small lane off Jetyod Rd near the corner with Baanprakarn Rd, also near the Wangcome hotel, was shut down. Apparently due to lack of customers I was told. I was also told that there were no more Burmese girls or Akha tribe girls working there. I guess life in Maynmar is better now.

Yeah, Jet Yod is silly, I've taken out a few beauties from the massage parlors near Wiang Come Hotel, and passed on all the ladies on my last visit to the Wiang Inn shower massage, but will check in there as well, as things change.
