as i'm earning aud it isn't such a burden. i might actually mention the tip beforehand to encourage performance.

as i've mongered in cambodia, vietnam, singapore and gaylang, hk, malaysia and china i feel the need to weigh in. while cambodia and vietnam may be cheaper for myself its the ease of mongering which draws me to thailand as well as the cost of accommodation, the food and essentials like alcohol and cigarettes as well as more extreme venues like eden/devils den. maybe if i worked in cambodia or vietnam i would have the time to invest in obtaining actionable on-the-ground intelligence but sadly i don't which makes thailand the easier option.

i've yet to make it to pi yet but maybe because english proficiency is a more prevalent then it could make for a more enjoyable experience with the girl.

Just a case of walking around or if that is too much hard work then ask someone.

Do they use tap water (which in Thailand is ok to drink)?

Do they use Klong water from the canals, which is pretty dirty?

Do they use Evian water to brew the beer with?

The only dirty water I would not want them to make beer with is the dirty water that that accumulates in my scrotal sac (and well yes, the Klong water would not be good for beer as well).

however most people give over a 1000 baht note at the end, which pays for the girl, a drink and then the change from the 1000 baht they give to the girl directly (so around 225 baht yes).

you must always remember in thailand the following :

if you leave a tip in the tray / folder after getting your change back that tip is shared between all staff.

if you hand a tip directly to the girl / server, and leave a few coins in the tray she can keep all you give to her, and what is left in the tray, if any, is for sharing with the other staff.

so many farangs have no idea on this and you can see the server in a bar cringe when a customer leaves say 100 baht as a tip for good service, but leaves in on the tray and does not hand it to her directly.
