The raid was about the usual. Getting payment from the bar. No customers were taken. Although customers are not allowed to leave until the entire process completed.

The customer had to pay their bill and sit until they finished clearing the bar. That took 3 1/2 hrs.

Raids are about the Bars and the girls. Not the customers. They want to catch BM / BO for H / T and any one involved in the transaction. Waitress, mamasans.

The BGs are taken as a means to extort money from the owners. They place a "fine" on each girl knowing the girls can't pay. Rumors are about 15 to 20,000 p per girl.

So the only way the girls get out is for the owner or "lawyer / representative" to pay. If he don't have girls, he can't open the bar. Simple as that. So they pay.

While the APEC conference was going on, they had lots of extra police from other areas of the Philippines here (probably quite a few from Manila region) and things operated pretty smoothly.

With increased traffic enforcement and re-routing of the Perimeter Road traffic, traffic was light. Perhaps after the first few days, all the Filipinos that like to drive cars / motorcycles without current registrations and motorcyclists without helmets etc. All stayed home rather than risk fines.

The Department of Social Welfare had rounded up all the street children and parked them somewhere. They were absent for almost the whole conference.

The gypsy ladies with the babies were absent.

There was not really any noticeable reduction in Vitamin salesmen (LOL).

There were police everywhere and at least for a short while, things seemed almost like the real world. I would imagine that petty crime was down.

Now. . . Things are right back to where they were before the conference.

With little (mostly NO) enforcement, we are back to every Filipino ignoring ALL the rules.

It would be a good guess that there will be more raids, the city must have tallied quite a bill supporting the APEC conference and trying to put their best show on.

I'm thinking of visiting Angeles and will appreciate if the members who have been there over the last 12 months could tell me if the type of girls I'm interested in are available in the town's bars and agogos. I'm after relatively tall gals (at least 165 cm /5'5") of slim built and with fair skin. From my last experience, 5 why old now, in the country I know that most girls available to Western sex tourists are dark and rather midgets like. It used to be different of course and in the early 90's when I started frequenting the Philippines I often encountered truly model type girls. I'm talking about sweet old times when Ermita was still a bustling center of adult nightlife. Last time I was in Angels I was appalled by the quality of working girls there. It was such a contrast with what I remembered about it. Anyway, perhaps things have changed now and the quality has improved. So the question again is how much luck I'm likely to have in Angeles if I only look for tall fair-skinned chicks? I fully appreciate that if there are such ladies available they are likely to be more expensive than the average bar hostess.

I've seen them quite a lot recently, since about 1 or 2 weeks ago, can't recall that exactly. They are not doing anything. They are just standing there and keeping an eye on everything I guess. They are not chasing away or arresting street walkers or anything like that. Although I wouldn't recommend to negotiate with a SW right under their eyes.
I've also seen a couple of tourist police officers. I cannot recall that I've ever seen so much police in Walking Street before.

There has been additional Station 4 police assigned to Walking Street. I would guess that it has been easily going on for the past 6 months, maybe longer.

They seemed to have started the extra police support around the time that they made a bigger effort to make it into Walking Street not what it was before.

Except for the "ACMETMO" police that are tasked with getting rid of any cars / motorcycles / food carts sometime after 4 or 5 PM, the Station 4 guys do wander up and down the street and also seem to be stationed on the corner at Kokomos. You should be able to recognize the ACETMO officers as usually they are the only ones that ARE allowed to ride their motor scooters up and down the Walking Street and wear orange shirts with the logo on the back.

I have never seen the Station 4 police actually do anything or interfere with anyone but then I am never down there between midnight and 5 am when all hell could be breaking loose for all I know.

I feel safer (LOL) now that they are there.
