Is it really?
Since before 2007.
http://www.nationmultimedia.com/2007/07/01/opinion/opinion_30038826.php
Of course, as the article notes, those companies that sell bottled water will continue to market the scare stories, after all, selling water in bottles is their business, if everyone drunk tap water they would be out of business.
Simple really.
Is it really?
One should check the water at the tap end, not much at the provider end where on principle it should be drinkable.
Often the pipings are debatable.

And what "principle" is in effect at the provider end?

And what "principle" is in effect at the provider end?
I did not say you have to literally check the water, but the statements of the water supply companies are based on checks done at the origin of the supply, ie the water they out in the system. At that point it is, on principle, safe water. What comes out at the other end is debatable. That is out of control of the water supplier.
"on principle", means that the parameters set by the national health authority are met or supposed to be met.
The monitoring is frequent but not constant.
Do not also forget that every human body is used to a certain type and amount of bacteria based on his standard living and country of origin.
It is well known that a local water can give a foreigner some health troubles and doesn't harm at all the locals, or very few.
It goes also down to the sensibility of each individual.
This has nothing to do with health quality of the supplied water.

I don't know about all the science that is being thrown around regarding tap water in Bangkok and I've been living here for sometime not BKK but I'm not going to drink the water when I have never seen a local drink it. A quick question? If some of you have been to Hong Kong and Bangkok what City would you drink out of the tap and feel safe? I would think Hong Kong but a few years ago I forgot where I was and drank tap water a few times and the maid told me you shouldn't do that. A day or so later I got real sick shaking sick with chills. I went to the doctor a British nearby and she told me " don't drink the water ".
Now that was Hong Kong, a few years ago and I'm sure things have changed but how much I won't take the chance again I went to Bangkok / Pattaya hospital to have a large cut addressed and after the doctor told me to cover it when I take a shower and to use bottle water or boil water after it cool to wash the area. I ask him why and he explained that although it looks clean but the water in Thailand has lots of chemicals and your cut will heal faster and the skin will heal more normal. Now I'm in Pattaya but I don't think the system in BKK is much different that what Pattaya has?
In the end, to each his own but personally I wouldn't! A few weeks ago after all these years here I got the stomach flu or something and my toilet wasn't pretty.
Good luck with the water fellas?

The water running tap in Bangkok is went through a water treatment facility for purified process. The water from underground wells pump into the treament tank for added chemical to elimitate all harmful bacterias. After all done, the water then pump into the consumers piping grid. The tap water is not taste good because of the
Purified chemical its contain. You can drink it, however, I only drink bottle water from 7-11 store

Water-Ice
One other thing on the water. I have gotten sick twice in Pattaya. Both times I am sure it was because I drank a drink with ice in the glass. I thought the first time was a fluke, but damn, if it did not happen a few months later. It screwed up several days of both trips.

For those who still don't get it, head over to the Nibu Raphael thread for a more detailed explanation and complete analysis.
I don't know about all the science that is being thrown around regarding tap water in Bangkok
LBM
Not necessarily the "science" belongs to BKK. It is applicable all over the world, more in some countries I do not want to label them as the definition might be restrictive.
The bottled water companies might have some influence to pursue their own interests, but do not have it to the extent of getting somebody sick when he drinks tap water or use ice coming from that.
And that happens! We all know that. Period.

Watwe ice can be bad

Tap water and water. Ice are two totally different matters. You may be okay to drink tap water in Bangkok, Some can't because the body must contain the strange bacteria in Thailand, let's say it is different type that body is familiar in the USA. However, all most people get sick when drink the water-ice in Bangkok because the strange chemical mixed in water to make hard ice. I call it contaminated during the process liquid to hard ice. So, be aware, I drink the cold beer without ice and it is taste better that way.

Bangkok Reports!
Somebody asked a question, they got an answer. Get over it.
I believe the name of this thread is Bangkok reports. Correct me if I am wrong please! Asking a question is one thing but pages and pages going on about where to buy orchids, debates about whether to drink the tap water and so on is just ridiculous. I think questions and discussions like this belong in the Thailand expat thread or general discussion threads.
This threat I think should be used for Bangkok mongering reports.
Went to Soi Cowboy last night and pulled a nice one from Suzie Wongs. Huge tits, white skin, firm ass. My dream girl. 2500 ST. DATY was amazing. I like unshaven but neatly kept.
The view when she was riding me was incredible and doggy was great, could not hold on any longer.

Recent Bangkok report
just spent a few days at the dynasty inn on soi 4 near sukhumvit. trolled around the nana complex to check out the dancing ladies, and found them to be very attractive but kind of disinterested as always. i've had bad experiences with the gogo girls in the past so i just look and whet my appetite. later i pull the freelancers hanging around outside the actual bar complex. no bar fines and they all go for about 1000 baht for short time. not as good looking as the gogo girls but generally excellent service, plus i have a chance to chat with them a bit and / or buy them a drink at a local bar and check them out for a few minutes. i went two out of three for those three days, two girls were excellent gfs with lots of kissing, daty, bbbj and multiple positions. the other one was still good but didn't like to kiss, so i didn't push the issue. you can find all ages and body types out on the street.
i also tried dr bj's new place and found that to be a good experience, too, on soi 7. 700 baht for a "nurse" and excellent bbbj. gave her a 200 baht tip. definitely nicer facility than [CodeWord901] on soi 8.
off to phuket now for a week. more reports and pics to follow.
