From Kiev it is lufthansa to Franfurt and on the way back it is Ukrainian Airlines. Condor flies from Europe to Dominican and I paid about $800 US for her ticket.

Also once she will land tell her to go to the transit area, she will have to pass immigration but if she will have a ticket this should be no problem. However, each case is different depending on immigration officer, airline staff etc. Too many variables. Also I thing that charter airlines are not in global system and they won't see her in local system, but I could be wrong.

Check it on [URL]checkmytrip.com[/URL] (confirmation should have 6 letters or digits) . If you booked 2-3 single tickets, she needs a visa.

I looked more into the subject as Ukrainians are do not need a transit visa for Germany but it really depends on the country and airport since the danger is that a person in transit could simply walk out of the airport if there is no separate transit area to stop them from doing so.

My UA girl flew from Kiev through London and Frankfurt to DR all booked on one ticket in 2014.

She did not need a transit visa just to change the airlines within a few hours at Frankfurt.

But she also did not need a transit visa for an overnight stay in London, and they even let her out Heathrow on both ways! She wandered into London and had a blast! She probably had better time in London than in DR with me.

They probably let her out because she had all the boarding cards to DR and also her checked-in bag was checked in from Kiev all the way to DR. So in London she only had her carry-on with her.

Visa to pass through the UK in transit.

Overview.

You may need a visa to pass through the UK in transit.

To apply for a transit visa you must be:

In transit to another country with enough funds and the intention to travel on.

Able to prove you can enter that country.

Able to show that the only purpose of your visit to the UK is transit.

Not leaving the airport.

Apply for a Direct Airside Transit visa (DATV) if you'll be changing flights in the UK and won't be going through UK border control.

DATVs last for up to 24 hours.

You can't apply for this visa if you need to go through immigration ('cross the border' eg to check in your luggage on to a connecting flight. Apply for a Visitor in Transit visa instead.

Leaving the airport.

Apply for a Visitor in Transit visa if you'll be going through UK border control but leaving the UK within 48 hours.

You can also apply for a long-term Visitor in Transit visa if you can prove you need to frequently pass through the UK over a longer period.

Fees.

Direct Airside Transit visa (DATV) - £32.

Visitor in Transit visa - £59.

But as in my post below its up to the Immigration officer if he or she waives the need for a transit visa if one is leaving the next day.

These airports feature split field sides for international connections and domestic. Passport checks are only done when changing from international to domestic. In the UK it depends very much on terminal and airline used, but usually you'll have to go thru passport checks. And when traveling on multiple tickets multiple tickets this usually requires a (transfer) visa for citizens of many countries, including UA.

To take it she needs to legaly enter Shengen area, which requires a visa. Only direct connections between two flights leading from / to non Schengen countries can be connected without a visa. And only on airports prepared to offer this service. Usually the larger ones, like Frankfurt and Munich.

Even if she don't want to leave the transit area. The first airline don't know about the 2nd ticket and another flight and they will check the visa in the passport. But serious, why did German airports spend so much money in building complete seperate areas, tunnels and gateways for transfer passengers? It's because of German policies regarding transfer passengers. They do not legaly enter the country at all, and border controll does not care about them (unlike in the UK).

So again, there is no legal or practical reason stoping her from changing airlines in Germany, as long as both flights originate / end in non Schengen places. Now, if some airline makes a fuzz, it's not a principal issue. And your obligation as a gentleman to make it happen, for exampel by providing all neccersarry information to your lady (and thus the airline) ahead of time.
