It is not safe to drink. Look around at all the Thai people drinking only bottled water, even though they have much lower salaries compared to foreign tourists.

Ice is safe because it is not made with tap water.

MEXICO is the country with the don't drink anything with ice in it caveats.

Not one person I know of here has ever had a problem with ice in drinks.

My Saturday night started off with watching football in a bar opposite mine, down under. Terrible result to be honest.
