Hello all!

I'm arriving in BKK on a Thursday night around 11:30pm by the time I get situated I'm sure it will be around 1am. I don't want to waste any time LOL, Anyway I was wondering where could I go to find me a nice hottie to bring back around that time? I'm staying in a hotel in the Sukhumvit soi 7/1. I know the Beer Garden is around there but not sure I'll make it there on time. Any recommendations?

It was max 10 min drive and he want 350 bath for this short trip.

Shure he was trying to cheat me becaus the day before it was only about 40 bath for the same trip. So just to warn you. Be aware of the cheaters. And don't have to big money on you for the taxi.

I have no problem at all with paying a good tip for the driver. Usualy I always pay up til nearest 50 og 100 when I'm using a cap. But this guy only got 40 bath. He wantet to call the police becaus I was trying to cheat him. But for me no problem at all. I just went away in to my hotel. And I think he left.

Anyway in a situation like this I really don't know what will happend if Hi was calling th cops. Will they belive me or him? Or would they even show up at all?

Several times I have been asked for a high price, usually late at night outside a busy tourist spot. Can either accept, negotiate or walk away. Accepting and then not paying is not a wise option.

Hey Bionicman, Please explane more. I have only been to BKK 6 or 7 times. Each time I come out of arrival there is a group of Thais at a table and the taxi's are lined up. You pay those people at the table and they give a ticket to the taxi driver. I have tried to get a taxi and the drivers won't budge without that ticket. You mentioon that it might because we are picking up a taxi at departures. I am comming directly out the door where you pick up your luggage and head outside. Also by main level do you mean the departure level. I thought that the departure level was above the arrival level. Help me out so I can save some baht next time around.

Is this a private taxi without meter why did you just say no if he quote you 350 bht and take another taxi most taxi driver want to charge you more at Nana plaza lat at night, if he call a cop is your world against his, I would offer him 100 bht see if he accept that I know people get beat up for that use your head next time.

If you want to save some bht take the arilink express train go to makasan station is very fast is only 100 bht, you can take taxi from there to the hotel or short walk to subway station if you don't have alot of luggage, if I take taxi I go to arrival level pick a taxi just drop some one off meter to suk is about 280 bht.

And then I always ask the drive to put on the meter because that's most fair for everyone.

Then there's a price to pay after the meter and nothing to argue about.

Then its also up to me to pay extra if I like to or not.

But this guy had a hat over the meter so I could not see it before I was at my destination. And when I ask him to turn on the meter he reply that it was on.

It rarely makes sense to take a taxi that is just sitting there (except at the airport example below) , or even to acknowledge their existence. You'll just waste your time and pay more than necessary. Instead, flag down (by pointing at at the ground in front of you) one that is moving with the red light on.

At the airport, departures (level 4?) is above arrivals. You can pick a taxi up there without paying the 50 baht fee, and maybe wait less as well. Just say "meter OK" and if they try to argue, move on to the next guy. Even at weird hours, it's usually pretty easy to find a more-than-willing meter-using driver. The meter usually ranges from about 180-270, plus tolls if you take the tollway (45+25?).
