As Myanmar's current inflation is over 11% (Aya Bank website), every price has increased. About double in last 5-6 years. Some items seem same price, but only due to shifting to local factory or low quality import from Thailand and China. Yes, those factories made different QA standard products for various export destinations. I have seen similar brand packages from Bangkok and Yangon, and the price is same after currency conversion, but taste and quality isn't. Anyway, I digress. Apologies.

Thus, the standard fare for Yangon service providers have double to 80 k - 100 k kyats. This assumes a freelancer. Obviously, you'll pay surcharge to house / papasan / mamasan. It can be 30 k - 50 k MMK. So, expect to pay 130 k (80+50) for low end fashion show girl at Emperor, 150 k (100+50) for high end model fashion walker at Emperor. There are no more independent contractors or FLs at Emperor, JJ / Apple, or Pioneer. Therefore, you'll pay 50 k as flower tip money (or barfine in Thailand / Philippines) to takeout. Since the girl gets some of that flower money, she can deduct that in negotiation or forgo it, I. E. 30 k barfine.

As for the ladies' price of 80 k - 100 k, they usually don't budge from it, because their mamasans control the price point. Some mamasans take half of it, due to providing room & board, transportation, mobile, and security (or rather protection from LE). Some fashion show managers are ok with their share of flower tip, since the ladies have their own house / apartment and ferry / taxi.

Similar set up is at JJ / Apple.

Of course, maybe you are skillful, suave, young, or handsome, and can bargain down. But why, for only a few bucks, since it's still lower than ST in Bangkok / Pattaya.

As for Club 5 at Park Royal and Nice Bar at Sedona, I haven't really investigated, but I believe that there's a house fee for the ladies to work there. And, maybe hidden mamasans, so no true FL is there. I heard that the ladies got penalty or fine if they didn't show up for "work". Ouch.

Outside of Pioneer, Brave, Vibe, and Myanmar Plaza (Fuse, Eclipse, and Harry's), you may get offers from taxi drivers acting as papasans. I have not fielded them out yet. By the way, you won't find "official" working FLs in local bars and nightclubs anymore, but you can encounter bottle bunnies / rats, club's plants, and obvious P4 P.S. Off-work from KTV, Emperor, or JJ / Apple. You can try your luck if you spot them, but it'd be like hitting on normal chicks. Or, bring your own barfine, buy a bottle, share with her friends or new friends, and enjoy. Just like in Thailand and Philippines.

For those arguing / complaining about high taxi prices near bar / club exits, I highly recommend Grab App. You don't need local SIM card to set it up, if you already have an account elsewhere and your own SIM number roams in Myanmar and can receive call / SMS / mobile data. I arrange for pickup while inside a place and as I walk out with a girl, I just tell her and the taxi drivers around that I have already arranged my own car. If you don't speak Burmese, just show them your smartphone with Grab App. They understand that and turn away to easier marks.

And, I do not recommend walking away with a girl from an obvious place of selling girls, such as Emperor, because there is police vehicle (s) down the street waiting to catch the girl for prostitution. So, call GrabTaxi or get in a taxi, even if your hotel is a block away.

Last note: most Yangon providers are expecting one shot for the price above, whether it's an hour or overnight. And, most overnighter end at daybreak (due to using their sponsored taxi / ferry truck), so better to end your party early and go back to your hotel soon, unlike Thailand / Philippines, where you can dance till sunrise. As always, YMMV, and depending on your negotiation skill or charm, you can turn an ST into LT for same price.

I usually offer to pay for taxi or call Grab to their home, so they can release their waiting driver. And, gain few more hours of their time. Other offerings are breakfast, lunch, shopping, city tour, pagoda visit, etc. I am sure you all have your own ideas.

On the other hand, half the time, those providers long in business tend to stick to their schedule and routine, such as one shot and out the door. I guess, they got jaded by tedium, which is understandable.

" And, no, I'm not that "desperate for female company", as I stayed in last night (yes, a happening Friday), catching up on Netflix shows.

By the way, you don't know me, so you can't assume that I can't go out in the daytime with an LT or normal non-working girl on regular dates. I have much respect for local traditions and follow their cultural norms in any country. For example, many Myanmar single ladies still live with their parents and must obey curfew of 8 pm or even 7 pm, so I watch the clock to ensure my normal meets don't get in trouble.

For proof, I have attached a photo of a nice sushi lunch (with an excellent view of Inya Lake) I had 2 days ago at Myanmar Plaza with a cutie. Meta data will confirm location.

I can converse in local tongue, have Rangoon friends, stayed in various districts or townships in greater Yangon, walked through the city for hours, taken the bus, train, and motorbike (which are banned in central Yangon, thus, I got far out there), and prayed at pagoda, so I believe I have gotten a pretty good lay of the land. You're right about the villagers flocking to a metropolitan for an opportunity to earn money (not just to sell their bodies, but also for regular jobs). It's not just in Myanmar, but I've observed this phenomenon in most Southeast Asian countries. Unless the world economy suddenly equalized living standards and wage disparity across the board, urban centers will be supported by a pool of low income laborers from rural areas. But, I digress.

What I want to say is that not every sex provider in Yangon, Bangkok, Saigon, Vientiane, Phnom Penh, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, or Manila is "being dragged into this business". I've learned from extensive testimony that many are locals from the city within. They all have different reasons for choosing (not being forced) to be a sex worker or borderline job, such as masseuses, hostesses, karaoke singers, show dancers, club models, or dating gigs. From as serious as hospitalized family member, as noble as school tuition, to as frivolous as the latest iPhone model. Sigh.

About technology, I've stayed in a roadside hamlet a few weeks ago in upper Myanmar, and there are mobile shops, 4 G / LTE service, satellite TV, and QR-code payment-accepting mini-marts and tea shops. In some way, these places skipped the "time lag" and fast-forwarded into modern or near future era, whereas my home bank just started to issue credit cards with chips or my house broadband is finally going above 20 Mbps. SMH.

Anyway, to the potential visitors, don't worry about G's broad generalizations, check out Yangon (and the mongering scene) as it is still changing and modernizing, before the city stops being a "novelty".

One thing that puzzled me in your post is the references to JJ / Apple. JJ was closed a while ago. There was extensive discussion about it on this thread, and I verified it on the ground myself. So, has it opened again?! If so, is it in the same location as it used to be? This is important for me, because it was the only place I really enjoyed in Yangon. After the demise of JJs, there wasn't much point in going there anymore.

Basically, it moved to a new place in Insein township. That's why I mention it as "JJ / Apple". In case, the older taxi drivers don't know Apple KTV, so then, you would tell them, new JJ.

You can readily search Google for Diamond Lake Hotel (W424+72 Insein, Myanmar (Burma)) or Apple Bar KTV (W424+62 Insein, Myanmar (Burma)). I attached their business card, in case you need to show to taxi driver. Honestly, just call GrabTaxi, since you'll have exact GPS.

Plenty of good looking girls but conservative. Did find a girl at Aungsan market but nothing to write about. Simple act and paid 50000 kyat. Went to clubs like emperor, roof top bar etc but girls are not aggressive. Hard to figure out who is into fun or who is just hanging around. Only couple of girls approached me and they wanted 150000 kyats which works out to $100. Did not want to pay that because from here Philippines for a week where I can get lots of sex cheap. The massage girl at the hotel offered HJ for 50000 but declined. She was cute and she said I can play with her nice boobs but when asked if I can fuck her she declined. She tried to talk to her sister who initially said she will come to my room for 100000 but got lost in translation. These girls use app for translation. Lots of pretty girls at temples but unlike other countries ignore your smile. As for tourists plenty of Chinese tour groups and some Europeans.

Lots of KTV around but without a sidekick did not venture. I heard they are geared towards high spending Chinese businessmen.

SS.[/QUOTE]Booked cultural show and dinner at Sarawak palace. $25 for one person. I have seen better show and better dinner. Highlight is met this older lady and a younger girl. They asked me if I am alone. Answered affirmative they asked me to sit with them. Older lady is from Philippines and says she is doing some business there. Younger girl is her niece. Young girl likes to drink like a fish. Got her number and met up with her next day and had fun. She could spent only couple of hours because her aunt is very strict she said. She came to Yangon to help her aunt. No money given. Although previous evening she looked good, once the clothes came off she was chubby and flabby boobs. Told her we will keep in touch.

Yangon is a nice place to visit to take in the sights. Girls are conservative. Most girls who work in prostitution are trafficked from poor areas. Nobody speaks English. I asked couple of taxi drivers for contacts but they pretended not to understand. They are talking about building big casinos and if they do there maybe more options.

My advice is mongering wise do not go there. Maybe it is good to take a Thai girl and go sightseeing. Plenty of things to see.
