Thanks for the info, both of you. Platino or Paramide certainly sound more preferable, in terms of quality and comfort. I do need to practice my conversation skills big time. I assume it will be very noisy though (loud music) in Platino or Paramide, which won't help.

I am studying / staying at Gran Colombia & Cordero, which I think is a pretty short walk to Platino. Not sure where Paramide is, but understand from previous posts that they are pretty much the same. I suppose I will give it a go and hope I can find a girl willing to take money from a gringo that can't converse too much.

The Oasis sounds interesting and I would like to try one of those places (maybe wait until next week when I'm in Puerto Lopez?). I don't like to be too rushed though and taking a cab out there for 1 quickie doesn't sound real great. What is the neighborhood like there in the daytime (late morning). Is it possible to have a quickie, go have a cup of coffee or lunch somewhere close by and go back for another round before taking a cab back?

Do the Oasis type girls keep themselves clean? (clean clothes, bathed, etc.) I don't mind a girl who's plainer looking, but if she's dirty, fat, and ugly; I'd rather go without.

Also, has anyone tried the escort service listed in the Cuenca phone book? Or any other in town for that matter? Would they even come to a $20 / night hostal / hotel? I could ask the kid who works the front desk at night to call for me maybe. Or perhaps, he'd have a suggestion of his own.

i just finished a 6 day stay in cuenca. i can see why the folks at international living magazine have it ranked one of the top retirement destinations in the world. great weather, good infrastructure, a safe feel, and just a generally nice place to be. even the water from the tap is potable, which i thought was amazing.

but the purpose of this forum is not for promotion but rather for reporting. so i'll give you my impressions of mongering in cuenca.

as i had dutifully read the forum prior to traveling to cuenca, i was prepared that it was going to be pretty much a wasteland for mongering. but thankfully there were postings about some low budget chongos away from the downtown area, and i ventured there during the day for relief.

gentlemen, the place you want to go is called the club oasis, located in the el tanques area in the highlands above the avenue of the americas. i went there 3 times, on tuesday, thursday, and saturday afternoons.

to get there, i would flag a taxi and say to the driver, 'el tanques, oasis chongo, por favor'. after saying those words, each driver would give me a big smile and wave me into the cab. i would then ask, 'cuanto cuesta? ', and found the taxi fare was anywhere between $1. 50 and $2. 50 from calle larga.

the first time i went, i was really nervous from having no idea what to expect what i got there. but you know, i had one hell of a time each time i was there.

here is the routine: after the cab drops you off out front, walk into the covered parking area and head toward the doorman, who is dressed in an orange polo shirt. he has a metal detector wand and checks each patron for suspicious metal objects. i'm guessing not a lot of gringos go there, because he had a surprised look on his face as i walked up.

but what was cool on my second and third trips was that he recognized me, and would shake my hand as i walked up to him. by the third day, oasis was starting to feel like cheers, haha.

he motioned me through the door, and i walked in. the oasis is divided into two levels. the upper level was deserted that day (tuesday) so i headed down the stairs to the lower level. no cover charge was requested on tuesday or thursday afternoons, but entry to the lower level on saturday afternoon required a $1 payment. after paying the entry fee, the bouncer motioned for me to put my index finger onto a red scanner device, which i am guessing records my fingerprint and is used in lieu of a traditional ink stamp for re-entry into the lower level.

each level is actually a large open area, with chairs rep001tered about. each day there were around 20 ladies present. as mentioned in other postings, the quality of the gals isn't real high. lots of 3-4-5 rated ladies, with an isolated 6-7. for those of you who have been to tijuana, the average lady there resembles the average tijuana street gal in the zona roja.

lots of really short and tight mini dresses with clunky 6 inch acrylic heels. i have heard that hispanic men like their women on the larger side, and this place did not disappoint. not a whole lot of thin gals in there. lots of what i like to call 'sexy chubby' women. gals who could stand to lose 40 pounds, but are dressed in such a way that gave them the look that drives joe's libido off the edge.

the really hot looking gals were quite busy. once one would re-enter the room after a session, it didn't take long for someone to flag her down and get busy.

someone mentioned that the set up there resembles a high school dance, and they are absolutely right. lots of guys standing around, holding beers, gawking at the gals and chatting with their friends. the ladies never came up to the guys, but would rather just stand or talk with their girl friends, waiting for a customer to venture their way.

being a gringo, i wasn't sure what interest i would get from the ladies. when i would stare their way, about 50 percent of them would not indicate any interest, while the other 50 percent would flash a smile and a 'come hither' look. i never ordered a beer, but rather just had bottled water. it cost a mere 50 cents to buy a water and stand and decide which lady was going to be the receptical for my load d'jour.

now for the nitty and the gritty: on tuesday i selected a thick gal from columbia, aged 28. dyed blonde hair, with a pretty face. she was the only blonde gal i saw there the whole time. short mini dress and cute sandal heels. forgot her name, but it doesn't matter. regular patrons would probably recognize her because she was there each day i went.

she quoted me $10, which i found acceptable. i had read the going rate was $6, but i wasn't in the mood for haggling. as i walked with her to the room, i went through a doorway which led from the main room into a hallway of bedrooms. as i was walking to the doorway, i made eye contact with a couple of the guys hanging out by the doorway, and they were smiling me at me and one gave me a high five as i went by.

the experience was exactly what i had expected. no gfe, but the bj was really good and she really seemed to enjoy the 'boom boom'. she had a big 'garage' down below, but it still felt good. no kissing, but i had no complaints.

as i walked back into the floor area, one of the guys who cheered me on earlier said to me, 'gringo, blah blah blah', which i inferred as him saying 'gringo, how was it? '. i smiled widely and said 'mucho gusto, amigo', and a bunch of the guys started laughing and one patted me on the back. way cool!

$10 for the deed, $1 propina, $5 round trip cab fare, and 50 cents for a water. grand total = $16. 50.

on thursday the place had many more customers than on tuesday, and many of the ladies had migrated to the upper level. there i found an ecuadorian lady giving me the eye. i forget her name, but she was aged 30 from manta. around 5' 6' tall, reasonably pretty face but needed to take off a couple dozen pounds. quoted me $7.

when in the room, she put her arms around me and gave me a big hug. i took the initiative and started nuzzling and kissing her neck, which she seemed to like. i then moved my mouth to hers and surprisingly she kissed me back. after a few seconds i slipped her the tongue, and suddenly we were slurping away like two kids in a dark corner at a junior high school dance.

after shedding our clothes, we laid on the bed and started kissing some more, then she asked if i wanted to spend one hour with her for 'cuarenta', which is $40. for the life of me, i can't figure out why she thought i would pay $40 for an hour when i was going to get at least 15 to 20 minutes of her time for $7.

similar story to that with the columbian gal. covered bj, spirited boom-boom. she even brought out a plastic pan and washed my little friend when it was all over. i gave her a $1 propina and left.

grand total for everything including taxi = $13. 50.

gentlemen, if you go on a saturday afternoon, be prepared for it to be absolutely packed with guys. at 3 pm both levels were packed with what i estimated to be around 100 guys total, with about 15 chicas present. the hotties pretty much ignored me, so i was only getting visual interest from the much less desirable ones. so i decided to stick with the manta lady for a repeat visit.

once in the room, she informed me the price was now $10, which i attribute to there being so many more guys there that day. had another great time with her. grand total = $16. 50.

3 days. 3 fichas, total price $46. 50. cheap and fun mongering makes cuenca that much more of a desirable retirement locale.

Wow, you really got ripped off by those girls, it's always $6 no matter what, one easy way to know is by asking the guard at the entrance or the bartenders, anyone will tell you so, prices do NOT increase because it's the weekend, that's silly.

Simply put, they saw a walking ATM on you, next time don't ask for the price, just pay the correct amount. It really aggravates me that those women pulled that stunt.

Also, be careful who you talk to inside those places, most of the people there are thieves or hoodlums, not a good idea to make friends there in my opinion, the security guard has a metal detector for a reason, lots of criminals go there, be careful.

I like this place: many (about 50) girls, its a safe place, the police and guards are present and you can drink a beer and in the meantime choosing a girl. There are plenty f taxis who take you there for 3 dlr from the toncenter. I was with Leydi, a 20 year old girl from manabi. The ficha is 10 $.

There is been another murder in the Red light district of Cuenca, this may lead the city to shut down the infamous ¨tanques¨ but if these murders continue the cops may shut down the area. It's a pitty though the Oasis is the finest low class chongos in the whole country.

It has come to my attention that there is a new upscale establishments called Pole Dancer and is on the hill leading up to Los Tanques. There is a guard at a big rollaway driveway entrance the facility is excellent but expensive, relative to the norm for Cuenca. The ' door ' is $15 and that gives you 2 beer or drinks the girls are top notch 8 and 9's service is $70, but not sure of time. The owner goes by Caesar, friendly and safe facility the cops were in and out there appears to be a ' connection' with the owner a good thing, given the number of murders on the hill.

Went to Puyo in the Amazon last year and visited a large chongo called Las Vegas. It's located on a dirt road off the main road to Banos. The cab drivers know it. I was told that Wednesday is the best night since new Amazon women are introduced then. It's a large room pumping reggaeton. I recall it was $8 for 15 minute. I gave a gal $15 and was told I would not be on the clock.

On the far end of town The Volcano Bar is a bar that locals hang at to dance and watch football. There are some loose women there but watch your back for pick pockets.

I just reported on my stay in Quito, I then went on to Cuenca for a week, and had a very different experience.

After not really enjoying the cheaper chongos in Quito, I decided to stay up market in Cuenca and went to Piramide. Unfortunately I pronounced it with the accent on the next-to-last syllable, sort of like you're supposed to do in spanish, and the taxistas didn't know what the hell I meant. Eventually we got it sorted and found Pir-A-mide at 9:30, completely deserted. Just as we were leaving a truck showed up with the guards and the said it would open at 10, only 2 hours late! I went back to the hotel, and returned at about 11. I went in to see lots of nice girls. 7.9 standard, wondering around, and a couple of groups of guys ignoring them. I did what I usually do, and walked about having a good look at all of them, looking for one with a ready smile and a glint in her eye. I struck gold. I'm not going to give her name, sorry, but after she sat on my lap for half an hour I decided to skip the crap and bought her out for the night. We had one of the most sensational nights of sex I've ever had, she just descibed it as intense. I negotiated a discount rate to buy her out for the rest of my stay, got the Sunday for free, and we spent the whole time together doing loads of tourist stuff. I have some health issues which prevented us from quite touching the heights again, but it was still great. I'll be seeing her again at the end of the trip for a few days, and hopefully again after that. A very special girl.

So, on to Guayaquil. I've already posted about the problems there, but I'll do a report in a day or two.
