I know you told me that you were not considering staying at the mansion, but I don't see why you didn't take it into the equation considering you are saying you will be hitting a lot of casas. Most of us started at gringo central (Mansion), which gave us a chance to get our footing and branch out. You have staff their that will translate for you, order taxi's for you, help you to order food, etc. The translation help pays for itself. Imagine trying to direct a chica to your hotel and not being able to give her the directions because you don't speak Spanish well, nor can understand what she is saying to you (especially if she is lost because her taxi driver has no idea where the hell he is going, which happens more often than not). Being able to pass one of the staff members the phone and have them tell your chica or her taxi driver exactly how to find where you are staying is gold.

I can't stress enough how important Spanish is needed for Medellin. You can't order a pizza without it, you can't communicate with your taxi driver other than pointing to the physical address you may have written down, you can't even ask for help if you've been robbed. My first trip there while staying at the mansion I met two other guys who I went on a casa run with. Between the three of us we managed to communicate in slightly passable Spanish.

I'm sure you'll do fine, but it looks like you are going to be doing a lot of work.

EDIT: See Dickhead's post below mine. As you can see, no one is trying to steer you wrong here. Everyone is different, but telling a newbie with kindergarten Spanish to set up shop in El Centro is the last thing I would recommend to a first-timer.

I speak fluent Spanish and El Centro is dangerous day or night.

Paradoxically, those who don't speak Spanish or other foreign languages may not see dangers, or what's goin on entirely, in El Centro.

He speaks enough Spanish and you are correct that Spanish is necessary there as nobody speaks English. I spent 10 days in El Centro on my last trip and had no problems but am fortunate that I can pass for a Colombian and speak enough Spanish to get by. I stayed at the Premier Plaza Hotel right opposite Botero Plaza and adjacent to the Church. Lots of daytime action around this area, bars around the corner, and Avenida De La Grief two blocks away. Very sketchy at night though as others have noted and if you look like a foreigner / gringo it can be dangerous. I know a guy who went there, is an obvious gringo, speaks no Spanish, stayed at the same hotel I did and survived without incident, but I think he was lucky.

DCFan will be in the area and he said its good hunting around in those parts. I started to setup some dates on Latin America cupid but that shit is time consuming and pans out wasting vacation time on a phyco-chica like Surf did. I rented a penthouse apt for 80 a night with great views and chicas loved it. My first two times I stayed in El Poblado,(check pic) very upper middle class and close to Parque Lleras, but also very hilly, my calf received a very goof workout. Then I stayed at Envigo, very middle class and not so hilly.

As far as girls I would use the casas as a backup plan. The girls in MDE are very sweet and will make you fall for them, plus there is chocolate there but very limited. You won't find the skinny waist and big asses I know you will desire, but you will find sweet girls.

Here's what I did; I would spend the nights hanging out and checking out all the establishments and if I saw something I like I would have her for an afternoon delight the next day. I would get them fresh before work and spend the afternoon and evening with them before work. We would fuck, eat pizza, fuck, wrestle, fuck then listen to music and fuck. I would give 120 k-140 k (60-70) for the afternoon for no rush service. That way you a more full experience and some 30 minute hump. You will need someone like DCfan to help you with logistics. As small as MDE is cabbies don't seem to know where anything is. Ghetto ass Mayorista is a must see but I wouldn't advise fucking with those coked up girls but sometimes guys find deals there, just keep your guard up. Parque illeras is a good daytime hangout. Take the subway at El Pablado and get off at San Antonio station and shop the bazars during the day is fun.

They drink different in MDE also. You buy the bottle with shot glasses and they bring you chasers. The girls will come around and give you conversation but will try to hit a shot. What I do is put some gum in the shot glasses to prevent every girl from drinking your liquor. Colombia has a lot of drugs available for cheap so be on the lookout for druggies when doing your interview. Again, when you venture out go with a veteran.

I will take the pencil house for the 35. That's why I didn't take the mansion. It sounds like an over rated but well known spot for Americans. And I have learned from Cuba that the chicas that work around the will known spots are more mechanical. They are use to seeing Americans come and go. And they expect to be paid higher then the average. I think it will be more like Rumba chicas in the mansion. DCFan is offering to me what you offered. Getting a way from the touristy adventures and more into the daily life of the country. I know it can be risky however I don't mind adventuring to less chartered but seeded area. The action in El Centro has your name written all over it, just stay away from the glue sniffers which I know you will do. No problem getting serviced for $ 10 US and there are some diamonds in the rough to be had around the Church / Botero Plaza area. Last time I was there I got a BBJCIM for 15,000 Pesos so being the budget fucker that you are you should be right at home. Also don't rule out the casa's. Some of these girls would be more than happy to meet up with you outside of their working hours if you hit it off with them. Can't wait to see your trip reports!

I have never been to the mansion so I can't talk bad about it. But from what I read on this forum its for mainly guys that are older and like to be feed chicas or there are a little weary about going to downtown medellin. As for Colombian Jake, the chicas he has posted on his website look just ok, but is it worth BBBJ and paying extra for that kinda of point and click service. I will show anybody the ropes if they are cool and grownman seems to be a cool dude that isn't going to get scared over a few crack heads. Don't get it twisted, Downtown medellin at night is very dangerous. You have to know your surroundings at all times. But there are some amazing gems to be found. Since Grownman is arriving late, I might have to take him to this after-hours spot I know (open til 7 am or 8 am), because the strip clubs close at 2 a I think. Someone stated that a lot of the chicas at night are coke heads, this is true but not all. Some like to just drink and smoke weed. My experience is never try to out drink a colombiana, they will drink you under the table, especially if she does coke. I once smoked a blunt with a strip club chica. She fell asleep before we fuck that night. Woke up the next morning did some wakey bakey and then proceeded to fuck my brains out. Almost without a condom.

The day time casa scene is so abundant that you find what you are looking for. Getting GFE is a bit more challenging thou. Think about it, you pick a a girl from a line up and of you go to the room and bang. Where's the romance in that? LOL. In my experience I found that most casa chicas are more semi pro in style than strip club chica. Thats why they work during the day 9-5 type hours, because they have normal lifes. (not crack heads types) that being said my strategy for raising my chances of GFE in casas are as followed. Pick the chicas in the line up that smiles or gives you some kinda hint she digs you. If the chemistry is there then give a decent tip or a gift for the good service. For example (victoria secret undies) I buy them at the outlet malls for cheap. They will love this and maybe exchange info or have better GFE the next time around. Its worked very well for me.

[/QUOTE]I meant in a sense that if you told him what you are looking for, he probably has pool of contacts he could turn you on to. Not like the touts in the DR who just show up randomly outside your hotel with some random chica on the back of their moto yelling "hey my friend, I've got the perfect girl for you" (with their motivation being that they are going to take a cut from what you give the chica).

The profile Dcfan77 gave of the average Mansion visitor is a bit inaccurate though. I was in my late 20's when I first visited the mansion. The guys that visit there frequently do skew a bit older, but they probably are the most knowledgeable about the downtown casa scene and mayorista than most. It was here where shared a taxi with two other guys to visit casas over a span of 3 days. I also met two other guys and we visited San Diego Grille, Luna Lunera, La Isla (which had just opened), and La Manzana, which is about as seedy as it can get when it comes to downtown after hours spots. We were in there straight chillin like locals and didn't run into, any problems (well, all three of us were brown).

The downtown scene turns me off because it is filthy as fuck. I'll never forget walking past human shit on the sidewalk and seeing people sleeping under cardboard in broad daylight, LOL. I was like "this is slumming. Not my idea of a vacation. ".

It's true that you can find some gems in the casas, but what makes me laugh is guys that try to set something up with these chicas outside of the casa. Like the last thing she wants to see after sucking and fucking a line of hombres for $15 a pop is another dick after she gets off work.

The main takeaways I took from the mansion was being introduced to the scene quickly and safely, staying in an area where I don't have to look over my shoulder every second, and gather some contacts from good performers to add to my Facebook contacts. That was the seed that grew into something well worth the initial investment. I am so deep into the fb scene that I haven't set foot in a casa or strip club since my first trip there. Out of the 14+ number of chicas I banged my last trip, only about 4 of them were mansion chicas that I continue to repeat with because they are stellar performers. The rest I've cultivated on my own, and it continues to work with chicas that Facebook says we have no friends or connections in common.

Not saying you won't be able to do any of this on your own downtown. Just saying don't sleep on the path I prescribed.
