Hello all. Planning my first trip to SEA. Trip will be 6-7 weeks. I am flying into MNL (yea, I know, but it's the only direct flight from US). I plan to stay a week in the phils, then fly to Vietnam for a week, then Thailand for a while, then back to the Phils for a week or two before returning home. Might consider flying to Jakarta for a few days if I get bored in Thailand, just becaue it seems to be popular with folks here. A couple of questions for those who have been around the block a few times:

- For the phils, I only need to complete ETDS a few days before and that is it, correct? There should be no problem with coming and going to other SEA nations, so long as I do not stay more than a total of 30 days in the phils combined? Or will the 'in and out' privileges require a ETDS every time, and possibly a visa of some sort?

- For Vietnam, I will have to apply for an e-visa. Are there any other hidden requirements I need to know about?

- For Thailand, I only need to complete the TDAC, and will get visa on entry for up to 60 days. Is this correct?

- For Indonesia, a visa on arrival is granted for short stays, correct? I will have onward tickets and accommodations ready for all of the above. Any feedback is appreciated.

It goes into the system; I printed it out but they didn't look. Same with onward air ticket: only your last check-in looks, in case they have to pay to fly you back. You can extend in the Philippines online (once) for 29 days. It's called 'visa-waiver'. Each return you get 30 days. Miraculously, it can be extended to 3 years as a tourist, within the country, but the authorities are clamping down on that old, 1940, US-imperial law, and pushing long-stayers towards getting proper visas. American-English rules, but don't let that trick you into thinking it is not still a third-world country.

They have threatened to reduce their visa-waivers to 30 days but can't make up their minds when. Even so, will still be possible to extend in-country, for 30 days, at an immigration office. British-English is more prevalent. Be careful crossing: they drive on the left; Indonesia also.

Car = mobil; fridge = kulkas; mobile/cellular phone = ponsel/telepon seluler.

For <30 day stays, all the countries mentioned have very easy visa processes. Just have everything ready a few days in advance in case of online crashed etc. VND has made expensive corrections to mistaken applications a new revenue stream so double check everything on your application. Reversing first / middle / lastnames is a common one.

You won't get bored in Thailand. Of your list, if you need or want to squeeze in Jakarta, I'd drop Vietnam. Having said that Vietnam has a lot more culturally than Jakarta but Jakarta has the girls. You pick your priority. Stay in Jakarta and skip Bali unless you like partying with drunken Aussies and $300 hoes. Another option, not on your list, would be Cambodia. It has both girls and sites to see

I normally recommend that Asia is not a place for planning everything to the nth degree but, in your case, a week or so isn't a long time in each new to you city so do your research and have a pretty good idea of what you want to do and see.

I plan to visit Philippines for 1st time this autumn (have a couple of business meetings in Manilla but managed to take 1 free week afterwards, probably strolling around Luzon & Cebu, hiking, enjoying beaches, the usual stuff). But visiting alone is not the funniest.

Do you think it would be possible to find 1 girlfriend for the week (some kind of GF, to share my activities during the days, and the bed sitting the night)?

I'm 41, Caucasian, good shape.

I have several months (and some free time) before going there to make contacts, but once in the phils I would prefer enjoying my trip rather than losing days 'chasing'. What would be the possibilities, if they exist?

I've read bad comments about seeking which initially appeared as the 'logical'*option, so what else? And is it better to start planning from now?

It's very common for girls to no-show or not to be as described online so you want to road test them before leaving. You don't want them on their best behaviour just to win the prize so I wouldn't even mention the holiday. Just sort through a few (perhaps while your in town for business) and offer the best one to come with you. Obviously have this unspoken end goal in mind when you are first selecting girls to meet up with. You don't want someone with a job or family commitments. Go for someone unemployed, can meet at short notice and who doesn't take too much convincing to spend the night with you. If you have any special demands, then they can be trialled during this time too.

Typical rates for a week are the equivalent of one ST per day. No need to pay her more for the extended time. A longer booking will likely be more cash than she has seen in a long time.

In short, what you are looking for is quite common and very achievable.

That happened years ago in Cebu and I didn't want to take the risk of another no-show. A night wasted.

Same for hitting up potential girls way in advance.

When you hit the ground in the Phils, better to hit the ground running rather than chasing older hits on dating sites.

And yes, if you negotiate with a girl away from the bar scene, you'll get a lot more value for your money.

Do people: keep all contacts because the don't do any harm and may be useful sometime; delete as you go; do a major purge every so often; something else??

Any suggestions on how to do a major purge in android?

The way I had organized the mongering section, was to add in the "company field" an X followed by the city, and place, it looks like this: X AC Lollypop 3's, and it means that she's in Angeles City, got her from Lollypop, and she good at 3 somes. Or X Biliran PL: she's in Biliran, got her from Pina Love, etc.
