You can also use the official taxi always ask them to use the meter. Or book a taxi by phone only 70 reais something like that I forgot the exact price.

If your budget is low you can take the bus to Copacabana (16 reais) it is next to the entrance these buses stop in avenida Atlantica or nossa senhora.

Thanks for the great comments. I appreciate for your wisdom toward my post. I know my English is not good because I never went to school but I have 2 successful businesses due to that I'm doing good in my life. I went to Rio 17 times +35 more countries in last 10 years. I'm not just a newcomers in this department. In my last post when I was asking about taxi trip from Copacabana to the airport I just wanted to get the update on the rate because I was going after one year and Olympics so I thought fare might be changed. I'm not an expert in Rio like others but I have a good intention to help people Who wants to go to Rio without any stress not knowing Portuguese and have a fear of that big city. I did not contribute to this post because my English is not that great. Most of the time I get insulted by people.

I know Boby also that he's working in Rio and it's from New York. After going to Rio so many times I decided to start a easy friendly and economically affordable business for newcomers who needs any kind of help to travel to Rio. I'm not looking to make a lot of money out of this but my goal is to introduce the city to newcomers. With respect I will try my best to do this business for people who are first timers. If my post offended anyone sorry about that. I am a person who focus on positive things than negative that's why I am a successful businessman. As it is never easy to get a new business established and off the ground even after months on end of planning, you seem to have come into a plethora of on the ground contacts, performed potential business partner vetting, spent countless hours of local area research and market analysis in a matter of weeks. Now, I'm not saying that it is impossible to do but as you asked and received info on a basic and didn't quite take into account the data provided to you, I'm inclined to think that you did none of pieces that I mentioned above.

For example, the agency lists its rates as follows:

Airport Transportation.

Door-to-Door transfer from Rio-De-Janeiro airport to different destinations. Arrive relaxed and on-time. Travel in Style Prompt & Reliable Premium Black Cars with uniform drivers.

GIG Arrival are $280 / $90.

GIG Departure are $ 130 / $45.

SDU Arrival are $180 / $60.

SDU Departure are $70 / $$25.

Now either way there is no savings to a potential consumer but to ask double the amount of a quoted rate that you yourself admit to receiving is worthy of a head scratch and look of confusion. I take it that you also found 140 reais to be an expensive ride yet you propose to to take the customer on an even more expensive ride. I don't recall ever paying more than 75 reais and that was with muito transito (lots of traffic) leaving GIG. Although, we come to the country to spend, it is definitely not on accommodations such as the ones listed above, even though it is understood to be a premium service. One can also arrive door-to-door comfortably and on time via the highly recognizable taxis. The other services, let's say that they are cost heavy as well.

While you publicly say "They" when referring to this agency as if you have used these services, behind the scene in PM you state that you have begun a business. Albeit to drum up clients is essential for success, it is also noteworthy to be honest. We know that this is your agency and it would have come across better if you had said, "Guys I'm looking to start an agency focusing on blah blah blah" but without any contributions made to the forum, detailed and worthy feedback may have been slim at best.

As mentioned by Sperto, the butchering of the English language alone shows that there was very little attention to detail that went into the site. The gallery and use of photos taken by others were nicely selected though, I must say.

If you are truly going to stick with the agency, I'd like to suggest that you:

1. Identify and understand your target market.

2. Reevaluate your price structure.

3. Have someone proofread the text within the site and edit as needed.

4. Keep in mind that the local currency value fluctuates from day to day (even during the day) so the numbers shown in reais will not equal what you say they do when converted to dollars.

5. Develop and manage a local, on the ground mode of marketing and contact for your business. The site will only be good visually for those who know it exists.

With such a wide array of services being offered, you surely have a storefront location, yes? Where is it located and what are the hours of operation? I didn't see that listed within the site.

They are providing a service with the uniform English speaking driver after baggage claim area with the name sign for the clients so that clients don't have to worry about different taxi drivers or hustlers. I will inform the driver to confirm the prices. Thanks again.

To me it just seems yet another way of overcharging gringos.

Real talk, if someone wants a free education on Rio, GDPS, Non-pros, Ways of Brazilians, money, apartments read posts from experienced people (whether I agree with them always or not is irrelevant).

Like Sperto, Cartman, Patmar and many others.

Even some of my posts should be helpful both here and in non-pro and Brazil sections.

All it takes is a dm and most will provide info.

I mean how many times can we post :when you arrive in Galeao grab a cab on a meter..back when you arrived at T1 you had to go upstairs and grab a yellow cab when it was dropping off etc.

The 130-140 reais from the shark office inside the airport before you exit always took advantage of tired gringos who didnt want the hassle..but...you can only learn about Rio by putting all our info into action for better or worse learn as you go along.

Seemed like he had a pretty good thing going. Unlike many, he even invested in infrastructure and staff. The big robbery certainly didn't help. I wonder if Help's closure hurt business. There are certainly far less mongers traveling to Brazil. Perhaps the recent years devaluation and the Olympics has helped Rio tourism.

I also remember a guy named Kenn who operated EZ-Riorentals. He was easy to deal with. He doesn't seem to be in business anymore. I did realize over time that all the apartment bookers were booking the same exact apartment inventory and just marking them up. That's how the apartment business worked back then. Ironically, an internet site like Airbnb probably killed an internet business like Kenn's that was good in the beginning years of the internet.

There was also a guy named Don who kind of steered newbies around town. I liked Don, but thought his clientele were a bit clueless and / or just wanted someone to hang with in Rio. I myself kind of initially jumped into Rio with just some internet intel and a Portuguese phrase book. I was relatively young, decent looking and figured if I was lonely I could find a girl to hang out with a few days. Don even brought his sister down to help (no pun intended). She could care less what all the guys were doing. She was a friendly and attractive woman, but how do you compete with the half-naked teenagers on Copacabana beach that will do anything.

Anecdote: I remember this hot American girl staying at my hotel the Rio Roiss which used to be around the corner from Help Disco a block in from Avenida Atlantica. She wanted us to take her into Help. She was intimidated to go herself. I forget why she was in Rio by herself. Anyways, about an hour in the club she is generating no interest from men. As hot as she was, she still had that American female body language that she was in control and that men should come to her. She sat on the stage for awhile moping and then she said she was leaving. I never saw her again. I don't think she was expecting the level of talent available in Help back in that day. Most European and American women I have met in Rio and Sao Paulo were blown away by the beauty and sex appeal of the programa girls.

There were also several Brazilian guys I met over the years who wanted to pick you up at the airport, take you to the Centro termas and VM, hook you up with some semi-pros, maybe take you to a local jeweler they know, etc. Some were stand-up guys. A few were looking to rope you into some business venture. Most just wanted to make some money, have some fun and get laid.

There are a lot of gringos in town, and while sometimes that means more GDPS (increase in short-term supply), in my experience over the past several years it results in poorer treatment / atendimento. Also places close during the holidays, and girls go absent 1-2 days before and after.

On the other hand, if you have "regulars" you enjoy hanging out with, they'll easily spend the day with you during the festivities and you can have a great time. But that requires having a connection and portuguese. If you start your search now, you'll be able to find 1-2. I went on a Patmar-style recon mission to the "dark side" with Fmadig a few weeks ago, got some numbers, and already have 1 whatsapping me every few days after 1 visit. To my great surprise she was 18, which made that visit so much better.
