Not 100% sure, but Bell travel will also drop you off at hotel after you board their minibus in Patts.

Bell will get you to your hotel via a minibus when you arrive at Patts, all part of the service.

Are there any common scams or traps that are prevalent in Phnom Penh? I've been to Bangkok a couple of times and know some of the tricks there.
A common one in Thailand is when you want to go some place such as a temple or Wat and the driver tells you it's closed, but offers to take you better temple presumably so you'll stumble into someone who wants to sell you gems at an amazing discount.
I'm also trying to figure out what's a good price for transportation. I've read that most trips around town can be made for 1000 to 2000 Reil. I've seen a post where a tuk tuk driver can be hired for $10 a day.
What is a good day price for an actual taxi with 4 doors and 4 wheels?
What is a good day price for someone with just a motocycle?
Please excuse my ignorance on these topics if this information has already been posted. I've read back about 3-4 months in the forum but I don't remember seeing this info posted although I might have skimmed over it.

Less scam's compared to Thailand and Vietnam, as they are not that bright! Cambodians are more oppotunic, than deep thinkind scam artist. More chance of a mugging late at night! Don't wear any flashy jewellery and change all your money to small money. One dollars and fives, pay the the tuk tuk in riel. Be more wary of the Russians and Nigerian brothers, they invented scams.
I only use tuk tuks, as I won't get on a moto (to dangerouse) and the new cabs/taxies are hard to find. From 136 street riverside too walk a bout I would pay $1 during the day and $1. 50 at night, don't let them charge more for more people as they will fit 10 Cambodians in the same tuk tuk for half the price. You will never pay Cambdian price's! Be firm on the price, before you get on board and don't be afraid to say fuck off and move onto the next driver!

A Khmer variation - "that hotel's shut, let me take you to a better one (sometimes it's true, but may equally be a shit hole where he gets commission)

A good price IMO is what you can get away with and still enjot the transaction. $10 in Siem Reap is realistic but harder to get in PP. 2000R should get you across central PP if you don't take no for an answer. In SR it's more if he's busy as the place is so tiny anyway (remember Angkor Wat is not 'in' SR though).

Can't imagine you would really want one except in PP to avoid the dust from the trip to the airport or maybe a day trip somewhere equally dusty. Just pay a bit more than a tuk-tuk

It's just that most of your questions are how long is a piece of string. If you've read back that far you will have seen the silly arguments about whether to pay sod-all or less-than-sod-all for a bike to cross the street. The rest is up to you and your charm and ability to haggle.
Moto drivers taking you into Haircut/garage brothels, here when your in the room and your chosen lady insist you put your trouser/pants on the door hook, then your going to get pickpocketed.
There`s lady`s in freelance bars, martini`s comes to mind, were she will get you a young lady for a $10 fee, this is a cheeky scam because you could have found her yourself the same lady anyhow`s. i hope this answere`s member *3060`s questions.

(in the past, it was about $25 and 3 working days, but not sure if Saturdays counts as a working day for the Viet embassy in PP, as in many many asian countries, Saturday is not a day off for them)?

My Cambodian g/f and I just got a 2 week Vietnam visa at the embassy in Phnom Penh last March. I think the cost for both of us was about $65 USD. I filled out the applications for both of us and since they were getting ready to go to lunch they were rushing us to get the forms completed. We were in and out of there in less than 30 minutes with visas in hand. Make sure you bring a passport size photo.

Couldn't help but laugh when I read your post Christopherd - I have seen the "that hotel is shut scam, but not in Cambodia, was in Vietnam. Was given it by a guy sent by the hotel with free pick up service - he took us to another hotel ready to screw the original hotel that had sent him. It was a shitbag, so we insisted on going to the original to see for ourselves, and he relented. No tip for him.
Another one I've experienced in Bangkok is the "Grand palace is closed for lunch", in front of the Palace while it was open. Perpetrated only a few yards from the entrance guards, who said nothing. Didn't fall for it, as I had read of it before.
Oh yeah, then there was the cab driver in Shanghai who gave me an extended tour of the city to drive up to the meter costs... but the difference was only a dollar or two and I enjoyed the view!
Have not experienced anything comparable in Cambodia.

Went to the newly opened cavern bar the other night in 104 street.early days,no food yet but it was really just another skinny gutted low ceilinged PP hole in the wall.Not cavernous enough for me.
By contrast the iris bar on the corner of 136 and 5,first corner from the river before huxleys is a beauty.The opening night was a cracker,heaps of free beer,a big pig on a spit and karaoke outside.there must have been 150 people there,rob huxley would have had smoke coming out of his ears.
It is a corner bar so very spacious with a lovely ceiling details all backlit and a acrylic floor with lights beneath that is a complete cockup.
Comfy seating and some really nice girls,we came back later in the night and sat outside and I was impressed by two girls in particular.
We ordered pizza from the candy bar next door,cheap and tasty.The candy is another comfy place,double width with dollar beers all day.
The same night we tried several hole in the wall places in 136 and they did not impress,you have to wonder how the shitty little places will survive with some real money being spent on the bigger places.
Iris soon to have food too apparently,there is a lot of seating outside and it is much more pleasant than the riverside.
Next big bar to open is the reggae bar just up the road.

I was thinking of visiting Vietnam last year and did my RTFF. I found out that there are several Vietnamese travel agencies that with a fee will have your visa waiting for you at the border/airport. Ask the guys at the Vietnam forum.
Go to Lucky Moto. Ask any motodop, they all know the place, and get a small kick back for taking you there. I used them for all my travel needs while in PP. They can get you a Viet Nam visa in a day or two.
Take the express Saigon bus unless you like standing in the sun for hours waiting to clear immigration.

Rue 5 is turning into a good little steet and the reggea bar will add to it. If they did something with the 2 building opposite huxly's and iris there would be no need to go to riverside at all. Is the cavarn bar owned by 69 bar and 104 bar?

Not sure if prices are different if applying for Viet visa if citizen from differ. countries and perhaps your Cambo GF rates may also be alot cheaper. Mine is from US citizen so not sure if the rate is about $25 as I had remember from before?
