Also, can anyone who has stayed at both the Jaragua and the Sheraton compare the two? I've stayed at the Jaragua and like the pool there and would go back, though the Sheraton pool looks nice too. I'm coming down in a couple of weeks and have to decide.

The Sheraton is dark whereas there is much more light in the Jaragua. Bathrooms in the Jaragua more modern as well. There used to be a sign in the bathroom at the Sheraton saying the water is non-potable. In the Jaragua there is no such sign, leading me to believe they have their own water processing. Maybe.

Thanks![/QUOTE]Jaragua used to have a back entrance and garden court tower / rooms. Much easier to sneak a chica into your room if you stayed in the Garden Court and came in the back entrance.

She was also from some distance out of the city, so she demanded gas money. Bad service too. She was a surprised when I cut the session short and sent her home. Rookie mistake--lesson learned.

From my standpoint, there is clearly no need to stay at a hotel where my date (or dates) are not welcome in Sto Domingo. There are plenty of hotels where my girls are welcome. I usually stay at the Palacio for that reason.

But I thought the hotel was now GF; I believe it has been written here that all one needs to do is hand over the cedula to the front desk and the chica can enter (no charge). Why would I sneak a chica into the back entrance?

I like the Jaragua and would like to give the place a try. Does anyone know the actual guest policy at the Jaragua right now?

By not nailing down the exact figure, I left the door open for this gas surcharge (which could be significant nowadays with gas approaching $10 a gallon in parts of the US), and she hit me up for around 5,000 as I recall once I was already in the room, plus bad service (a CBJ.) Had I kept both eyes open and clarified her expected fee and services offered, I would have declined and avoided the lackluster session. That was the lesson.

Just go to the desk and sign the paper and leave the ID. The Jaragua is the most famous hotel in the country. It is common for people to have family events and work events there. It is not saying anything for someone to know where the hotel parking lot is if they have been to an event and have a car.

Sometimes mongers read too much into things. I met a girl online that had pictures taken in the grass of that parking lot in her profile. Turns out she was a dealer at the casino and not a hooker going to meet tricks. I also once met a chick on a flight in the States that works in the office at the hotel.

It has been a long time but the girl had to check in and be registered. I was with a girl friend at the time so it was cool. Desk guy asked if we were married and gave slant eye. Later security stopped us at elevator to confirm she was a registered guest. This was several years ago so policy may have changed. I never stayed there again after this. Nice hotel but a bit pricey for 3rd worlld and I am all about the hobby.

Jaragua is the nicest hotel I have stayed within the Dominican Republic. Not for the "broke brothers" among us. Top of the line amenities for top of the line prices. I was there over two years ago. Before the VID panic. And all they did for my chica is take a copy of her cedula and sent us on our way. And quite honestly, at those prices if I show up with a chica all I better get is a smile and good service or a front desk clerk is going to be explaining to a manager why there is an unhappy guest in their face.

Not girl-friendly can also be defined as making you pay an additional charge for your guest.

Personal questions from the front desk clerk about the status of the relationship with the girl you are taking back to your room is non of their business. And poor customer service. Security checking the status of a guest is simply doing their job.

Showing a cedula and registering are not the same thing. If you came with a guest back then they had be registered with you. They were not allowing you to bring a tempory guest with a cedula. You were retricted to the girl you checked in with. Security was checking to see if I had brought in a pro. My girl was a morena I am sure had she been light and bright would have been no issue. She was profiled in my opinion.
