The night I met her, she was with other women friends from their salon -- all clearly girls. It never occurred to me that she might be a LB at the club and, in fact, she could be very well be a she. Her hair fell in front of her face a lot when we were dancing but don't think that's a sign of potential gender or LB status and it was real hair, not a wig though her hair was not thick and luxurious but rather thin.

My score was 9 out of 10 too.
My only mistake was with one real woman that I thought was a ladyboy. I must say that I also immediately recognized a very famous ladyboy who won a renown beauty pageant for transvestites and I correctly guessed that another was one too, mostly because of his attire.
But the best giveaway for me is the voice. I have never been fooled in real-life situations. But I am a music lover and an (amateur) musician, so, that helps a lot.
I also always act and select very cautiously my sex partners. Like for this test, I might discard a real woman because I wrongly believe that she is a ladyboy, but it's preferable IMHO when I have some doubts.

So that's one reason for all this talk on this subject.
I think one big variable is just what we mean by ladyboy: It can be used for both transvestites and transsexuals. The former seem to have no issues with admitting their gender. As Mr. E wrote, there is a niche industry for pretty boys with dicks still attached. I've several times discovered I was with one in a bar when the LB could tell I was looking for something more conventional and told me. One time he / she even facilitated my BF'ing a BG. I've found the latter, the transsexuals, not as forthcoming. I've certainly never had one just blurt it out without prompting, and in the one case that I think I did BF one, the one that tried to rip me off, I doubt there would be a lot of honesty if asked. My impression is that the first group often isn't trying to fool anyone; the second group is trying to fool everyone.
