I do observe daily the French guys, who are by far the majority of expats here, cruising the strip between Ambatoloaka and Dar e Salam with pretty young things.

I did have a great success at the Madirokely Beach party this Sunday (Madriokely is right next to Ambatoloaka they share the same sandy bay).

So after my first response I did some research to find out where such an assertion had founded, it did not take long;.

A quick scan through the old reports on these pages from Madagascar.

Reveals a series of references to french men being arrested in Nosybe in 2009 shortly after the then government outlawed prostitution.

Please be assured that that was a one off media-spin for political furtherance now long left behind.

The police take no interest in sex tourism other than to help resolve disputes between mean clients and over ambitious WG's.

Another incident in 2013 involved a french guy being roasted on the beach, again a one off incident and from my conversations with Malagasy locals he got what he deserved.

For preying on and murdering local children.

This is 2015 and the playing field is wide open for Vazaha (white men) to enjoy the Malagasy culture of a matriarchal society.

Which does not condemn or inhibit single girls from enjoying relationships before marriage.

It is necessary to employ a guard when away from the yacht, I have both a marine guard and a 'femme de menage' (housekeeper) the salary here for suchlike is 150,000 to 200,000 ariari per month (euros 43-50) so well manageable.

I take your point on accessibility to the masses but presently I do miss having a conversation which contains more than expressing basic needs so just a handful of like minded English speaking mongrels to share a sundowner with would be great.

I have sailed this yacht entirely around Africa during the last 18 months, its possible via the Suez canal, had some great experiences and some awful ones such as Egypt.

Highlights were the tiny Island of St Helena in the south Atlantic- the 3,500 inhabitants of fruit salad characters are like a cast from Pirates of the Caribbean complete with bandanas, they sure knew how to party. Another exceptional pull over was Cape Agde in France from July to October last year, I would anchor my yacht just off The Pig Pen (swingers beach) and made many good friends with other French yacht swingers.

My home country is Fiji where I shall be heading back to by air in a few weeks and then returning here for a further 6 months next year.
