South China - Guangzhou

Followed in Baccus9's footsteps and did some research on ThunderVII. Its as mentioned its a KTV on in Tianhe upstairs from Hooley's. The entrance is a bit hard to find, with no big lights or much in terms of a reception, but you can just take the entrance on the right hand side of the Golden Season's Hotel. Make sure you go to the 4th floor, since nothing in the lift indicates where exactly the KTV is. Floor 2 and 3 apparently house a massage place.

The place looks decent as KTV's go. Very similar to many places in CP. Rooms, at least on Thursday nights are RMB 88 until 2 AM. Girls are 400/1300/1500. I didn't see any lineup and none of girls passed by while I was looking at the rooms, so I cannot attest to quantity or quality. I was considering a trial but then did a quick calculation in my head 88 + 400 + 400 + drinks + 900 for takeout for myself alone just seemed excessive. Maybe I have been spoiled by BSD in CP.

No way to ask if it went 5/15/20 or not. No mention of tips or drinks minimums. The girls I've seen going in or coming out have been a seriously hot step above what I've seen anywhere else. The Uzbek girl took my phone number and said she would call me. Will see if that happens and what she has in mind. I didn't get the impression she would be calling about the KTV.

Likewise I don't go up the price ladder for the tall, model girls and I'm all ready out of what I like to pay at 3/10/13. 5/15/20 is beyond the pale.

If you've got 2 out of 3 giving BBBJ and 1 in motivational counseling for BJ's I have to salute you. This is a real hit or miss topic and when first in Guangzhou I was beginning to think it wasn't happening at all, but I now know it really depends on the girl. Thanks Fillmore! It seems the info was readily available. Maybe it was my innocent charm or to valiant attempts to speak Putunghua (It seems few white guys speak Chinese in Guangzhou). The manager seemed quite forthcoming when I asked him, first for the room price and then for cost of the Xiaojie. He may have been under the impression that I am researching for a larger party to come later. It was also a day when the Canton Fair just closed, so they could have been desperate for business. Anyway, I was the first time I was asking so I just assumed the info was available.

So, since I decided not to spend crazy money on 1 person KTV, I ended up following one of your recommendations on the board and tried QBar at the Westin. It seems Thursdays is their Latin Dance night, meaning it was full of local dancers instead of hotel guests and WG's. The two ladies singing in the band were both delicious, though. Regardless, I had my Whisky Sour and left the bar, when a well equipped and obviously available lady tugged on my sleeves in the hotel lobby. She look well on the worse side of 40 so, following further advice from the forum, I asked her for any younger available ladies. We agreed on a service fee of 300 if the selection is good and 200 if I walk away. I also agreed to pay the taxi fee if I send the girl away. The price for the girl would have been RMB 1k. Both may have been negotiable.

After 20 minutes (and me getting a bit restless) the promised girl showed up. She was young enough and the body shape was ok, but I was a but turned off by her square face so graciously declined. The Mama was adamant that she has more selection but it was getting late and I got up to leave. I have not tried KAMA or CAVE yet. Went to club right north of the stadium at the entrance of the Guangzhou sports university. Nice place, but seems clean. Maybe I should try CAME and KAMA!

BTW: By no means I was implying that I was unhappy with the QBar tip. Quite the opposite in fact. You are by far the most active poster on the Guangzhou board and I am very grateful for all the advice. I knew Westin would be hit and miss and in the end it paid off. (at least almost, that was due to my own choice)

Would love to take a look at the CAVE dancers next time as well. Very curious. Although I am limited in the effort I can put in by the short time in Guangzhou. Worth a try me thinks.

Went to MingHong Sauna afterwards. Very good value for 298rmb FS.

Place is easy to find, I took the Metro to the Xicun station. Make sure to use the A exit as it spits you out closest to MingHong.

Went to a KTV yesterday night in SW area of Haizhu. Sadly I did not get the name of the establishment, I believe it is down Gongye Middle Avenue. Sitting fee was 300 with takeout for ST 1000. (the 3/10/13 means sitting fee / ST / LT right?)

The girl I picked was very cute, thicker then your average mainlander so as a result was decently well endowed up top. Rate her as an 8 look wise. I have yet to partake in KTV in Guangzhou. In your experience, what are the sitting fees and take out fees for girls in Guangzhou? In addition, do they tend to be prettier than CP girls? Older? Etc?
