My first time to las playas cab drove like lunatic then wanted another 3 bucks or be dropped off 6 blocks from where I was going. My last taxi in mexico. In mexico, its different business model approach than american business. Its "get every penny you can from customer today no matter how angry you make them". The lost business tomorrow doesn't matter to them apparently. Its same everywhere in Tijuana. Just different attitude towards customer.
1) Do you speak Spanish?
2) Do you know where you're going?
I think it's a fair generalization. Sure you can find some good customer service and product quality in Tijuana, but overall service and quality are uniformly better in the US, and likewise customer service and product quality are better in, say, Japan than in the US (and worse in India than in Mexico). These are generalizations of course, so numerous exceptions can be found.
The thing is that investing in "customer service" as a good business practice is a foreign concept in a lot of countries and Mexico is one of them. I travel to Asian countries often because of relatives and it's the same thing to a certain extent. Again, like you said it's not as if good service doesn't exist, but it's not really a focus in the culture compared to the US and Japan which take it very seriously.
Hell, in the US there's a completely new school of thought created in the last decade called "design thinking" to methodically understand what customers want. That's why we got UBER beating up the crappy taxi industry in Tijuana. It's a better service.
1) Do you speak Spanish?
2) Do you know where you're going?
The taxi guy spoke enough English to demand money bbn or drop me off middle no where. He had the address on Google map before we left. He just wanted more money. Scam. No problem. Now I walk by them and take the 10 peso bus to revolucion. Maybe 100 bus trips later that's a lot money the taxis lost from me. Plus they drive like lunatic. Going to hk it's not as bad due to traffic short ride. Going to las playas with a driver acting like he's in a race for his life. No thanks. Mexican hospital is not free to tourists.
I am new to the Tijuana scene, but can I know how to take the girls from HK, Adelitas, tropical etc out to other night clubs on revolution for some dancing and nice time. I tried to talk with servers as the girls didn't know, most quoted 150-200 bar fee, is there a way to avoid this. The girls at least I talked to seem to be interested to go out as most of them are not from Tijuana themselves and haven't experienced going out themselves, most of them seem to be making little money anyways, they said they make 2 $ on the drinks, I tried to reason with them that I would pay the drink amount to them directly instead of buying them drinks to sit with me, but they were afraid that the manager / server would scold them, I just realized how ridiculous it it to tip 1 $ to the server when he brings the drinks. Of my few trips, I had one girl from HK who hanged out with me at a different club, she was with me from 3 am and when she was finishing her shift at 4 she was down to go out with me, we had little options to go to so ended up at La Malquerida after she changed at her house near by. After that I haven't had any luck, the reason I want to pull a girl from here, is I have a weak club game to pickup girls at the night clubs and I don't want to be the guy standing at the edge of the dance floor alone.
You need to find a girl not in HK or Adelitas. Find one who worked day shift so she's off at 11. Basically ask 30 girls. Do your rounds, Chicago is best for this. Explain ahead of time financial expectations. Friday Saturday nights will be only nights to expect it to work. Understand the girl will always bring another female friend who you also need to pay drinks for. But its doable and honestly yeah the dance clubs with a working girl are fun even without sex. Even buying 12 beers for her and a GF won't be much money. Like 25 bucks.

Taking a girl with you
So I made a couple of posts about going there next week. I was torn between getting an escort or 2, or going and visiting the bars. However, now I will be traveling with a female. It is interesting. She is a legit 10. She is not Latina, but I am pretty sure people will confuse her for a worker. She is down to go to strip clubs, etc.
I was kind of torn. She is really open minded, but I don't think I would partake if she is there. Of course there is the ultimate hope that her and I (and even better if we can be joined by someone) end up hooking up, but we haven't yet and I don't think it is likely we will do anything other than enjoy each other's company.
Anyway, as I said she is open minded and willing to go anywhere. So any suggestions as to what to do on Monday night? I think my best bet would be to go to one of the bars and hope she drinks some and loosens up. I know she is bisexual, so maybe she will like someone we can get. This is going to either be a really awesome night or a really disappointing one.

That's how you do it. You hang out with them at the strip club and plan to meet them after their shift. Or you get their number and message them on Whatsapp to meet you for drinks/dancing on a day/time when they aren't working. La Malquerida is a popular after hours joint -- often there is a line to get in at 6 am! But if you want to take them to a more standard club like Las Pulgas or Le Conteiner you'll need to do it on their day off, or find a girl who gets off before 3 am.

Anybody who thinks businesses the world over deliberately abuse their clientele have never run their own business. All owners know that without customers you have no business. Now that being said, it seems that loads of tourist clientele tend to bring out the worst in employees and if you don't have strong management the practices will continue. But that's beside the point and to say all Tijuana businesses are like the gringo-centric ones is a gross generalization itself.
Now far too many Americans travel abroad and expect everything to be the same as it is back home. It's not, and never will be. One must always take into account cultural differences. Mexico is Mexico and the sooner visiting gringos start to adapt to Mexican ways the sooner they begin to have better experiences overall.
I go all over Tijuana. Shops, restaurants large and small, bars, whatever. I have found far more good service than bad. And the bad service tends to be from companies who deal with either gringos or tons of "one-time" clientele. Such as taxis or gas stations, although I've never been mistreated at a gas station, it's just that all the locals say to keep an eye on them because they may not give you as much gas as they charge you for. Some irritations are things like supermarkets, who never bring out enough checkers. It's not deliberate bad service or them not giving a shit, it's a cultural thing. Mexicans aren't as obsessed with time as Americans. What's an extra 5 minutes in line?
The major exception the world over tends to be taxis. Why an industry like that attracts the worst employees is something of a mystery. But if one learns the culture one can avoid a lot of the ripoffs. And yes, Uber has been a Godsend for both travelers and locals alike.

I see a lot of girls all dressed up crossing into Mexico late night, do you know where they are heading to party, I checkout el alebrije (went in) but it was dead at 1 am no one was on the dance floor just typical snobby club feel so came out and spotted deja vu and spent the next two hrs there it was ok, girls were busy smoking weed and offered some but had to decline. Went to las pulgas seemed casual with local crowd not the crossovers (just checked from outside had a big line).

Toys across the border
Has anyone had trouble bringing toys across the border? You know vibrators, soft handcuffs, etc.

The clubs are only busy Friday Saturday nights. If that's your goal then you need to go on Friday or sat night. I doubt even Thursday is very busy. And the clubs are in revolution 2 to 3 blocks past Burger King. The woman in Tijuana are endless on weekends. Probably double the woman to men ratio than San Diego clubs which is high % men. Tijuana is a lot woman. And they are 6 inches shorter on average and don't require you to be 6 foot tall like 5 foot white and Asian woman do. So yeah thank God for Tijuana. Honk Kong is just small part of Tijuana. I never land free sex in San Diego, in Tijuana its 1000 times easier.

Whatever your net worth, it feels bigger in Tijuana than in Del Mar.
In addition, a multi-decade age gap is not frowned upon in Tijuana.
Check out the classic Mexican song "40-20" by Jose Jose, about a 40 yo guy and a 20 yo lady.

More Downtime Options
It would be so nice if there were more to do in Tijuana during your "downtime" Such as a movie theater, shopping mall, gym to workout or even an arcade.
Had planned to spend a large chunk of Sunday afternoon watching NFL football at Azuls sports bar but $4 cans of coke chased me away by halftime of the early games.

Busted.
I have a few images of nude chica's on my phone from past mongering and I was showing my mom some other pictures and for some reason. Up pops an image of one. Arg. I quickly swipe to get rid of it saying something jokingly about my Spanish interpreter. Only to have another image of another chica show up. Arrrrrrrg. My folks are not too judgmental and 80+ years old so it was kind of funny but I think I got busted.
