I have mongered all over Latin America for quite a while now. I have never had a problem with being set up by a chica with the police. My only run in ever was in BAQ, and I'll give you a taste of the report I wrote on that occasion.

(After a few blocks I spotted Siglo XX1. This was a club I had heard about but never went into. I told the driver to let me off here and how much do I owe you? He said "no charge if you buy me a beer". So we go in and I liked the place. A little better grade of girls than Banana and the price was 50K for a half hour. I got hooked up with a flaca who gave great table service. Besos, holding hands dancing, etc. I got her number and then asked the taxi driver if he would now take me to my hotel. A couple of blocks more and He stops at Cosmo Blue (I think). I say no because I do not have much money left and want to be able to pay him. He says one beer and then we go. I show him that I have just about enough to pay his fare. He says no problem and we go in. Lousy place and leave after one beer. 4K for beer.

At the hotel he wants 6oK from me. WTF. I tell him no. We go into the hotel and he will not leave. I go to my room and bring 20K but he wants the whole 60K. I now go loco and he backs off. I throw the money at his feet and go to my room. After 5 min. I get a call that the police want to see me.

I tell them the story and also make a point of writing his cab # down. The cops tell me no problem and get rid of this guy.)

So my point is I have been thinking of a return trip to Sosua, but I'm worried about all these reported scams with chicas hooked up with the police. Seems to me most of the incidents reported that it seems the monger was not really out of line. I think if you go to Sosua it would be best to go to Passions or the other hotels where they have girls on site. I think going that route would be much safer than going after the freelancers in the discos. The problem with that is I like the hunt, and staying in the point, and click places are not my style.

There are other options in Sosua, and these multiply if you venture outside Sosua.

Apparently the attorney general is interested in pursuing organized pimping and recruitment of chicas which might conceivably make places like Passions and CMP a target. Now I am not saying I have any special information, and maybe I am quite mistaken, but it would seem logical. In the present operations law enforcement has said they will arrest customers, but not chicas. It would be just my luck to step into one of these places when they decide to have a bust and it would be very embarrassing to be thrown into a truck nude!

But I don't have any worries of being caught up in a chica / police scam, causing me to resort to only going to Passions, CMP, FOD, Cristals, BB's. When I wrote about "venturing outside Sosua" I didn't mean being that ambitious, just as far as Montellano or Puerto Plata to find chicas in their native habitat without war-paint and glad-rags. day 1.

arrived via miami to pop at 2 pm. it took perhaps 20-30 minutes to obtain tourist card ($10.00) and clear customs. once outside of customs, be prepared to be bombarded with all types of silly offers, you want a beer, cambio, straight bullshit street vendors praying on the moment of you're new into this country, new experiences and hey can i take advantage of this mark. that's how i felt the moment i set foot on this rock and my opinion has not changed yet.

my hotel was voramar, run by a dutchman named henke. good guy and has owned the place for i think twenty years. he left (holland) and never came back. this is a little outside of the gringo glutch but it's quiet and secluded. two motorconcho guys sit under tree just outside of hotel and wait for people to step out (3 minute ride to la passions and the glutch) this hotel appears to cater to germans, austrians and dutchman. outside of myself and the canadian that looks like elvis, we would be the only guys outside of europe at this place so far. he has to make his money as an elvis impersonator, if he's not, needs to change his profession.

typical cab ride to sosua is $25, but mine was only $5 difference from typical ride to center of sosua. my ride was $30 us taxi from puerta plata airport to hotel. can't complain, i was hyped up and on the hunt for some tail.

get to hotel, henke was fair and exchanged some pesso's at 40 per dollar as of today, so much better than airport, which was selling at 34 pesos / dollar.

if you like latina's and chicks with a fat ass, this place is for the booty officianado's. i'm about 6'1 and 245 so not a little man but thus far, i've pulled two spinners with phat little asses out of passions and one aggressive ass chica from cmp.

i walked from hotel to la passions in top siders and no socks, which i don't recommend, trying to find a band-aid in this place is like panning for gold.

made it to passions, order a beer. five to seven chica's get the short straw and draw the day shift. a gringo walks in and all eyes are on you buddy, so enjoy the moment. all of the girls are trying to make eye contact, look for the one you want and smile back or motion over, they will be there shortly. two beers later, i take the plunge and pop my dominican cherry. my first of the day was nicole, from santa domingo. afro caribbean and again on the day shift, i close deal by like 3:30 or 4pm. it was nice, she was gentle but the only negative would be she wanted to do cbj, which can be a deal breaker for many of you. i generally require bbj but i needed the extra time, i got this chica jellin and producing a little wetness. i would have popped much sooner had i not received the cbj service. all around good suction and decent service.

passions is a complete time trap, this place is really unbelievable. there just is not enough time in one vacation to do all the chica's any normal person could handle.

i can see the draw of the entire town now, it appears just about every girl is available. some of the daytime street action, i would shy away from, many are extremely young and questionable age range to get caught up. there is just too many other options to consider.

starts. it's 12:15pm and i have yet to survey and explore some of the beach action.

Had to calm the fuck down, my adrenalin was pumping, bunch of fucking 3rd world assholes. They did ask me where I was staying and my dumb ass told them the truth like an idiot. I could 't think of another bull shit hotel to give them fast enough. Just be mentally prepared this shit can happen. Scum of the earth those fucktards.

Head back to hotel and talked with owner, he said it's common to have police shake you down to see if they can get money out of you. He said, generally if you stand your ground they will leave you alone. If you act nervous or intimidated by their BS tactics they will press you a little harder for $.

I personally think if they directly point the weapon at you, you have to think hard on how to handle the situation. Can't offer any advice on that one, but just trust your street instincts and you should be fine. I think those guys are here to just keep some outsiders out and shake down the Chica's, first time I ever had a fucking police officer in another country shake me down. This shit could kill the tourist industry if that stuff get's out. How short minded are these lowlife assholes?

Room was real cool, you could hear the sigh of relief when she came in. I purposely keep the A / C on to where it's making icicles in the corner. That way she has to come closer if she wants to stay warm. Besides when you work up a sweat, it's nice to have as a temperature regulator.
