After a great visit to Sharks, it gets spoiled by a scamming taxi driver. Buddy and I jump into a cab and ask to go to the Darmstadt Hautbahoff. It has always been a 10 euro ride. This driver says 100 euros. Excuse me? Thinking he misheard and we wanted to go to Frankfurt which should be only 60, we repeated Darmstadt. He repeated 100. Jumped out of his taxi but the rest of the taxi mafia behind him would not take us as they said it was his turn. With no choice we had to go with him. He accepted the 10 euro but was an ass about it, inspecting the note in the light and lecturing about how we could not take a picture of his license plate. Also swore at us when we left the cab.
Neither Sharks or the taxi company gave a damn about this rip off driver as they didn't respond to email and the Sharks receptionist on our next visit just shrugged her shoulders. I get it. Sharks don't have control of the thugs outside their club.

Bummer, that's one of the things I like about the German scene, that it's legal, so you get less of the disreputable hangers-on in scenes where it's not, like the gorilla at the door "demanding" a tip. I suspect it's just not a big enough issue for Sharks. Maybe their key clientele is local and few of them take taxis. I usually take the train, was it too late?

Once it arrives in Darmstadt Hauptbahnoff, jump on the _R_ bus outside the station next to the McDonald's for a six stop, 7 minute ride to the Daimlerveg stop. From there, Sharks is about a hundred meters in front of you.

On the other hand, I got lucky with excellent local Darmstadt Taxi drivers in front of Sharks many times. Here are couple of them in case you want to call ahead: Jamshid: +49 152 136 308 77, Hasan: +49 157 742 469 51. Both were very very accommodating with our complicated requests to stop, wait, come back later etc multiple times (that I won't go in the details here) and didn't ask for any tip even though we tipped good. They both are really like good friends.

Once in Darmstadt, I usually take the train though, didn't know about the bus! That's a good tip. How late does it run?
