I have reason to think my credit card details were lifted when I used the card at the Niagara for room payment. Staff made a big deal of giving me the carbons to destroy but within a week the card was used for the usual scams. The card was shut down and I did not have a loss from the incident but did have the bother of getting a new card. I think careful use of a card at ATM's is somewhat safe but hotel staff anywhere in Ghana are tempted to sell card information. Visa offers prepaid cards for travelers and a handful of low value cards might serve better in a insecure environment.

Unless improvements have been made, the Niagara has some rooms with very poor A/C. It's owned by some Lebanese so no pork products on offer at breakfast or anytime. Great location. As always, a frendly staff. Good rooftop restaurant nearby. Small and empty hotel bar but this is not where you go to meet the ladies.

...please do not read "VISA/MC" for "VISA" in any of these posts where ATM's are concerned.

Not one ATM machine on Oxford Street of the twenty or so available accepts Mastercard-based cards for cash withdrawals. They will only accept VISA-based cards.

Would have helped me to know this before I arrived.

I was in OSU last year. I stayed at the Blue Royal, it was truly a dump for $75.00 a night. The room was so small you couldn't even change you mind. Nevertheless, I really like the ladies there, soo sexy and very beautiful. I had ladies waiting outside my hotel when I would leave but I never paid more than 30 cedi for LT. Many times it was free.

I wanto return again for 5 wks starting mid May. My question is?? How can I find a place near OSU with Safety, AC & a generator?? I really want to pay about $30 to $35 a night. I am going for pleasure and over a long time the rents adds up. I would much rather spend it on pussy LOL.

I am checking with some hotels there for a long term rate but I doubt it would be very much help. Before my last trip there, I was online chatting with ladies in Ghana but once I was there I saw that was really a waist of time because I met as many as I could handle just walking the street meeting them.

If anyone knows of a good cheaper way please let me know.

Alew[/QUOTE]If you don't already know most of the likely hotels in a country, the best way to get the cheapest rate is to spend the first two nights in any reasonable hotel, and then go with a taxi to all of the hotels you can find, and bargain for a good rate. Be prepared to pay in cash up front for the entire stay. Most hotel management staff do like to get guaranteed money. On one occasion, when doing this myself, I even let the manager see the money, then pretended to walk out to my taxi. The rate dropped another 30%.

Also, "long term" is usually a month. Any length of time shorter than that, and you might have some trouble getting really great rates.

You not going to find any hotels for less than $40 a night in OSU. You will have to consider elsewhere. An option though, is to get one of your helpful chicks to barter with the owner of the hotels, i believe this is done, chick gets a commission.

Last may when i was there a chick offered to do this for me, we actually went to the hotel mentioned in my report below, i forget the name, was in a quiet coldasack behind Oxford street. I stayed at Binneys bed and breakfast, i would probably do so again, downside is the noise, and sometimes they ran short of water...the condition of these hotels are not the best as you well know. Hope this helps somewhat. Perhaps i will look for a few video snapshots of the veiw from Binneys, just to give you an idea and for those who would like to see oxford street, Osu.

Sorry, your right, of course we went to dinner, ice cream at Frankies, even went to Labadi beach, also probably a few phone cards but for the most part it was free. Went to champs bar a few times, really a good place, some sexy ladies but I brought mine with me so did not get to sample the goods. I guess my favorite one was a hooker near mumbia's club near the square. She had the biggest tities and nice slim hips and waist.

My biggest problem there is the fucking high cost of rooms. Of course I want air in the summer but a dump is $75.00 night, I am spoiled because in DR I pay $22.00 for an apartment near the conde.

I want to go back in May for 5 weeks if I can find something just near OSU cheaper if not its the Philippines and Makati. LOL

I had two such experiences in Cape Coast where apart from the cost of a scrumptious and incredibly cheap meal, the sex was lovely and free. And because in both cases the girl lived not far away, no request for taxi money was made. I even offered once and it was declined.

Ghana is such a freakin' special mongering place.

Though I have by no means mongered as far or as wide as many on these boards, I have sampled wares from Thailand to the Dominican Republic, from Tel Aviv to Rome.

Ghana is the land of the semi-pro and all its variations. And one of these variations is a free fuck with GFE...because for the girl it is an investment.

The prospect of this, rare though it may be, adds an extra element of spice to the hunt, which I found virtually non-existent in the more firmly demarcated and stratified (pro vs. non-pro) spheres of other mongering destinations.
