I was hoping they would fix the issue by the upcoming F1 race. but considering the fact that the minister is determined its only a matter of time the city gets cleaned up. Now will this closure of bars create an influx in demand in DXB?? Only time will tell.

I never really saw working girls in JJ's, just in Rockin Z.

My guess is that the authorites will target mainly the one-star and two-star hotels/clubs, and will try to contain WG activity to a few 'middle-class' tourist-oriented places that can be monitored relatively easily. But they will not stop WG activity completely. This makes economic and social sense.

I stayed my final two nights at Pars Hotel. No time for a night of hunting, but I did a quick check of the clubs. The best club for action is Club Z on the first floor (next door to the Latin Club). There were mainly non-WGs dancing away, but a few hot Russian blondes sitting around - clearly WGs. Their straw in the beer, sitting by the bar with lots of eye-contact is a dead give-away.

I forgot to mention in my previous report: When I brought Miss M to my room (manic Filipina myspace girl), she spent a lot of time on the phone settling down her upset 'boyfriend' (a local guy) who kept calling. Apparently someone saw Miss M enter the hotel and called him. He became suspicious that she was out playing around (which she was ;)). She lied and told him she was with some Filipina friends in the Filipina club upstairs, and she was staying with one of them the night. What a small town. Be careful!
I forgot about the F1 event... which may (partially) explain the crackdown. Last couple of years they've also had strong crackdowns in the preceding weeks to the F1. The govt wanted to present a 'clean image' of Bahrain so the crackdowns may have made sense then. But unlike this year there were no media reports of indignant MPs or govt officials calling for strong action or threatening to demonstrate in front of hotels. Maybe wishful thinking on my part but hopefully things could get back to some normalcy after the event.

Some of my co-workers mentioned this morning that clubs in 2 Star hotels, that have working girls are closed.
I guess one evident thing is, they know exactly where working girls are.
They don't completely care to stop prostitution 100%. They know the working ladies bring money to the economy one way or another.
But, oh... they like to look like a clean place when some foreigners from non-neighboring countries come to visit. It's like cleaning up your usually dirty house, right before guests come over. I'm sure after all this F1 hoopla is over, things will return to normal.
Diggers is still on the go and most of the Juffair haunts are lively. The demise of JJs, Queens bar (Oh what saddness !!!) and Seashell are significant but localised.
The effect of this measure seems to have been to clean up Adliya rather that to clean up the country as a whole.
This appears to be in line with the recent pedestrianisation and 'Gentrification' of Shwarma Ally and the promotion of Adliya as a desirable residential and tourist area. It is perhaps not co-incidental that this occurs a week before F1.
If this takes the heat of our parliament's calls for the banning of alcohol (Because of percieved connections to low class slease) it might have been a politically adept move.
Let's waitand see.
As big a problem as any is likely to be that the price of ale will become inflated as the trade is concentrated increasingly in the 4 and 5 star hotels with their greater margines and demands for profitability.
There is also a reasonable chance that the internet (Expatriates.com, ISG etc) will become increasingly significant as the knocking shops dwindle. But, beware, I would be astonished if LE have not spotted that one.
I hope that your view of the situation is correct with the place getting back to normal after F1. Mind you, some of the Bahraini owners must be mad as hell with clubs like Club Seven, BJs and the like closed just before F1 when they were going to stage before and after parties. Al Bustan closed, I'm certain Mishal Hotel is only a two star so that will be a non starter. Stupidly, JJs was just a good bar, without WGs. Rock n Z definitely had them, but JJs was mainly Gulf Air and civilians.
The Delmon Hotel is a four star (it has a pool which boosts its rating) so Diggers should be ok for now, amazing since they have one of the biggest crowds of WGs on the island. Aradous will probably suffer and the Sea Shell I would imagine will close. Not sure about F1 bar in the Metropolitan.
I think the government are shooting themselves in the foot with their actions. They claim on one hand 'Business Friendly Bahrain' and on the other clamp down with draconian measures at zero notice. Similar to the booze ban during Ramadan four years ago and the last minute ban on New Years Eve entertainment this year. Are they pushing all the entertainment to the five star hotels that not everyone can afford. It'll go underground.
Yet another nail in the coffin of freedom of choice in the pleasure island at the end of the Saudi pier.

Just got back from Bahrain and found out the bad news about the liquor ban in 1-2 star hotels as well as the ban on disco's. Exhibition road looked like a ghost town. I stayed at Meshal hotel which has also been affected by the ban, so their disco was also closed.
So much for the Bahraini authorities trying to make Bahrain a more 'Family friendly' place when all the WG's in the affected hotels are still there. What hypocrites. I read in today's Bahrain tribune that these 1/2 star hotels have already started laying off workers that worked in the bars, etc. So I'm not sure if this ban will be permanent or just a stunt.
This Bahraini I know told me that it'll last for a few weeks max. Let's see. Without liquor and dancing girls at the 1/2 star hotels, Bahrain is just not the same.
I visited one furnished appt behind Mcdolds and can confirm that things were as before there.
I was interested in my favourite thai lady but I had all thai and there were a total of 7 ladies. My lady did not mention of any problems. She is too good in massage, great body, big tits, small frame and overall a great G/F experience.All the holes are available but I take the front two only. Daty, DFK, any positions willingly taken. I tought her yesterday hot and cold blow but she is new so it was ok. She will pick it up... slowly..

Thank you once again[/QUOTE]It's in Juffair - overlooking the sea. Corporate rate was 33BD (about $85). They have a small paper sign at reception saying guests not allowed. But no problem bringing a girl from one of the clubs direct to your room - no need to pass reception, and no security cameras in the hallways.

Hotels and furnished apartments have different rules and legal requirements. This is the interesting part. The crackdowns seems to be targeting mostly low end hotels and bars, but not furnished apartments. And tbh, I believe that the bulk of the flesh trade is focused in furnished apts. So that may be a hopeful sign that the crackdown is not as pervasive as it may appear. As long as conservative MPs dont make good on their threats to protest in front of these places, I think things may be OK on that front.
