The airport immigration queues are bad at the moment, far too many "dumb tourists" around and generally not very nice at all.

Will be happy when we get back to low season and back to nice short queues at Swampy and much less human traffic on the footpaths / shops / malls / bars etc.

Last time I was in Bangkok, the Bangkok Beat bar was kind of slow / lacking talent. Has it picked back up? Or still more of the same?

I will have a few open minded female friends joining me in BKK next week. I am familiar with the Nana area so in the past, I have taken a female friend to Angelwitch because of their classy & somewhat artistic shows & to Carnival on the 3rd floor of Nana Plaza for the mechanical bull. These two bars were very nice & not pushy with lady drinks.

I also plan on taking them to the Bier Garten on Sukhumvit Soi 7 for the live music & 3 litre beer servings.

Any recommendations in the Soi Cowboy area of similar fun bars? Thank you in advance for your helpful recommendations.

Arrived in Bangkok on a morning flight. Rested for a few hours and headed to Annie's. It is fairly simple to find it. Any newbie and prelocate it on the internet. As advised in the forum and website, took a taxi to a near by hotel. In my case J. W. Marriot. When you come out of the hotel, turn left and walk about 50 to 75 metres and you come to Annie's.

About 25 girls were in the fish bowl. I took No 28. Good energetic service. Managed 3 shots and took the allocated 2 hours. Got a decent upstair room. Price 2500 baht at entrance.

I also want to add that though the girls on the website has names with letters, what I saw in the fish bowl were numbers. I met 28 on my first visit to this place and as I can remember her name was "Nam." May be I missed a trick but I cold not locate ones on the website in the fish bowl. If other seniors who visit this place know anything on this let me know. It was my first time here. So I might have missed something.

I suggested to the immigration officer that it didn't make tourists feel very welcome and perhaps this was their intention? I received a scowl for my efforts.

As to Bumrungrad, no idea that Thais are getting doctor visits for 350, I thought it was around 700 for everyone, unless they have gone through the roof surcharging farang. Why on earth go to Bumrungrad for an HIV test when you can go to the Red X clinic which is highly professional, fast, efficient, without hassle, and very anonymous. I believe it runs something like 3-400 baht. Last time I went there, if you went in with a partner, testing was free for the duo.

If she is negative then she is probably much safer than one who is of unknown status re how she would test. If she is positive you have nothing to do with her & thank the pooning gods you just dodged a bullet. So this is just one of various ways to make yourself safer if you prefer not to have sex with condoms.
