Thanks.[/QUOTE]First time? I doubt it. If you are really not wanting to spend more than $100 (excluding accommodations) then you need to reconsider your vacation. Personally I consider $100 to be low. My first visit I spent $120 per night at a hotel (I wanted to stay at a hotel), and wanted to get to know Medellin first. I read the forums, got some good info, and then upon arrival decided to check it out myself. I try to stick to two chicas a day, one day time and one night time and possibly TLN if I have a good experience and build up some chemistry with the girl. If I look at dining costs, taxi costs, misc. And any unexpected situations where I need to spend. It's going to be more than $100 but I'm sure it can be managed to be close to $100 a day if you're just extremely careful and watch every peso you spend. I just don't think that's a good way to enjoy your vacation. Colombia is pretty cheap overall, so I don't worry much about the costs because I want to have a good time. I think after the first time it's ok to look back and calculate how much you spent per day, and if you felt it was worth it or you could have cut in certain areas and still had as good of a time.

Save up and do what you can to not worry about staying at $100 and under. If you are that concerned, then consider other places or just really nail down a strategy where you know exactly what you're going to spend every single day. But is that really fun? I suppose for some it might be, for me. Not so much.

If I am going somewhere like Maldives where I know I will have to come off $2800 for 4 days at a resort then I will do it. But if I am going to third world spot then I would next to never spend that kind of money. Hey, some guys go to Bogota and insist on staying at Dann Carlton and getting $300 prepagos while I am happy staying in my 45 k peso spot and walking to Santa Fe getting chicks for 20 k pesos a pop.

I say go and have fun now and gain experiences with whatever means you have available. Tomorrow is not promised. You may say well I will wait to save more, then bam the engine goes out on your car so you have to use the money to replace it setting your trip back even more. But if that mf goes out after you get back from Colombia then you will be on the bus with a smile on your face. Same as when I used to go to Brazil a lot then all of a sudden got a big pay cut at work. I used to tell my friends and family that I guess I will have to get comfortable living in a cardboard box because I am damn sure not about to stop going to Rio.

To those of you who mentioned non-pros, you need to consider a few things before wasting your limited time in Colo pursuing them:

1. First and foremost, you can't be staying at the Mansion. No non-pro would ever step foot inside there. If she does, she's not a non-pro.

2. How's your Spanish? I'm not asking if you know "hola", "cuanto", and "chupa sin condom". I mean can you have an actual conversation in Spanish with a girl. If you can't, stick to the Mansion and MP girls.

3. Can you dance? The way to a Latina's heart is through dancing. Not necessary, but helps exponentially.

4. Can you get non-pros in the states (or wherever you are from)? If not, what makes you think it will be any different in Colo? It seems that some guys think that the fact that they are American will get gorgeous non-pro wet for them.

Nighttime. Fri - Fase Do, Sat- will research, Sun. Will research (open to visits to Mayorista and Mansion).

I enjoy on the estadio side of the river Tues and Thursday nights starting at 8 pm. They close a main avenue for bikers, walkers, rollerblade, etc. For several hours. I have a bike stored with a friend and we go out both nights of the week. Other parts of the city may have some routes as well. My route starts near Colombia Ave (50) and ends at Ayura metro station the street that is closed is ave Del Rio. Nice way to get some exercise and mix with the locals.

I'm in the middle of planing my first trip to Medellin.

I have a few questions I was hoping the community could help me with:

- I was thinking of going during the end of August / beginning of September. Is that a bad time of year regarding holidays, festivals, expos, or other events that might cause a price inflation?

- is a 7-10 day trip for my first trip going to be overwhelming?

- which is better? Spreading my time at various spots or staying at one place (like the mansion).

- besides the mongering stuff is there other stuff that is cultural or touristy that must I check out while I'm there?

Great advice. Thanks, and I like your honesty. I'm visiting MDE for the pro's so I'll stick to them. Why complicate life and waste time when there can be a simple understanding between me and the girls, what's expected (both ways). I'll leave my skills for picking up chicks back home in the UK, and on my trips to Asia.

And thanks for the advice about protecting my drink / myself. I don't fancy waking up in the gutter without my iPhone, money and maybe kidneys.
