i don't like to take girls too young, nor girls obviously on substances. generally girls 25 and up perform better for me although there are some younger girls 20-21 who already seem very experienced.

I know a couple of girls who started working at bars when they were 15. I know the legal age for them to go to a disco is 20. I'm not sure of the age to work at a bar, gogo, or disco.

Nana is my favourite in Bangkok. For some reason, much prefer it to Soi Cowboy, like the layout of the joint, and most places have great quality when it comes to girls. Angelwitch is my favourite venue by far. Cheers for the updates and reviews.

Nataree is a place to avoid for the reasons mentioned.

I think that is one of the reasons certainly. Though it is clearly difficult to measure in any methodical provable way, but most guys, including myself that I talk to who have been coming to Thailand for over ten years feel there has been a real very obvious decline in the quaility of working women in Thailand. In fact, I'd posit that the working women are some of the least attractive women in Thailand with their hard faces, tattoos and increasingly man-made breasts and noses. Go to Terminal 21 or Siam and you will see more good looking girls in an hour than you will see in days of trolling through the go-go bars. I am honestly shocked at times at the low quaility on stage in go-gos these days.

I think the improvement in the economy is the main reason and that can be seen primarily in the lack of geographical diversification of the girls available. When I first hit Bangkok in the early 90's, it was as likely for a girl to tell me she was from Chiang Mai or Bangkok as to tell me Issan. Now I am taken aback if a girl is not from Issan. When Issan starts getting wealthier as it is doing, we will really be getting the riff-raff.

Another factor is that the birth rate in Thailand like nearly everywhere else is dramatically declining thus providing a smaller pool of women.

Also, Globalization has effected the supply of Thai girls on two fronts. Back in the 90's nearly all the sex toruists were from Western countries or Japan. Now a huge pct are from the BRIC countries and from eastern Europe. With so many more lonely sexually frustrated guys coming to Thailand it only makes sense that more and more girls, esp. the good looking ones, are being either sponsored or are marrying thus taking them out of the market. Another aspect of Globalization is that many of these girls have figured out that they can make a lot more money outside of Thailand than here. Nearly every girl I know who has been around for a few years has had a stint in Singapore, Hong Kong or in Europe. Was talking with a girl 2 days ago who works primarily out of Switzerland. She charges guys the equivalent of 3, 200 baht for 20 minutes. Doing guys here for 1500 or 2000 baht for as long as they take just seems silly to her.

A lot of girls are now Escort girls charging 5000 baht for short time. There are hundreds of them doing this. So ya, they are still in the market but aimed at a business clientele who don't know better.

I think some of these factors have effected the freelance girls more than the go-go girls but both are in decline. Finding an attractive freelancer these days is a Herculean task and please don't tell me about the great looking girls at Nana Parking Lot, Gullivers or at the Beergarden. They reek of decay. And when I go looking in go-gos I am amazed at how average to ugly most of the girls are with most go-gos having at most a few decent looking ones. And as we have read here recently, most of those are of an age that it is best to avoid.

However poor girls with poor education don't only come from Issaan. I have met northern girls in Baccara for example and have a favourite pale skinned Soapy girl from Chiang Rai. Very rare to meet Southern girls in bars, MPs etc. These days. 20 years ago there were a lot more southern girls. I knew a few of them at Thermae Soapy back then.

The overall standard of bar girls does seem to be dropping, however as I get older, I also get harder to please. For newbies, just about anything young will do. Walking outside in an ordinary street, I would say that only 1 in 10 girls are good looking or pretty and not even 1 in a hundred are stunning. Places like Terminal 21, Emporium, the averages of course are very distorted. However pretty girls working there still don't make a lot of money. I've never seen anyone work so little and make so much. She works 2-3 night a week from 6 to 12. Every 2 or 3 weeks she takes a couple of weeks off. Her days are spent shopping and eating out with her girlfriends. Once in a while she is flown out by a client and makes a bundle for a weekend in a 5 star hotel in Singapore or wherever. If you can get into one of the higher end Japanese oriented bars you'll still see this; they are full of beauties. The real deal is that the Thai's are keeping the best for themselves now days, and there are a lot more venues now so the available talent is spread more thinly on the ground.

The upcountry and Thai only places are packed with gorgeous, sweet lovelies. They move the girls into the farang venues if or when they aren't profitable in their own places. If you go with a Thai friend to a place in Sukhothai or Khorat the girls are almost all drop dead gorgeous.

As Thai wealth has grown, they have opened up all these G Clubs and so on where I hear the girls are Grade A.

No doubt one's memory can play tricks as it fades over 20 years and likely one recalls the better looking girls. But I certainly don't remember going into go-gos back then as I do now and being recoiled by some of the overweight girls I see on stage. Even the supposed best go-gos like the Rainbow bars have a fair share of real plug uglies. I don't get the owner's thinking on this, is it just a game of numbers? I'd rather go into a bar with all quality girls even if fewer in numbers. Seeing some of these girls just make me turn around and leave. And I've noticed that many of the go-gos seem to have segmented the girls by looks so that they have the A team, B team and perhaps C Team.
