"The End" by Fernanda Torres
I haven't been following this thread so I don't know if this has been mentioned. It's been at least fifteen years since I have been to Rio. I found it less interesting after Help closed and I prefer to spend my time in Sao Paulo if I am going to Brazil. I also fairly regular in a Buenos Aires where I mostly stick to one girl. Even she has left the scene and returned to Paraguay.
Anyway "The End" is a good read about five "machos" and how living the life influenced their lives and relationships. Written by a woman I thought there would be more men bashing but the women in their lives were complicit too and the novel read true. The sense of place and time is a strength of novel. I immediately recognized the places and remembered walking the same streets from Rua Canning to Cinelandia. The title of the novel is "Fin" in Portuguese. It has been recently translated to English. If you are a fan of fiction and / or Rio, it is an above average read. https://www.publishersweekly.com/978-1-63206-121-8.
Two Days to Find Non-Pros
MichaelSchoefs,
Bravo's advice is true. Don't mess around in your limited time in Rio. No matter how good-looking, charming and fluent you are, Brazilian women don't just throw themselves into bed with foreigners.
I would suggest you intend on doing your regular pro sessions, but soon as you hit the ground you start flirting with every attractive girl you meet. A waitress or a store clerk might bite. In between pro sessions, you can try to meet one of these girls who might bite for drinks / meal, but you will still have to work for it. Maybe you can get lucky, but don't bet on it. Some guys start working social media before they go to Rio, but many still wind up with pros anyway.
I think you are thinking about Shenanigans Pub in Ipanema. I don't think it's a meat market where you are likely to go home with someone on the spot. I think it was always a place for English-speaking local girls who were curious about foreign men to try their luck at finding love. There is still a major stigma being seen with foreign men in Rio's Zona Sul area. Fifteen years ago, you could've picked up an attractive store clerk with some game, but the attitudes changed with each passing year.
Experience with RioEscortGuide anyone?
I'm headed to Rio next week for the first time. Been RTFF here which has been very helpful.
I've also been looking at RioEscortGuide which is a website. You have to add the dot of course, and then the com.
It looks fantastic. Great looking girls, reasonably prices etc. But is it too good to be true?
I haven't found it reviewed or mentioned anywhere. If anyone has any experience with it to share, I'd be grateful.
And if nobody has heard of it then check it out. I don't see why it wouldn't be legit.
