SIM card
You can buy a SIM card in Rionegro just like any other airport in the world. The kiosks stay open as long as flights are arriving. Installing it in your phone on the way down into the city is a nice way to make the trip go faster.
Thanks for the extended advice and help. It is greatly appreciated and very informative.
You are so right about the price. I thought it was crazy. I could be up to my neck in pussy for that money. I will try out one of the hostels and see what tours I can arrange. This was just the first website I came across whilst browsing FB.
Good to know about the Mansion selling SIM cards. Saves me heading out to the mall the first day. Unfortunately I arrive on a Sunday night and leave early the following Sunday morning, so I will miss the change to cycle / run the closed off area. I heard this is a good time too from other sources, just to look at the girls.
All you guys have been great, and I promise to post some reports on here about my escapades.
Cheers.

Are banditios a gang?
To those of you in Medellin, on the ground, not just Poblado but for those of you that get around the city, question. For the past 5 or 6 months my Colombian friends that I keep in contact with (Bello area and Rio de Negra) they tell me how horrible the traffic and the banditios have become.
I am told that what use to take 1 hour taxi ride is now 2. 5 hours because of that major road / park improvement construction. And with the presidents lack of leadership the banditos are again in full force like they use to in years back.
Say it ain't so!
Now these are middle aged intelligent Colombian people who live in Medellin, who commute for work and play around the city proper. They go as far as telling me that if I visit (unless you want to stay the whole time in Poblado) I will not enjoy my stay and furthermore plan on a few years before it has a chance to get any better.
Say it ain't so!

Highwaymen
Are banditios a gang I'm going to Medellin in 3 weeks is there something to watch for.
Banditos are a chapter of the MC Sons of Anarchy. I would not worry about them unless you are wearing colors of another MC.
BTW MC stands for motorcycle club.

BTW MC stands for motorcycle club.
Banditos is a spanish word for outlaw. The famous motorcycle club's name is Bandidos MC. Nothing to do with Sons of Anarchy, which to my knowledge is pure fiction. I'm sure if the locals talk about banditos or bandidos, they refer to a group of thugs, who rob buses or private cars on the road or local gangs.

Hey,
If you don't mind sharing the contact info for your 20 year old piece of gold, then I'd love to have it, as I'm returning to MDE for a few days in September. Sounds right up my alley. I like 'them exactly as you describe! I was looking to PM you, but don't see that you have that. Does she have a FB page?
And I promise not to marry her. Just to keep her warm for you on your next visit! Gracias! CL.
I don't agree about El Poblado being the best choice in terms of safety from muggings. It is known as a tourist area and that attracts thieves. I feel safer in Laureles, for example. It is also a very nice area but not as popular with tourists.
Yes, except the issue with Laurles is it is all flat lands so if someone comes by it's easier for them to get away because there are no hills to run up. Even in motorcycles it's harder to grab & dash when dealing with hills rather then the flats of Laurles area. That said, I think anywhere you have to use caution. I have lived all over and I can say if you are in a hilly area in Poblado you have very very slim chance of getting mugged.

Dress Code Guide?
Hey all,
In all the pictures I've seen so far everyone is wearing jeans or pants. I'm from the northern half of the states and with the temperatures they have in MDE I would prefer to wear shorts.
Will I stick out like a sore thumb if I'm in shorts?
Button up collared shirts only and dark dress shoes when going out at night?
So what I guess I'm trying to ask is what is the proper dress code for Medellin?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
LR
Love this place, very excepting great people and women all dressed to the nines so your working girls are camouflaged. Just to remind I'm in Poblado area. Turns out I stay right across road from Jake. Took a GF for the night, she's only 20 I'm 38 but in good shape, my favorite is DT and she had talent, didn't push her too far (gagging) but she's future prospect. I told him what I like he hooked it up. The experience helped learn how this place works. We hit off great she came over around 8 pm we went up to my condo 9th floor (top) amazing views, hung out smoked drank and BJ no condom. We really hit it off right away then hit the farmacia for condoms and Durax vsd (Viagra) I had a feeling it was going to be one of those nights, she brought me to this awesome restaurant in Parque Lleras, I don't speak Spanish well at all so told her what I wanted she slyly said OK but ordered me something different and it was amazing, so we walked around a little sat night place was jamming awesome vibe, got some liquor went back and smashed all morning she left 6 am. And calling me 3 pm asking if I had lunch guess I'm a legend to another. Definitely going to take a tour knowledge is invaluable.
Going out tonight together with my girlfriend and another chica he's going to enjoy! I keep seeing guys coming to town and hanging at the bars with their buddy! I ask them wouldn't it be more fun with a girl in your arms? They tell me yes I can do this in the USA! I wish I knew how to orchestrate a girlfriend experience, but I just don't know how. I'm here for you, and as you can read for yourself it beats the heck out of doing the same old nothing!
Jake.
Photo of Mellisa! She wants you to take her out so she can show you around and of course back home for love!

Nightclub Scene in MDE
Any nightclubs / discos / bars in Medellin where there is a high chance of hooking up with prepagos or where most prepagos hang out.
Someone told me about Charlee hotel but I am not sure.
This is common in many other countries including Panama.
