Wearing shorts Outside of Poblado is like having a target on your back!
5-6 years ago, I would have said don't wear shorts, period. But in recent years, I have seen more and more Paisa men wearing shorts (at least during the daytime). Nighttime definitely jeans / slacks.
It rarely gets real hot in MDE so you won't be uncomfortable wearing jeans. Highs don't vary much from about 80 degrees F.
If you wear shorts outside of Poblado your identifying yourself as a tourist / foreigner and even more so if your an obvious gringo.
El Centro is full of pick pockets and being an obvious gringo and wearing shorts is like adding gasoline to fire!
Medellin fashion weeks forum?
Funny to read these endless threads. People must be quite lucky not having any other issue.
BeersTerry, MedellinGringo (questions on Jake's)
BeersTerry: Yes it should be legal, no minors at Jake's place. Legal age for this sort of stuff is 18 in Colombia.
MedellinGringo: I only did TLN one time (including evening date), and was quoted 300 mil. Not sure if it varies by the woman. I really liked that one and tipped another 100 mil, for a total of 400 mil.
La 70 is the coolest area of MDE

Of course, as Manizales pointed out, you're likely to be identified as a tourist / Gringo regardless of what of you wear.
