I own several Thai only karaoke places in different areas of Thailand. The average check for a table of two men is around $60 US. That will include dinner, a bottle of booze, and tips for the singers. As a whole the men do not take the ladies home, they only come to party with the girls and then everyone goes home alone. On an average night I will have 20 ladies, and perhaps 2 will go home with a customer. So, the money is out there, but not everyone has it.

-thai girls love teddy-bears, then again all girls do. 300-400b can get you a lot in return, so it is a good return on your investment. remember a lot of customers tip, but not many give gifts. besides she can look at the bear and long for the day you will return to thailand. (yeah, right.) freebies will be had if you do this.

-the staff, mamason, and girls working in the bars will lie bluntly to you about everything and anything. for example, i was in a nana bar when i notice a really good looking girl sitting with another customer. so the moment the customer leaves i motioned for her to come sit with me. granted i was drunk, but i came to realized that "she" was a "he". a very good looking "he", but nevertheless, a "he". i asked the servers and the mamason about this and i was repeatably assured "there are no lady boys working here". well, i did not pay the bar fine and went to another bar, only to fine out from other girls i know who used to work in that bar that there are lady boys. so be warned, trust no one, not even yourself.

-there's a 10, 000b lifetime bar-fine. if you plan to spend a little time in thailand and have decided to spend it with your sexy new friend. you should do the calculations.

if you plan on spending more than 16 days with her, you should ask the mamason about the 10k life-time bar fine for her. this means that for as long as the girl stays with you, you're covered. even on the next time you come to thailand.

i would only do this if you are sure that the girl is someone you want to spend a lot of time with. i have done this on one occasion and the investment is worth it.

for the girl, it is a honor to have a customer paid this amount. so she will be very pleased with you.

this works in most go-go bars. just ask the mamason.

-the mamason / staff / girls will try to squeeze you for tips. say no. there's no shame in it because it is there job to squeeze you and it is your choice to say no.

-a lot of girls like simple food, so do take them to fancy places where they will feel out of place and can not eat the food. i can not recall how many times a girl i am with will tell me about a unpleasant experience eating sushi, mcdonalds, arabic food. (i like all time of food) just take them to a nice thai restaurant and feed them, if you want, otherwise send them home, so they can get their papaya salad. (this alone will save you a lot of money)

-most (almost all) girls are looking for sponsors, who will spend them money each money, so they can brag to their girls-friends about it. so be warned.

-dancers are paid 7-10, 000b per month, waitress are paid 5000b-6000b per month. 50b paid to the lady for a lady drink. mamason are paid 15, 000b per month.

-you can bar-fined the waitresses. many will go with you, the only reason why they don't dance is because they're either too shy to or don't know how.

-the many girls are **** in the go-go bars, so if this is a concern check their ids. this year is 2552 for the buddhist calendar, so do the math. (if the police shows up and your girl runs and hide in the back, then she's ****) you don't need to worry, the police are their to collect their bribe money. they will not even look at you.

-most are either in a relationship or looking to get into one with a thai guy. many girls will lie about their "brother", who is actually their thai bf. if your thai girl has a brother / male cousin living with her or just hangs around, then you will know. thai girls do not live with brother / male cousin alone! (i've been fooled by this.)

-you can not rescue them. simply because they do not want you to rescue them. some of these go-go bars girls enjoy a carefree lifestyle and i have seen many sponsor expect them to stay home and not go out at night. unless you are living here, this will not happen, so please get that out of your head. the relationship will end with you being called a controlling freak (no offense, i've been called that once or twice)

-now and then a thai girl, who is working in a go-go will fall in love with you for one reason or another. these reasons can be genuine so you can open your heart if you want. the choice is up to you.

i hope my article will save you from reading some mis-information and give you a better understanding of the underbelly of bangkok go-go bars. i don't have much insider experience for pattaya, but my guess is that most of what i've written here can be apply there too.

That's volume of visits. It says nothing about money, which is what this discussion is about.

Farang areas generate much more money because prices are much higher, and much more is spent on drinks and barfines.
All the guys coming into this forum and bragging about the Climax girl they gave 3000 baht to for a night is a clear indication of that. Even forgetting about all the money that was spent on drinks before that, it takes about 5 or 6 Thai men visiting a brothel to match it.

Tourist entertainment areas, (not only for farang, BTW) , just have brighter lights.

The Thai only venues in Bangkok (usually soapies) are often in large buildings that look like hotels. One of these business might be larger than all the bars in Cowboy (in square meters). And, there a number of these very large places. Ever take the motorway out to BKK at night? You can see them from the road.

Cowboy, Nana, Patpong are very small. Pattaya is spread out, but mongers are a small percentage of the visitors these days. Mongers that prefer to go there are either keen golfers, or members of the "Cheap Charles" species. That leaves Samui, Patong, Chiang Mai, and a few other isolated locales that have services for tourists.

Would put the majority of Farangs and other Asians to shame. Spending money in droves gives "face," and the wealthy will spend spend spend. They will also support girls with apartments and cars. Take a look at the parking lots of most G-Clubs. The Benzes and BMWs belong to the customers and the Toyotas to the girls that work there.

Perhaps to any of the G-Clubs around town? About all Thais and all Thais spending way more money than most Farangs. This is not the same city I moved to 12 years ago. Salaries for Thais are through the roof and they are spending it.

Farang are a drop in the bucket when it comes to nightlife in Bangkok. Losing that biz would not really effect most of the nightlife venues in this town.

Thai clubs and discos are far more expensive drink wise than what you see in Farang areas. Yes, there are some cheap places to have a beer, but 180 baht is the norm on Ekkamai or Thonglor. Not to mention that most buy bottles and they also buy food. When it comes to P4P the average Thai man will spend far more on the girl before he closes the deal. The good looking girls are not looking for a 3k ST, they are looking for a "sponsor."

Although, what you state is true, I wouldn't hold it as a benchmark for normal thai spending on prostitution. In fact I know places in BKK where middle class thais pay 800ST.

Lets look at the average massage parlour (nation wide) prices that services the average thai guy. A run of the mill fuck will cost a Thai somewhere between 1200-2000 for a ST 2 hour fuck. Now compare that with the average amount a foreinger spends in a touristy area (excluding drinks) : barfine 600 + 1500/2000 ST =2100/2600. Or maybe a beer bar; barfine 300 + 1000 =1300. Who spends more?

seeing that i used this site extensively in planning my current trip, i thought it only fair that i post a quick trip report.

But, for the sake of this discussion (the TH "entertainment" business versus foreigner), remember that there are XX million Thai men who do this year round (quite few just in Bangkok).

Compared to what? Maybe XXX thousand mongering foreigners, (farang, asian, black, middle eastern, indian), who come here for a week, or two, mainly in high season. Many of them are older and only "play" every other day, or so, if at all!

And, we all know that the foreign guys that live here are careful with their cheese! ;)
