Do avoid nova platinum hotel. Overrated! Staff really unpolite. Only positive thing is the nice pool.
...In a perfect world I would like a modern style (white decor rather than brown), clean, bathroom with walk-in shower, wifi, er, that's about it. Not too bothered about location.
Reminded me of http://www.amari.com/novasuites/studios.aspx. Expensive if you don't need the bells and whistles.
I've been to Pattaya several times but never really found a hotel that I like... Baron Beach Hotel was perhaps my least unfavourite...
In BKK it seem s relatively easily to find smart clean spacious apartment-style rooms (eg Citadines, etc) at a reasonable price. I expect to pay less in Pattaya of course, but does anyone have any suggestions for my next trip? Depending on the dates of your next sojourn, you might get a very good promotional price (otherwise, it's usually more expensive than the Baron Beach Hotel) at the Fraser Resort, for instance: http://pattaya.frasershospitality.com/accommodation.php
If you are looking for something cheaper, but still spacious and modern, maybe would you like to stay at the Baywalk Residence, for instance: http://www.baywalkresidencepattaya.com/

You can get cheaper rates from otelrooms.com than direct from the hotel websites.
I'm trying to narrow down some places for my newbie trip tp Pattaya. Have any of you guys stayed at this hotel and your thoughts on the location? Is it near Walking St.?
Thank you

I've never stayed there but I can recommend the Flipper House nearby. It's not too far from Walking street, a nice walk or a quick ride on the baht bus for 10 baht. Good location with a lot of beers bars in the area.
Planning a first time trip soon. I have found a lot of cheap places listed on or near Walking Street with rooms listed in the 500-1000 baht range. These are not fancy hotels but guest house areas above restaurants and appear serviceable enough. Any reason NOT to stay in these places on Walking Street?

Thank you! I went on their website, do they have room safes and internet?
Thanks again
well ed, just NOISE. they are usually a bit loud (like the pope is a bit catholic)
if you can stay out until after 2 it quiets down quite a bit

Secrets is very good value for money. They even provide imported US size condoms in the rooms. The only problem: You need to book on time as it is almost always fully booked.
Flipper house has a safe but it is behind the check in desk. Just tell the desk girl that you want the safe ad she will take care of it for you..They are not open all the time. I believe at some time in the evening they close that down till the morning, but I could be wrong.. Don't know about Wi Fi. I stayed at the one on Soi 8 i believe, as there a 2 flipper house hotels. The other one is a soi over to the south. Hope this helps.

Thanks Mackin and Gwailo,
I got a e-mail from them today, safes are at the front desk and internet in room is 100 baht for 70mins. Scratch this one off.
Hello,
I'm having trouble figuring out if the Dynasty Inn downtown has non-smoking rooms. Does anyone know the situation with availability of non-smoking rooms? I sent an email, but haven't heard back.
Thanks.
