English Is Fine.

Four languages are spoken on Curaçao: Dutch, English, Spanish, & Papiamento,
a Creole language derived from a blending of Portuguese, African & Arawak dialects.

You will not have any problems just speaking English.
At Campo most of the chicas speak Spanish,
but understand enough English to get their message across.

Your Hotel is not hard to find, it is off of the main highway a little east of Willemstad.
Just study the location on the map before hand.
It is about a 20 minute drive.

Having your rental car while then allow you to drive back to Campo,
it is open 24/7, which is back up by the airport.

Let me restate that I like your perspectives and I really like your informative posts (also very assertive). I was trying to point out that for me it is not that black and white and some shades of grey do exist. For example, in my career I work with a lot of sales and marketing people who are my friends also. These guys are married and frustrated but worldly. I know for sure that they do not monger (at least not nearly to the extent that I do) but they are aware of possibilities. Any mention of potential travel to the countries we named below, I get a "wink..wink". I have been to all of them (except Colombia). I frequently get asked about "action" and it is my turn to I ask them if they are kidding? Most of them drop it at that.

BTW, the last question about diving is rhetorical and my attempt at humor. I would not dream of seriously wasting another members time asking general questions like that on this forum.

In Car rental agency they sell maps and will show how to get there. Just ask them for the easiest way.

If you go by taxi, I think it will cost $20 on-way. And if you plan that nite Campo trip its going to cost $80 total to go airport-hotel-campo-hotel-ariport next day.

As Liathain wrote below, English is more than enough on the island.

But for Campo basic Spanish(numbers are important, also phrases. How are you, what's your name, etc.) will make huge difference.

Take a taxi when you arrrive and rent a car once you get a chance to review the map of the town etc. At night going into town over the bridge and getting off at the right exit can be challenge unless you are an excellent at finding streets and places. I have gone to Curacao about a dozen times, some frustrating driving to get things lined up.

I had to go from SXM to Aruba and to get there I had to go through Curacao. I could have easily made the late flight but flying the next day would give me a night at Campo. Not a hard decision.

the entrance fee is us$3 on monday and wednesday and us$6 all other days. i got in free because i am over 60, one of the few advantages of getting older. they pat you down before you go in, and they don't allow bags. once inside, i saw immediately that campo alegre is vast and sprawling. there is a centrally located restaurant where the food is passable. there is also a small bar across from the restaurant which was devoid of chicas in the late afternoon and early evening; i don't know about later. in the same complex as the restaurant there is a much larger bar which i understand is a strip club, but it was practically empty when i went inside. i was told that it doesn't really get going until midnight, by which time i was gone.

I arrived in mid to late afternoon, but I didn't stay later than 10pm. I noticed more girls were starting to come out just before I left and that some of them were attractive.

The Avila Hotel was excellent. Excellent beach access, good food, nice pool, friendly and helpful staff. Nearly all the guests there were Dutch and were speaking Dutch among themselves, but they all spoke English as well. I had no language problems anywhere on the island.
