For example, they even take your finger print (!).

I guess that, if a Colombian wants to change USD or EUR, it may be a pain in the a**ss even more. I also think about problems with tax offices, for example.

I take money from ATMs with my Maestro card. Contrary to credit cards (4% fee for advancing money + 1.5% fee added to the official exchange rate), they seem to apply the official exchange rate (I am not sure, but when I checked I did not see any +1% charged on the rate) and 2 or 3 EUR of fixed fee. However, in this case the money is subtracted instantaneously from your bank account.

My other ATM card is from My Credit Union and they charge a buck a transaction. We all should boycott those thieves at the airport. The code to call a land line is: 03-1-xxx-xxxx, that is for Bogota, since the city code for Bogota is 1. Just substitute the corresponding city code when calling a land line in other cities. I. E. Cali 2, Medellin 4, etc.
