Immigrants had set up camp in the small grassy area of Victoria some while back and it looked pretty disgusting but they had moved them out last time I looked. The RLDs are safe. There is one particular street near Omonia called Satoviandrou that has junkies you might want to avoid. Once I saw one spill onto Patison St begging. But there's no need to go down Satoviandrou. The only 'attraction' is an unappealing swingers place near the Metaxg end and getting there is just as easy from Metaxg Sq but like I said it's unappealing.

Athens is much safer than London or New York. Pickpocketing is the main tourist concern.
