Your response is moot because
There was no internet 15 years ago, when it was predominantly white men traveling.
Hmm. Like Chris Rock said. Open that book, LOL. There WAS internet 15 years ago. For example, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackvoices.com
In any event, you don't have to go back 15 years. The transition to the "New Sosua" occurred much more recently. There were guys making vids all the while. For instance this vid was posted in 2006 by a foreign guy who had a website with vids http://youtu.be/iWkJuiBluI0
Matter of fact, this guy predates Cuba Dave, the big head yellow dude with glasses and all of those internet Sosua experts on the Net now. This guy might be a creep for all I know, but I give dudes like this credit for at least taking some interest in the culture: http://youtu.be/FrxEGtTQkkA
As long as you are not lumping all Black men into the same category I don't see anyone having any problems with men of color. The black mongers I know do not blast rap music from their hotel balconies at all hours of the night or dress like they are fresh off the set of a rap video. The black mongers I know you would never notice them but for their skin color.
I myself as a black man do as much as I can to not draw any attention to myself while in a foreign country. Can't say the same about these younger dudes. To say there is no difference in these two types of black men is not being honest with yourself.
Who was it that posted that there was this inner city basketball coach from NY (Kenny?) that was flying these young cats from the hood down to Rio, and they were down there pants sagging, slapping around h0es and not paying them? :
And if you could show me anywhere in that post where I said that Kenny caused the closing of Help? Or any other post where I said it was because of the color of the tourists that caused Help to be closed. Kenny's era was 2001-2004, Help Disco didn't close until 2010.
Kenny did help to fuck up Rio because he brought "Young Brothas" down to Brasil who did not know how to act. EX: Not paying the girls after a session and then physically smacking them when the girls refused to leave the apartment. There is a major difference between young black men who never been out of the country and middle age men who have some life experience. Again, I can look on the internet and find young white men who acted a fool in other countries too, but the boards weren't going crazy about that.
Matter of fact, I took this picture a couple of months ago specifically for board members who always have negative things to say about how black men dress or act in Sosua. I observed a group of white men from America who had the VIP spot in DLatins. They were pouring vodka on the girls and then they started ripping each others shirts off. When security approached their table and told them to get dressed, they drunkenly tried to rip the security guards shirts off! After took the picture, I tapped my buddy on the arm and told him "You see this shit? You see how they are acting? But yet certain internet sites will complain that black men are messing up the DR by wearing Timbs or wife beaters! I wonder if any members will come on the board and lament how white men are destroying Sosua!" You will notice everyone in the picture is staring at these guys because they were acting up all night long.

That's not true. The most hated and despised men in Thailand are the Brits that When they are in a vacation, don't know if it is for the new surrounding or what but they go completely crazy and star doing the most stupid and crazy things. As a result 250 of them die each year there.
"young black guys who are taking over Sosua"
One historical note and this is not new information, as it has been pointed out by some of the more seasoned vets on the board, one thing that did happen with the demise of Rio and change in the demographic in Sosua is a much more hardened, short time, one hour, sport fuck mentality with the girls. So yeah, there is definitely a difference now! As others have pointed out, back in the day Sosua was much more relaxed and about TLNs. Not saying you can't get TLN, but it was the norm back then and the quality of that TLN was very good.
So what, you ask? Sosua is, what Sosua is. For the new jacks and semi new jacks all of this talk of what used to be and the heyday of Rio and or Sosua means nothing. You can't miss what you never had. It's just that some remember a different time. To blame it on one group is not fair, as there has been a convergence of events and changes that has led us to the present state of Sosua. We are given the present day Sosua to enjoy so lets do that! We have to move forward with what we have.
Some never thought Rio would get shut down; some never thought Boca Chica would get cleaned up; some never thought Times Square would get cleaned up. The day may come sooner or later when Sosua changes, for whatever reason, so we must enjoy it now, while we can and don't take it for granted. Even with some of the changes, it still beats any day back at the crib for most of us.
Flashback historical footnote *:

I just recieved information from a very reliable sourse that the Notorious K- Boatride has just been paroled. He is still in Rio and staying at a friend's apartment-Probably his only friend.
Hopefully he and guys like him have learned a valuable lession-Mr Wes.

Some of the locals, especially the girls now look at us differently. I could sense that when I hung out around Rio. I didn't mess VM this time for that same reason.
Serves him right and I did notice a considerable fewer BROTHERS in Copa. Most of the guys I saw were the regulars. Saw Mr Muscle Man riding his bike on Ave Atlantica.

X. Explain what you mean by "Some of the locals, especially the girls now look at us differently. I could sense that when I hung out around Rio."
I notice that you've said it a couple of times. I think I understand what you mean, but just want to make sure. I haven't been to Rio since Nov. 2003. I knew back then that things were going down a negative stretch.
I'm glad "K-BoatRide" is finally out of jail. I sincerely doubt that he and dudes like him will take the hint of persona non-grata and just leave. ]]

Vail prejudice
i have never seen these young black guys being unruly in the clubs. they love to show off and be seen but how does that hurt anyone. i have seen young white guys pissy drunk throwing up and acting out in florida outings. when young =black guys hang out every one is hyper critical. many of these guys are college buddies. i know this because i have talked to some of the clics. they dress based on their peers not us. i have sons in there late 20s. they are great people and do not dress or listen to my music gringos do your sons and nephews dress or listen to the same music you do. rap music love or hate it is an international phenom, it is played and respected all over the world. the fact it is not on most gringo play list is ok but i have zero country on mine. the young bros are not thugs because they they wear loose cloths. unfortunately that is how they are portrayed in the media. big deal they play their music loud and late. so did we when we were young. in most cases they will not bite you. have a conversation you might learn something. african american culture is different then many aspects of white culture. having different styles is not a negative as long as we respect each other. many of us old farts are not giving the youngons any respect. the reason the guys are there is that black men love the look of black women the majority of dr ladies look like our pretty sisters here with good atitudes. young white guys are into white women so the dr is not as attractive to them. white guys are often surprised and upset when they are perceived as racist. it is how they are oriented in our country. the if it aint white it aint right perspective. i am closer to 60 then 50 and have lived with white folk all my life. i have learned that our differences are few but some folk focus on the differences way to much. we are all brothers one love one father

Big deal they play their music loud and late. So did we when we were young.
This is true. I am of British origin, but I avoid British tourists like the plague in places like the DR for the reasons given above.
I agree with most of what you say, except to add that use of marijuana is illegal in the DR and it seems a bit contrarian to travel to a place where prostitution is legal, only to openly break the drug laws, creating a potential for legal problems. From a legal point of view Amsterdam might be a safer destination to combine marijuana and paid sex.
As far as loud music goes, the question is more about what is acceptable in hotels. If New Garden decides to tolerate personal music loud and late, that is their business decision and they should make all guests aware of their policy. Would it be tolerated at the Days Inn near Fort Lauderdale airport? Probably not.

Not a big deal
In the US smoking weed is like Diving to fast in the US. Many people including me indulge. Growing up in my generation black white almost everyone I knew smoked weed in college. I do not drink. I hate the taste of beer. However I enjoy a weed buzz very much. The pleasure of being in Classicos hearing the music and seeing the hot babes with a buzz was a priceless moment. What floats your boat is a personal choice. I have not seen them openly smoking cause I would have asked for a tote. LOL As long as it is done in private I see no issue.
in the us smoking weed is like diving too fast in the us.
you are ok until you hit the bends?
i don't know what part of the us you are from, but in florida smoking weed is taken fairly seriously. for example many employers insist on pre-employment testing and during employment too, and in many licensed professions any kind of drug conviction can get you into all kinds of trouble, probation, etc. a marijuana possession conviction also comes with a two-years driver's license suspension, whereas a first or second offense speeding would only be a fine, though fairly stiff if you are going very fast.

I don't have any problem with Mary Jane either, but for employment purposes I can't fuck with it. For me it boils down to:
-Being broke, hella weed to smoke, no pussy (mongering)
or
-Having lots of money, lots of pussy (mongering) , no weed
I love pussy too much to lose a very good paying job behind some bullshit (weed), LOL! Lucky for those who can have the best of both worlds.

Weed In DR
Suicide. Straight Up.
If only it was "cool" it would be an amazing place for it. I love nature and a good buzz. Lots of NATURE in Sosua.
In the DR they look at Heroin and Weed as the same thing. No Difference. A drug is a drug.
This is where the danger lies.

All true
I do not smoke much so I do not need the potent stuff and have been retired for last 3 years. You are right about the local stuff. It is very ragged but they give you a lot for a little. Many of the Haitian girls smoke and will hook you up. They generally do not have relationships with local authorities. I have assumed the risk on a few occasions and have enjoyed the experience. Not to mention my dance skills are enhanced 100% One of the best times was being in a cabana in a shower with a 25 year old non pro. The music, the enviroment and the buzz unforgetable. You have to be a risk taker to be a monger. I try to be very discreet and get the most out of my experience. Classicos with buzz priceless.

I agree
I'm young and black. I too wish my age group would just stop uploading videos and inviting more of their ignorant, loud mouthed friends. I'll be honest and most of you are probably thinking about this too. I want to keep certain monger destinations to both myself and other mongers who don't feel the need to be posting their tricking for the whole world to see. It's not something to be proud of outside of your monger circle. Call it selfish but when the whole world knows, this is what happens. However, I don't agree with what these other mongers who love to dress up their closeted prejudice with words like 'thugs'. It's not an inside joke. Everyone knows what group you're talking about, and you just look stupid. Get over it. It is what is. This is the age we all live in now. The best we can do is educate these young men and tell them that what they are doing is ruining future mongering for all of us. To be low key. Will they listen? I don't know, but it can't hurt to try instead of complaining about the good old days on a messaging board.
