First, good that you chose to come out with your version.

1. From what you said, our senior made you convince. As we are all human, we do have preferences and soft corners. So keep that in mind. In any case remember beauty is in the eye of beholder. I do ask seniors how much to pay for a provider so as not to overpay. In that aspect I would trust a senior than provider. Often indies don't spent lot of time talking about money.
