It's not where the music comes from, this is about whats depicted and the messages in the music that may be inspiring certain negativity into certain people. Media is a strong component in inspiring behavior in people. Good, bad and ugly.

I used to work in harlem at a fastfood joint flipping burgers. There were 3 black stations. They were NOT easy listening stations. But when I had one of those stations on, the people came into the restaurant were loud, boisterious and sometimes disrespectful to us that worked there. Plus they would use the restaurant as a hangout. Much like what many folks see today in their neighborhoods. Dudes hanging around in or outside.

One day, I decided not to put on any of the black stations, I put on WPAT easy listening music. That "Strangers in the Night" kinda music. The result? People came in quiet, left quiet. Ordered food respectfully, and got the fuck out of there. They couldn't stand hanging around and listening to that type of music. They couldn't relate to it. So it may not have inspired them to any great degree.

But the local black stations, they related to that, and the vibe and messages in that music inspired a change in behavior. So where am I going with this? I'm saying some of that rap, hiphop or reggaetone music may be instrumental in inspiring a change in behavior in many of these chicas. In order to make that money, they feel the need to meet the expectations of the younger mongers who are inspired by the negative rap, hip hop or reggaetone. A change in behavior, means a change to what many vets were used to seeing in Sosua.

But as Mr O said. Many mongers don't even know how things used to be, and can't relate. So talking about this issue means nothing to them. But if you go to D'Latino's at night what you notice most is that the music is so deafening, it is impossible to have a conversation with anyone, flirt, or do anything other than dance (which makes people thirsty) or buy and consume drinks. If you do try to talk, you have to shout and that quickly makes you thirsty. I imagine that is management's game plan. Another side effect of extreme noise is that to talk to someone you have to get very close to their ear, which leads to opportunities for touching, which leads to sexual arousal and sales opportunities for vendors of sexual entertainment. Thats your doubt. You are in entitled to be doubtful. However, in the bedroom is not where I think the focus should be. The change in behavior may be cultivated way before the bedroom. And it is often manifested in what happens as contact is initiated until the whole ordeal is over.
