Does anyone know if the Police have checkpoints leaving Tijuana going to Playa's, or in the other direction?
I was planning on crossing the border on Wednesday, taking a taxi to Playa's, and spending a few nights and don't want any hassles.
Any information would be helpful.

I've gotten pesos from 15 to 20 different ATM machines. All were located in Mexico (that dispensed dollar & pesos). I haven't run into an ATM in the United States that dispensed anything other than US currency (although some might exist).
Why don't you check back on your reading since you seem to be so certain?

Personally, I cross into Tijuana with left over pesos from the last trip. Then, I use my CS card in the ATMs in HK or the hotel. Always a better rate.

I'm constantly calculating the marginal differences in rates or costs of goods. It probably occupies 30% of my brain (you know, the "discounted", king size bad of potato chips is actually more expensive per ounce than the small size. What a time waste).
Artiste is overjoyed that El Mayor de Tijuana shuts down our strip clubs and leave the chicas starve to death, clutching their babies.
The chicas should declare "La Zona Automática de Coahuila" so we can live and have some fun!

Thanks.[/QUOTE]As of this writing there are none on 1 D or Via Rapida. Checkpoints seem to be sporadic. I've driven through them on D1 at the toll past Playas on the way to Rosarito, and very late at night / early morning on the auxiliary road that feeds and exits Via Rapida. This is due to traffic. If you make good eye contact you're likely OK as they're looking for drinkers and sick people. A little Visine goes a long way.
But I was reading that Hong Kong was a restaurant.

I was planning to visit Tijuana this upcoming Sunday, never been there mongering. I tend to like to go with the freelancers and was wondering if this would be a bad time to go now that the bars are closed again.
It's been 3 months now since I have been back from Thailand and really looking forward to getting back to some of my favorite activities. Where is the best place to stay in the $50-$60 a night range? Even with the bars closed I think that I would find enough chicas on the street or Milerotica.
What do you guys think, bad idea to go right now?
