Hi guys,
I found another fishbowl in Don Tum. A step up from the others. Food on the tables and about 20 girls, from 20 something & slim to fat grannies. There was a fellow singing karaoke and you could choose a girl to come sit with you, pour your drinks etc for 120 bt per 1/2 HR. Big beer was 90 bt.
What should I be able to negotiate in the room for boom boom?

How about Chinatown?[/QUOTE]If you find Patpong and Nana Plaza unfriendly, you'll find Chinatown beyond awful. It's a low-end Thai local scene. While they won't refuse a Farang, it's far from friendly and experience is nothing to brag about.
If you don't enjoy being hassled for drinks / tips (I sure don't), may well bypass the whole agogo scene. I'd suggest going for freelancer venues like Thermae, Beergarden, Gullivers, or the streetwalkers. If you do want to sit and drink, pick one of the venues along Soi 4, and spot your street girls from there.
The scene didn't get better over the last 5 years, quite the contrary. Pattaya also worse, but more relaxed than Bangkok these days.

Two worlds) worth for all Asia. But in some country the tourist scene is almost non existent, and for some like Cambodia the farang created the fantastic exploit to imported the Thailand practice in the country. Barfine, ridiculous price etc etc. Most Farang now want to cheong in Asia, but they want something dedicated to them. They have no intention to follow the local way.
So no wonder excepted Angeles and PP they spend their times to write their sarcasms here.
Massage parlor are just the most showing part of the local scene in Thailand. Catering middle and upper class Thai men. They are all over Thailand and easy to find.
In such kind of place the price is higher, rarely less than 1000 baths, the service is also better than low end brothels. That s why saying the service quality is low is not true.
For high end thai club for sure coming with Tuk tuk or taxi drivers will never opened you the doors. And these drivers are not stupid enough for bringing a farang there.
For low end brothels. Like you said it s mainly #quickly "in-and-out", nothing sophisticated. #. but as usual it s all depend about the girl.
Mongering into the local scene is first accepting the difference between the two scenes. And most farang are not ready for that.
Some trolls here will tell us brothels are easy to find, follow the Christmas light. Well good luck since Thai people ever put it on their house temple. And about using tuk tuk. All around Thailand drivers knows how to recognized pigeon.

One advice forget about it and do like Malaysian, Singaporean. Go to sadao. The main difference is LT is almost the norm here (like in Hat yai). If you re into bar scene, Songkhla has solid bar girl strip. But you have to compete with expat oil worker. Prepare your wallet, The ST price is the LT price in Sadao.
BTW some girls will never do farang. Even in hat yai, it s not common but it s happened.

I live in Hua Hin one year now. Yes, you can certainly negotiate and bring an escort down from BKK. Prices will vary girl-by-girl, but I would guess no less than 1,500 baht per day, plus expenses but more likely 2000+. However, there really are many nice, working girls available in all shapes, sizes, and ages in Hua Hin. Although, there are only two main areas, Soi Bintabaht, Soi Poonsuk district, and the Soi 80 strip that are filled with bars and massage places, however the business is quietly spilling into Soi 88 and Soi 94. Plus Thai Friendly and Wechat online are excellent ways to hookup for low-cost or free action. Trust me, I have successfully tried them. You can stroll by the massage shops at 1100 am in Bintabaht and find some fun, hit the Soi 80 bars at mid-day for afternoon delight, or for the very best selection of young hotties cruise from 7 pm until midnight. Now, in Hua Hin all bars generally close by 12 midnight. I currently have my own, live-in GF, but I can still meet and show you around while she is at work. Just send me a PM. For farang it will be quite difficult to recognize a Thai brothel, unless another Thai guides you there. But that is not exceptiional or for Thailand only. If you come to Belgium, you will walk past a lot of places where sex is offered and you'd be none the wiser. Locals will recognize the "signs".

But unfortunately you can see local scene interest very few people here. The norm is to go in Gogo bar, listening a no brain girl telling you about her problems, and how farang are. Well I wonder if farang socialized like that with hookers in their country. Amazing Thailand.
For answering to your question, I m not so familiar with KTV. Some KTV are purely and simply brothel. Where, when you seat the mamasan or papasan will asked you if you want girls before inquiring if you want drinks. I like such kind of #KTV# because the deal is clear, price fixed. Package is all inclusive. No bad surprise.
For others KTV your description is accurate, but English is rarely spoke in such kind local low end KTV. And girls are not here for here being your GF or telling you about her life problems, but for making money, so for most of us they will appeared unfriendly.
All and all, in such kind of low end local KTV I've never paid more than 1000 baths (I was unable to resist to this Burmese cutie). But standard price is usually 500-700 the ST. Be aware that some KTV will charge you for room, if they don t have you will have to paid for ST hotel, girls will almost never followed you in your room. Once again keep in mind I talk about local low end KTV. High end KTV are much more expansive.
BTW have you been to Salaya?

Maenam too but is a bit off the beaten track and lest tourist. Can be a good base for moving around daytime. A mean of transport is recommended there.

Okay guys, I just got back from the DR, and it was great. But I am so ready to go back to Asia. A return to the LOS is in the cards, but I want advice on some places that have good attractions in addition to some worthwhile mongering opportunities. Your suggestions will be to the benefit of many others, besides myself, who can imagine a Thailand beyond BKK and Patts. Not that those two places aren't fun. But, I am still a serious tourist who loves to visit World Heritage sites, meet the real people and of course enjoy a bargain vacation in the process.
Maybe I should define what I mean by "worthwhile mongering opportunities". I look for places where you can meet pleasant girls without too much hassle. I actually like the looks of ordinary Thai girls, so I am not looking for something that looks like an anime from a Japanese cartoon. I seek out good performers, not beauties, and my experience has been the more that you pay the less you get. My latest trip to the Dominican Republic, confirmed my experience that price tends to have a negative correlation to quality.
Good attractions? How about good food, good company and interesting locales, as well as something of historical and cultural interest. I think you can get my drift. Its possible for all those things to be found in the same place.
Did I mention that I went to Old Sukhothai? Not the quickest or easiest place to reach. I took the train to Phitsanulok, and arrived later in the afternoon, to late to visit the ruins in Old Sukhothai. Stayed at a old, barracks like hotel near the train station run by a really cool and friendly old couple. I was the only farang in town it seemed, and I loved it. Nobody bothered me. I would have loved to have found some mongering opportunities there. But, this is very much off the monger's path and I don't speak Thai, so I couldn't ask around.
That said, I am open to places like that. I don't need to an English menu or English literate bar girls for that matter. Isaan sounds like it has some good possibilities, but I expect other parts of the country have their appeal as well.

She instructed I put on peasant pant and then started a typical Thai massage. I made it more than obvious what I really wanted but she was having none of it though she did let my hands roam liberally over her clothes there was no convincing her to give me release. Only 250 bt investment (pulse 100 bt tip) but I'm not a fan of blue balls. I'm a bit confused as many of the ladies in the fishbowl stare at me like hungry beasts so I was surprised I couldn't get action?
The Thai men there treat me well, always offering me a place at their table, this time I couldn't buy a drink, my glass being refilled with that yummy Thai whiskey. I like it there, my liver won't, but I'd like to get laid after a few drinks.

Regarding your experience. I m surprised you got a simple massage in a KTV too. I can understand in massage shop with so called# fishbowl#(what a big word#. Even in such kind of place few of them provide extra. And if they do. It will be always a negotiation between you and the girl upstairs.
Like I told you Captain Lloyd you got 2 kinds of KTV. Don t make your own certainties in Thailand, if you have doubt, just ask directly what is on offer to the Mamasan or papasan.

Krumlov.[/QUOTE]You quote a post of OnThinIce, but his places mentioned are relatively far from Lampang I think. "Mae Sai" (river Sai district) (he spelled it wrong) is border to Myanmar from Chiang Rai. Tha Ton also close to Myanmar border between Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.
Hope someone will happen to know Lampang well, but perhaps difficult.
