The Change rate has doubled in Thailand since 1998 when the Baht was at 60 to the Dollar, in addition prices rose.
Tiger, It never hit 60 to the dollar, and was only above 50 for a few days. But that was a real anomaly, in the darkest days of the Asian economic crisis. A year before the forex rate was 25 THB/USD.
Those were the best days for mongers in southeast Asia that we'll see in our lifetimes. I remember doing absolutely beautiful 19 and 20 year old stunners in Jakarta for less than $10 and spending hours in Karaoke joints for less than the price of a couple of beers in a nice bar in the U.S. or Europe.
I'd guess inflation-adjusted prices in US dollars for poontang in Thailand right now are less than what they were in the mid-1990's. I know prices would be cheaper in Euros. But otherwise agree -- it doesn't make a lot of sense to go all the way to Thailand from Hong Kong, let alone the U.S. or Europe, if cheap pussy is your primary motivation.
Way too cool to pass up. Found video series called Thai Lies where this guy was fucking the girls then records the girls lying to the farangs sponsoring them.
This is the youtube link but you can just do a search for Thai Lies on youtube and there's a bunch of other videos of what the thai girls do.

Where have you been? Why don't you RTFF? Terry Terrier already posted this link in response to the lengthy discussion last week in the Thai Women thread on the topic of lying in Thailand. Lying isn't just confined to bargirls and the like. It's pervasive throughout the whole population.
Mike,
Believe me. My question is for real. I also never meet a real squirter but I am married and have not many opportunities to try. My wife who is from Malaysia does not even like when I finger her but I also hear that a woman can get very wet. I hope other guys share there experiences as well.
Apologies. Yes different girls like different things. I can't put up with a girl who doesn't try at least some things. but some don't like fingers.

Taxis at the Airport
Anyway, did anyone ever had the same problems?
This happened to me 2 years ago, the taxi told me 500 and no meter once we were off from the Airport Grounds. I told him to stop the car and stepped out, he wanted money and I laughed at his face.
Sad thing is that I had to walk back the 500 meters to the Legal Taxis Booths. Som Nam Na. From this day, I always use the regular taxis lane.
Another thing that happened to me recently was that the Meter showed 450 thb for a Suvarnabhumi-Sukhumvit trip at 1am (no traffic). when I arrived and looked at the meter, I told the Driver in Thai that the meter is not working properly, gave him 200 + 50 (Airport surcharge) and he did not complain. He mumbled but did not argue.
In any case, we were at my condo and Security guards always take the License plate of every car that comes in so if there are problems I am covered.

Yes it does. The fact is, we still pay 8-10X the price for 1/10th the quality for P4P here in the U.S.

Can anyone recommend a good cabaret / night-spot in BKK, that is not too touristy and cheesy, and suitable for taking a Thai gf? I used to go to the Coliseum frequently until it was demolished a few months ago. It was such great fun that I can't believe there aren't similar venues around the city.
Separately, does anybody know anything about Da Vinci's cabaret? I see it occasionally on the (non-expressway) route from the airport to Sukhumvit (near the Pyvatte Hospital)?

You shouldn't use the word "cabaret". That means a katoey show, unless that's what you're looking for.
What you're looking for is a cafe, or Luk Theung Bar I think. Do you want the classic Thai show with Luk Theung music, dancing girls etc? Or, are you looking for any kind of traditional Thai nightclub?
If you want a place that's really Thai/Isaan, I'd suggest Tawan Daeng ('Red Sun' in Isaan dialect) on Patanakarn Road.

If you're looking for authentic Thai nightlife with virtually no tourists (the odd expat, maybe), this is the place. It's been around forever and is probably one of the most popular places for Thais and Isaan people in Bangkok. There's also a great Tawan Daeng in Korat, as well, if you're ever there.
First night in BKK of my third visit to LOS. I’m a little pissed because I was ripped off at the airport and it set a poor tone for the holidays.
When I arrived I of course avoided all those guys who are harassing you when you get out of the plane and I went to the public taxi place as usual. I said meter he said yes! I walked in and the driver normally started the meter. Then the guy who put the suit case in the trunk got on the taxi too next to the driver in the front passenger seat.
We go. Then the guys asked me if I wanted to use the express way or not! I thought they were honest and wanted to avoid extra traffic. Then. Things went wrong. The fuckers took me for Japanese, despite I mentioned coming to LOS several times. They asked me 500 baths for the express way and suddenly the meter went crazy and was already at 2000 baths! I yelled that the meter is paid with coins, as far as I know there are no 500 baths coins. I gave 100 baths, and the guy asked me for another 100 for the "return" which stupidly I gave.
I was off to a small Shukumvit Hotel, so I decided of a new plan. I asked them to drop me off at Sheraton Grande Shukumvit and maybe I can get some security guys to take care of those guys.
When we arrived at Sheraton the counter was at a whooping 7500 baths! 150 EUROS taxi ride most expensive ever especially as his car stinked
I got off and they kept trying to to scam me for the 7500 baths. As the guy didn’t really go inside the Sheraton premises, but stopped in front on Shukumvit. I got scared to yell for the cops, thought it could waste another 3 hours of my time. So after a few minutes where the guy told me to pay the meter fare. We settled at 700 baths. Which of course is still a scam!
Anyway, did anyone ever had the same problems?
I just got back from BKK last week. The Public Taxi stand has moved from the ground floor to the arrival floor. When you exit the arrival floor there is a Taxi concession stand. The service fee is 50 Bhat. You should get a ticket from the concession stand before boarding the Taxi. The ticket will have the taxi driver or Taxi company name and phone number. As usual they will try to ask you if you want to the the toll freeway. I have been using the taxi stand in the last 3 years and so far have not encountered any problem. The cost from Suvarnabhumi to Sukhumvit should be around 300 Bhat if you take the toll freeway.
Do not use any other taxi. Only use the taxi from the taxi concession stand. This is where local people go to get taxi.

Exactly. When you enter the arrival hall, there will be a bunch of shit-eating touts trying to get you to take their "superior" and "cheap" taxi. I once enquired about one, just for kicks. They wanted 1900 baht to go to the center of Bangkok. I just laughed at them and went outside. Now a few more shit-eaters will be outside trying the same shenanigans. DO NOT go with them. It's unbelievable that people actually pay for their shitty service. 1900 baht! That's a barfine and a short time from Nana. Go to the queue that says "public taxi". Even after you get into the taxi, the guy will sometimes try and negotiate a price. Tell him to put on the meter. I've never had a problem with them doing this. If they refuse, get out of the taxi and find another one. From the airport to Ratchada it was 220 baht (not including the 50 baht service fee). I usually tell them not to get on the expressway because I just don't want more potential problems. The toll shouldn't be more than about 25 baht (I think). My Thai g/f usually meets me at the airport as well to avoid potential [CodeWord140]-offs.

If you are not Thai (I am Yeppun) and with your girlfriend, don't be suprised if folks strike up conversations. Good to brush up on your Thai, although sometimes difficult to hear as the music is LOUD.
Also, one warning. If you go to the head, they have guys who massage you at the urinal. I thought it was offensive and puhsed the guy away, only to learn from my gf that this is their job and they expect a tip.
