The official projection for bars reopening is September 1. Who knows how accurate that will prove to be. The hotels will probably still have their lineups, so there's that, although I've read that it's mostly the be and see team. YMMV as always.

You may be better off getting a regular hotel for a couple days and seeing a few indys, or escorts, and enjoying whatever restaurants have survived.

One of the purpose of the Passport card was for crossing back to USA from Mexico.

I sent my passport in for the card a week. Before coronavirus, still haven't gotten them back. Normally it would of been fast maybe 3 weeks. The reason was to both avoid damage of passport in my pocket at hk and everywhere else in tijuana and also to stop filling it with stamps. No matter how much I begged 90% of the time they insisted on stamps. Only when I went with a girl did they allow no stamp. They insisted I was going to hk. Sometimes I was just going to a hotel to save $. Often I paid the now 24 dollars about, for the 6 month visa but that still gets stamped once and sometimes I don't want to pay for the visa if I'm leaving San Diego soon. Now I'll have to wait in line but it may be few years till I'm going back to hk unfortunately I don't think any vaccine is comming.

Thought I would give a quick trip report. Got a room at Ticuan. Booked on their site for a cheaper price rather than walking up. Going through customs was a breeze. You don't have to say you are going to the doctor. They didn't ask crap other than how long will you stay. They check your temperature and off you go. I think the taxis are all colluding now because none would take 50 pesos to get to Ticuan. I had to pay 90 or I would have been waiting a while, and it just wasn't worth the hassle for 40 pesos. Ticuan is really nice and the shower is worth every penny and is the reason I quit HK CC Adelitas, because you just can't beat calling a girl there and showering together and everyone is clean in a large beautiful room for 1 hour at 75 bucks.

I went downtown and all the major clubs had a small party upstairs with 10 to 20 girls. You have to ask them for girls. If you ask "are you open" they will say its closed. Kind of weird, but supposedly they are not supposed to have any girls, even though there are cops everywhere. Honestly downtown wasn't worth it. None of the girls were really attractive. I found one girl and had some lapdances. I went downtown the first 2 nights and quit after that and stayed hotel bound. If you need the big party atmosphere like before, and don't do escorts or regulars, you will be disappointed in your trip. You should probably wait until they open everything officially. There weren't many street girls on the walls if you are into that. I stayed in hotel Ticuan and called my regulars over. I maxed out at 2 a day. I just can't do the 3 or 4 a day like some of you guys. I guess I'm getting old. Bottom line, if you are coming to Tijuana get a room at Ticuan for 60 bucks and do the escort thing or your regulars. That is the best bang for your buck IMHO.

I totally agree on your Ticuan game plan, as I've done exactly the same thing on many occasions. In fact, there's a strong a possibility that I'll make my triumphant return to Tijuana and Ticuan the Monday and Tuesday after 4th of July. However, there is a fleeting thought in my mind to stay at Hotel Coahuila at just $20/ night to maximize my options to include bar girls, paraditas and escorts. I renewed my passport towards the end of February and added the passport card. I just got my passport today and should be getting the card in a few days. You can go to the State Dept website and enter some information and see if it is pending. And they will send you emails when the passport is approved and also one when it is mailed to you.

There was an emergency procedure to renew passport. You have to go to the local Federal building and wait around for it. Don't know if they still do it. Search for that procedure.

Guys should also apply for the Global Entry trusted traveler status on line with state. GOV $100 good for 5 years. It cuts down the wait time for border crossing and airport boarding to 5-10%. At the San Ysidro car crossing, GE / SENTRI can cross back with 5 to 10 min waiting in line, but the regular and ready lines are a mile long, 3 to 4 hours every time. WTF?
